Biden Insists On Opposing Coronavirus Travel Ban Despite The Advice of Experts

Along with former senator and vice president, Joe Biden can now add “pandemic expert” to his list of titles, or so he thinks. Biden has aggressively criticized President Trump for his decision to impose a travel ban on China, Iran, and most of Europe to decrease the spread of the coronavirus.

On Thursday, Biden tweeted:
“A wall will not stop the coronavirus. Banning all travel from Europe — or any other part of the world — will not stop it. This disease could impact every nation and any person on the planet — and we need a plan to combat it.”

There’s just one problem with Biden’s assertion: It’s a heaping pile of malarkey, as he would say. Several leading experts on pandemics like the coronavirus agree that cutting off travel from the nations that have been impacted the most is the correct course of action.

Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has consistently argued that travel from Europe poses a “real threat” to the U.S. During a congressional hearing, he said, “The real risk in general right now and this is why the president took the action he did last night within the world now over 70 percent of the new cases are linked to Europe.” He continued, “Europe is the new China, and that’s why the president made those statements.”

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, also told Congress that travel bans are necessary to contain the spread of the coronavirus. In the same hearing, he said:
“Because if you look at the numbers it’s very clear that 70 percent of new infections in world are coming from that region, from Europe. Of the 35 or more states that have infections, 30 of them now, most recently, have gotten them from a travel-related case from that region.”

Several other experts have supported the decision to halt travel from Iran, China, and Europe, insisting that it is essential to combating the spread of the virus. As of this writing, at least 2,443 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in the U.S. At least 50 have died from the illness.

But, of course, Uncle Joe always knows what’s best, doesn’t he?

Biden isn’t the only Democratic politician who seems to believe he became an authority on pandemics overnight. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has also criticized the policy. Both candidates have laid out their plan for containing the virus, and neither of them involves restricting travel from any of the nations impacted.

In essence, their plans would allow individuals to fly straight from Wuhan to the U.S. We already knew the Democrats were for open borders. But none of us could have imagined that this would apply to deadly viruses as well. Go figure.

  • Andrew Gillum was found in a hotel room at Mondrian South Beach early Friday morning with two other men, Travis Dyson, 30, and Aldo Mejias, 56
  • Paramedics were called to the room after Dyson, a male escort who posts homemade porn movies online, overdosed on crystal meth
  • Police found three plastic baggies of crystal meth on the bed and floor
  • The former mayor of Tallahassee was not arrested and was too intoxicated to answer questions, according to a police report obtained by DailyMail.com

  • 'While I had too much to drink, I want to be clear that I have never used methamphetamine,' Gillum, 40, said in a statement Friday
This is the hunky gay escort found naked and overdosing on crystal meth in a hotel room with a leading Democrat, DailyMail.com can reveal.
Andrew Gillum, a married father-of-three who narrowly missed out on becoming Florida's first black governor, was too 'inebriated' to speak when cops arrived at the ritzy Mondrian Hotel in Miami's South Beach party district.
He was inside the room early Friday with two more men, one of them a 30-year-old male escort named Travis Dyson who was being treated by paramedics for a suspected drug overdose.
Cops found three plastic bags of suspected crystal meth and the third man present, Aldo Mejias, 56, told officers that Gillum and Dyson had been 'under the influence of an unknown substance', according to a police report obtained by DailyMail.com.

The report also noted that 40-year-old Gillum, a former Tallahassee mayor and regular CNN contributor, was seen vomiting in the bathroom and required a welfare check to see if he was okay.

Police are not pressing charges over the incident and Gillum denies taking drugs, however he later issued a groveling apology over his behavior.
'I was in Miami last night for a wedding celebration when first responders were called to assist one of my friends,' he said in a statement. 'While I had too much to drink, I want to be clear that I have never used methamphetamine.
'I apologize to the people of Florida for the distraction this has caused our movement.'
Miami Beach resident Dyson describes himself as a trauma certified ER nurse on social media, where he posts photos of himself working out in the gym, partying at gay nightspots and lounging on luxury yachts.
But DailyMail.com can reveal he also posts explicit photos and homemade porn movies online and has previously had a profile on the Rent.men website, which advertises male escorts and sex workers.
It is not clear how he is connected to Gillum, who narrowly missed out on becoming Florida governor in 2018 when he lost the gubernatorial election to Republican Ron DeSantis.
Gillum met his wife R. Jai Howard while they were studying at Florida A & M and together they have three young children.
When contacted by the Miami New Times, Dyson said he had known Gillum 'for a while' but didn't know anything about a wedding.

They arrived to find paramedics performing first aid on Dyson in the wake of 'a suspected drug overdose' and preparing to take him to the hospital.
Mejias - described in the report as 'the complainant' - told officers he had given his credit card details to Dyson on Thursday afternoon to rent a hotel room.
'Mr Mejias arrived at the hotel at approximately 23:07 hours where he discovered Travis Dyson and Andrew Gillum inside the room under the influence of an unknown substance,' the report states.
'Per Mr Mejias, Mr Dyson opened the hotel room door and immediately walked over to the bed and collapsed in a prone position. Mr Mejias observed Mr Gillum inside of the bathroom vomiting.

Florida Dem Gov Candidate in Crystal Meth/Male Escort Incident :)

Florida Dem Gov Candidate Gillum in Crystal Meth Incident

There was a move to have Andrew Gillum run for the White House this round. Just imagine the clown car with crystal meth.
Former Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum was allegedly present during an incident involving crystal meth at a Miami Beach hotel early this morning, according to an incident report obtained by New Times. A source with knowledge of the incident confirmed that Gillum's date of birth matches the identifying information of the Andrew Gillum whose name is on an incident report circulating on Twitter this morning. Gillum served as mayor of Tallahassee from 2014 to 2018.
In a statement to Miami Herald reporter David Smiley, Gillum said, "I was in Miami last night for a wedding celebration when first responders were called to assist one of my friends. While I had too much to drink, I want to be clear that I have never used methamphetamines."
According to the documents, police responded to a cardiac-arrest distress call just before 1 a.m. at the Mondrian South Beach. When two officers from the Miami Beach Police Department arrived at the luxe hotel on West Avenue just north of 11th Street, they noted that Miami Beach Fire-Rescue was on scene treating a man for a possible drug overdose, but that the man, identified as Travis Dyson, was in stable condition.
Mejias told police Gillum was inside the hotel room "under the influence of an unknown substance." Mejias said that while he was performing CPR on Dyson, Gillum was vomiting in a bathroom. Officers said that they tried to speak with Gillum but that he was "unable to communicate due to his inebriated state."
Miami Beach Fire-Rescue said it responded to the hotel a second time for a "welfare check" on Gillum, at which time he was in a stable condition.
The officers said they found three small baggies of "suspected crystal meth" on "both the bed and floor of the hotel room." Officers said Gillum left the hotel room "without incident" that night and went home.
Gillum's defense is that he was around guys who were using crystal meth, but he was just completely drunk, and not on meth.
2024 candidate?
Reader Comments:
  • (1) To add to the fun, the reports indicate that the guy who OD's was a "male escort" and that the primary players were not . . . let us see how to put this delicately . . . um, not noticeably clothed.
Which ought to help with the LGBTQRSTUV vote.
Sadly, there were no Indian princesses involved, which would have pretty much locked up the 2024 Dem nomination.
In other words, there is still a chance for third-tier Dem candidates to top this and win with all the Dem voting blocks. AOC isn't old enough to run in 2025, and Ilhan Omar is not native born, but others couldd go for the prize. An announcement from Gilliam that he was transgender and currently "transitioning" would go a long way towards the nomination and knocking all the others out.

    • (2) Memories of Marion Barry...
    • Luckily Gillum was drunk enough to get officers to let him leave...hmm, being drunk in public is usually enough cause and reason for at least the officers to question him, if not more than just question him. Not saying he had done meth or had any on him, just that being drunk in public is an offense in most States.
