Just Stop Oil: You can't arrest us all! Police: Errr, we just did

'You can't arrest us all! Er... we just have': Met Police mock Just Stop Oil after eco-clowns claim the police 'quite literally can't' arrest every one of them - before they do just that

The Met Police have mocked Just Stop Oil's latest call to action after arresting every single climate change protester who marched through the capital today and blocked traffic.

At least 21 protesters were taken into custody for alleged public order offences as the eco-group carried out its demonstration along Mile End Road, east London.

The group took to social media as officers detained demonstrators, saying: 'They quite literally can't arrest us all.'

The Met hit back at their anti-policing claim, writing: 'We "quite literally" just have.'

The exchange came after an angry driver today got out of his car to disrupt the group's march and criticise the protesters for being 'stupid'.

A fuming driver got out of his car to confront the 'stupid' Just Stop Oil eco-zealots for disrupting traffic in the capital today. He approached a protester and launched a furious rant: 'You have a problem with the Government, do you not? So why are you blocking the road?'

Twenty-two Just Stop Oil activists marched through east London today beginning at 12.14pm today, according to the climate change group. They started on Bow Road and marched to Mile End Road.

Met Police officers arrived on scene just three minutes after their march started and began arresting demonstrators by 12.30pm for breaching Section 7 of the Public Order Act.

During the protest, Just Stop Oil was approached by a fuming motorist who was left in standstill traffic as the group slowly marched in the middle of Mile End Road.

Video shows how he got out of his vehicle, walked over to a protester - who retreated as he approached - and yelled: 'What the f**k is your problem?

The driver, whose vehicle remained abandoned in the street, launched a furious rant: 'You have a problem with the Government, do you not? So why are you blocking the road?'

He accused the activists of being 'dumb' and further questioned, 'why aren't you outside House of Parliament?'

The Met arrested 21 eco-zealots today for breaching Section 7 of the Public Order Act, which gives officers the power to arrest any demonstrator who 'intentionally or recklessly' interferes with the operation of national infrastructure - including 'road transport infrastructure'.

Just Stop Oil has been carrying out slow marches through the streets of London for months now. Since October 30 alone, the Met Police have made 274 arrests during the group's protests and issued 132 charges.

'It has been another busy week for officers policing Just Stop Oil activists,' the force tweeted today.

'We are removing officers from local communities to police these protests. That is money and officers which could be better utilised within our 32 London boroughs.'

The demonstrations have been highly criticised by the public, who are seemingly outraged over the routine traffic disruptions.

Earlier this week their demonstration prevented first responders from getting to the scene of a medical emergency.

On Wednesday, a paramedic was reportedly begging police to clear the eco-zealots out of the way so he could attend a 'life or death' emergency as they held up traffic on Waterloo Bridge.

Activists staging a 'die-in' blocked a 'blue lights' ambulance trying to respond to an emergency at Guy's Hospital in central London.

Video and pictures from the scene showed a blue-light ambulance trapped in gridlocked traffic in central London, where eco zealots slow-marched and lay down on the wet pavement.

One exasperated paramedic is reported to have begged police to be given access through the road, saying he was trying to save someone's life.

The driver of the ambulance told The Telegraph: 'I am responding to a life or death emergency - I am going to pick up a team from Guy's hospital to save someone's life at another hospital but can't get through.'

Police said the march was causing gridlock on the bridge, holding up traffic including an ambulance with 'blue lights on'.
