A farm attack took place on Sunday 18 April 2021, on a smallholding in the Fochville area in the Gauteng province of South Africa. A couple in their 80’s, Mr Molzahn and his wife Marie were attacked by three black males.

Mr.Molzahn, who farms with cattle, was sitting outside his house when he was attacked and then forced into the house. He was taken to the bedroom where his wife Marie was and he was then assaulted and had his hands and feet tied.

The couple were threatened with a firearm as the attackers demanded firearms and money.

The attackers then ransacked the home. Marie managed to send out a message for help from her cell phone and a farmer who received the message contacted the local safety groups for assistance.

The 3 attackers wanted to flee with their loot in the couple’s bakkie but abandoned the attempt and fled on foot, maybe because they realised that people are approaching the farmhouse. The attackers did however flee with a rifle and handgun that they robbed from the house.

A helicopter taking part in the search for the attackers spotted them from the air after which local farmers managed to arrest two of them.

The stolen firearms and guns used by the attackers were however not recovered. The third attacker is still on the run.

There is no other information available at this stage.
