Yes, the State of New California has long been gearing up for statehood.

The courageous men and women in West Virginia stood strong and created a new state according to the U.S. Constitution.  The new state was granted statehood during the Civil War.

The state of New California is following the same model.

The state of New California shares the following on its website:

The U.S. Declaration of Independence of 1776, the Alta California Declaration of Independence of 1836 and the Sonoma Proclamation of 1846 declared the Right of the People in the states of Alta California and California respectively to throw off the bonds of tyranny.

The current state of California has become governed by a tyranny, which rivals those expressed in the above documents. Therefore the United States Declaration of Independence of 1776, the Constitution as adapted in 1783 by the Congress of the United States of America, the Alta California Declaration of Independence of 1836, the Sonoma Proclamation of 1846, and the California State Constitution of 1848 Mandate the Right, the Responsibility, the Duty of the People who are suffering the long train of abuses and usurpations at the hands of a tyrannical government to abolish and make new a government by the People and for the People under GOD.

New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new States shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.

Whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such Principles and organizing its Powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

The State Splitting Process

The Precedence was set in 1861 when West Virginia was split from Confederate Virginia as Virginia tried to secede the Union.  The process begins when a state’s legislature first votes to split the state. Once the measure in the form of a resolution passes both the State Assembly and Senate it is submitted to Congress.  Both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate must vote to pass the resolution in order to split the state.  

​No State has been brought into the Union who could not demonstrate their ability to self govern.  New California will demonstrate a governance system as modeled by the U.S. Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights…

​…​New California will be the 6th largest State behind New York (bigger than Illinois and Pennsylvania).  It’s Estimated 25-27 seats in the US House of Representatives will go to New California.   Old California will become the 2nd most populous state behind Texas and ahead of Florida, losing 25-27 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Why New California?

New California is a new state in development exercising its Constitutional Right to form from the State of California. The process to form New California is authorized and codified in Article 4 Section 3 of the United States Constitution.

After years of over taxation, regulation, and mono party politics the State of California and many of its 58 Counties have become ungovernable. The nature of the State becoming ungovernable has caused a decline in essential basic services such as education, law enforcement, fire protection, transportation, housing, health care, taxation, voter rights, banking, state pension systems, prisons, state parks, water resource management, home ownership, infrastructure and many more. To be sure A recent study issued by the U.S. News and World Report ranked California No. 23 in the nation based on an aggregate score measuring economy, education, infrastructure, crime, and more.

Enter New California State an organization seeking to educate California citizens about their right to form a new state from the State of California. New California State is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization. The organization is working together with likeminded individuals and groups to reach a common goal: to achieve a state split in accordance with the U.S. Constitution (Article IV, Sec. 3).

Founded in 2017 New California State declared its Independence on January 15, 2018, and has conducted 6 Constitutional Conventions across the state, where delegates of the New California State movement came together to construct the New California State Constitution and pass critical legislation to create New California State.

The New California Legislature has to date passed 23 Resolutions including a resolution to ‘Restore the State of California.’

During the 6th Constitutional Convention New California State keynote speaker former Gov. and advisor to President Trump, Mike Huckabee endorsed the New California State.

County Committees will be established in all counties who would like to join the New California State Movement. These County Committees wilkl serve as local governance centers and will be directly involved with the New California State movement activities.  Representatives from each county will be selected to represent their respective counties on the Council of counties Committee. The County Committees will be instrumental in establishing local autonomy and outreach in their respective counties. County Committees will serve as the basis for a Legislature.

In order to have a viable New California Constitution the Declaration of Independence for New California must work in tandem with the New California Constitution. A day of Independence will be declared to declare our intent to separate from the State of California following the provisions of Article 4 Section 3 of the United States Constitution. The Day of Independence will be the first step to in the process necessary to establish the New California Constitutional Convention. The Declaration Process will serve as the Will of the People in New California.

At all times representatives from New California will stand ready to work with California State representatives and Federal representatives to complete the separation process in an orderly fashion following all federal and state laws.

Filmmaker Michael Bay is facing charges in Italy for allegedly killing a pigeon while filming the Netflix movie 6 Underground some five years ago, TheWrap reported on Thursday.

Bay denied the allegations, telling TheWrap that he is "a well-known animal lover and major animal activist." 

He also clarifies in the interview that no animal was harmed in any production he took part in the last 30 years and that he has evidence and witnesses that exonerate him from such accusations.

Pigeons are a protected species in Italy, with a law banning the harming, capture or killing of the bird.

However, the report cited an insider that claimed the bird was supposedly killed on the set of Bay's movie by a camera dolly. The insider reportedly has photographic evidence of someone who was at the location and filmed the incident.

Italian authorities allowed the Transformers director to settle the case, an offer declined by Bay, who said that he wouldn't "plead guilty to having harmed an animal," he also told TheWrap.

Ingredients

Meat Mixture:

1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef

1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs

1 tablespoon ketchup

2 teaspoons dry mustard

4 dashes Worcestershire sauce

1 cube beef bouillon, crumbled (or powdered beef base)

Salt and pepper

1 tablespoon butter

1 tablespoon olive oil

Gravy:

1 whole onion, halved and thinly sliced (or diced if you prefer)

2 cups beef broth, more if needed for thinning

1 tablespoon ketchup

1 teaspoon seasoning sauce, such as Kitchen Bouquet, optional

4 dashes Worcestershire

1 teaspoon cornstarch, optional

Salt and pepper

Directions:

1. For the meat mixture: Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, ketchup, dry mustard, Worcestershire sauce, bouillon and some salt and pepper. Knead until all combined. Form into 4 to 6 oval patties, and then make lines across the patties to give them a "steak" appearance.
2. Fry the patties in a skillet with the butter and oil over medium-high heat on both sides until no longer pink in the middle. Remove from the skillet and pour off any excess grease.
3. For the gravy: Reduce the heat to medium and add in the sliced onions. Stir and cook until golden brown and somewhat soft, for several minutes. Add the beef stock, ketchup, seasoning sauce, if using, and the Worcestershire. Then combine the cornstarch with a little beef broth and add to the sauce if using. Stir and cook to reduce.
4. Add a sprinkle of salt and pepper and more broth if needed for thinning. Then return the patties to the gravy. Spoon the gravy over the top and let them simmer and heat back up for a couple of minutes.

A down-home gal from Alabama wants to come home, and who could blame her? This would be a heartwarming human interest story were it not for just a few inconvenient details: Hoda Muthana left Alabama to join the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria, and she can’t return because she was stripped of her American citizenship. But she is making a new appeal to come back now, and her attorney is claiming (how did you guess?) that she is a victim, and thus the red carpet should be rolled out for her.

The Associated Press reported Monday that Hoda Muthana, who “ran away from home in Alabama at the age of 20, joined the Islamic State group and had a child with one of its fighters says she still hopes to return to the United States, serve prison time if necessary, and advocate against the extremists.” Muthana currently resides in the Roj detention camp in Syria, and claims in a new interview that she was “brainwashed by online traffickers into joining the group in 2014 and regrets everything except her young son, now of pre-school age.” Muthana declared, “If I need to sit in prison, and do my time, I will do it. … I won’t fight against it. I’m hoping my government looks at me as someone young at the time and naive.”

Sure. But whoever “brainwashed” Muthana did a thorough job, as she once urged Muslims in the United States to “go on drivebys, and spill all of their blood,” that is, the blood of non-Muslims. Among the many hair-raising things she wrote on social media was “Terrorize the kuffar [non-Muslims] at home.” And, “Men and women altogether. You have much to do while you live under our greatest enemy, enough of your sleeping! Go on drive-bys and spill all of their blood, or rent a big truck and drive all over them. Veterans, Patriot, Memorial etc Day parades Kill them.”

Muthana also wrote: “We have men (and women!) who love death as ardently as you love your lives! I was watching an American documentary on a battle in Afghanistan and the Americans are such cowards. Crying and shaking on the battlefield and saying, ‘our aim is to get everyone home where they belong.’ While our men’s aim on the battlefield is to reunite with our Lord. Our honor is in jihad, either victory or shahadah [Islamic martyrdom]. These men cry for their lives while we cry for our death (shahadah)!”

Charming indeed. But AP reports that Muthana “now says her phone was taken from her and that the tweets were sent by IS supporters.” Well, maybe, but it isn’t as if she suddenly found herself in ISIS domains by chance and against her will. She was, according to AP, “raised in a conservative Muslim household in Hoover, Alabama, just outside Birmingham. In 2014, she told her family she was going on a school trip but flew to Turkey and crossed into Syria instead, funding the travel with tuition checks that she had secretly cashed.” Her actions were so egregious that the Obama administration, of all people, took the unusual step of revoking her American citizenship in 2016.

Now, however, Muthana is playing the victim card for all it’s worth: “Even here, right now,” in the refugee camp, “I can’t fully say everything I want to say. But once I do leave, I will. I will be an advocate against this. I wish I can help the victims of ISIS in the West understand that someone like me is not part of it, that I as well am a victim of ISIS.” Her attorney, Hassan Shibly, claims that it is “absolutely clear that she was brainwashed and taken advantage of.” Shibly added, “She was absolutely misguided, and no one is denying that. But again, she was a teenager who was the victim of a very sophisticated recruitment operation that focuses on taking advantage of the young, the vulnerable, the disenfranchised.”

Disenfranchised? How’s that again? Hoda Muthana was disenfranchised in the United States? Was she barred from voting? Barred from holding certain jobs, or from entering certain areas? Was she a second-class citizen in some way? Of course not. Shibly’s charge is hysterical and baseless, and of course he did not bother to explain what he meant. He didn’t have to. He was just repeating the words that he knows work among American Leftists. And they very well may work again this time, and soon send Hoda Muthana back to her sweet home Alabama.

Superfood: Caribbean breadfruit traced back to Captain Bligh’s 1791-93 journey

The answers to a centuries-old mystery may also impact food security for island nations that are highly susceptible to climate change.

Then-Lieutenant William Bligh was the captain of the HMS Bounty when the ship’s mutiny occurred in 1789. After being set adrift in Bounty’s launch by the mutineers on board, Bligh and 18 sailors who remained loyal to him and were thrown aboard all reached the southeast Asian island of Timor.

Many people might be familiar with Bligh from Mutiny on the Bounty, a classic book and a film starring Clark Gable that fictionalized the arduous journey and mission’s ultimate failure. The film was later remade twice, with Marlon Brando in 1962 and Anthony Hopkins in 1984.

In 1793, Bligh docked another ship, the HMS Providence, in Kingstown in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, a small island nation in the Caribbean Sea, with cargo filled with several hundred sapling breadfruit trees. His goal was unique – to introduce the long-lived trees with their carbohydrate-rich fruits to cheaply feed Britain’s slaves who labored on the islands’ sugar plantations.

Five lineages of breadfruit

The expedition failed to inventory what types of breadfruit they introduced. Caribbean people cared for the breadfruit, enabling it to thrive. Now, 230 years later, a plant biology team led by Northwestern University, the Chicago Botanic Garden and the St. Vincent Botanical Gardens has, for the first time, traced five major lineages of Caribbean breadfruit back to that single introduction from Bligh’s voyage.

Seventeen years after the Bounty mutiny in 1806, he was appointed governor of New South Wales in Australia with orders to clean up the corrupt rum trade of the New South Wales Corps. His actions directed against the trade triggered the Rum Rebellion, during which Bligh was placed under arrest and deposed from his command, an act that the British Foreign Office later declared to be illegal. He died in London on December 7, 1817.

For the first time, the team identified five lineages in the Caribbean and connected them to the original Tahitian lineages introduced in 1793. Not only have the original breadfruit tree cultivars (or varieties produced by selective breeding) survived for centuries, they also are thriving, the researchers found.

The study has just been published in the journal Current Biology under the title “Linking breadfruit cultivar names across the globe connects histories after 230 years of separation,” on the 230th anniversary of Bligh’s arrival in the Caribbean. “Breadfruit is an underutilized crop, and it doesn’t get nearly as much attention as the major crops. However, interest in breadfruit is increasing globally, and we thought this would be a fascinating puzzle to solve,” said Nyree Zerega, the study’s senior author.

An important crop for food security

“Outside of Oceania, the Caribbean is one of the largest producers of breadfruit worldwide,” added Lauren Audi, the study’s first author. “We really don’t know much about the genetic diversity of the fruit in the Caribbean. Because this is an important crop for food security – especially for island nations that are highly susceptible to climate change – we wanted to characterize the genetic diversity of breadfruit crops in order to conserve them. The first step for that is to characterize the diversity of what we already have.”

A breadfruit expert, Zerega is director of the Program in Plant Biology and Conservation of Northwestern’s Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences and the Chicago Botanic Garden, Audi was a graduate student in Zerega’s laboratory at the time of the research and is now a lab manager at the Sackler Institute for Comparative Genomics at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.

“When you look at the logs from the Bounty, Bligh carefully documented what was collected,” Zerega said. “But on his second voyage, the time spent in Tahiti was shorter, and there weren’t any notes about the names of the breadfruit cultivars they actually collected. He did indicate that five kinds of seedless breadfruit were collected, but subsequent historical texts have suggested different numbers. Wanting to know this is partly curiosity, but it’s also useful because it links cross-cultural knowledge about the plants.”

The lack of historical records from Providence is not the only reason why characterizing breadfruit genetic diversity in the Caribbean has been challenging. There are several genetic challenges – seedless breadfruit trees have three copies of chromosomes, instead of two, which is more common. There are not as many genetic tools designed to analyze triploids compared to diploids.

Triploid breadfruit trees also are unable to reproduce sexually and can only survive if humans propagate them by cloning. “When you bite into a honey crisp apple, you expect a different taste and texture than a McIntosh,” Zerega explained. “Clonal propagation ensures that you get what you expect. When plants develop seeds through sexual reproduction, they give rise to variation in offspring – just like the variation among human siblings.”

Over thousands of years of clonal propagation, however, variation can still arise due to somatic mutations, which are mutations in the tree’s non-reproductive cells. Somatic mutations can occur spontaneously, due to stress or errors in DNA repair. In search of the best fruits, humans sometimes select the part of the plant where the somatic mutation occurred and propagate it. So, if the mutation gives rise to a desirable new leaf or fruit type, people can cut the branch where the mutation occurred, propagate it and essentially clone that new mutation to grow a tree with the desirable fruit again.

The researchers combined local knowledge with historical documents and specimens, observations about the fruit’s size, shape, texture and targeted genome sequencing. They traveled throughout St. Vincent, collecting leaves and taking measurements of leaf and fruit size and shape. Then, they supplemented these samples with historical dried, pressed specimens stored in herbaria in museums and botanic gardens around the world – including a specimen collected in 1769 from the HMS Endeavor voyage led by Captain James Cook. Finally, the scientists were able to provide answers to a centuries-old mystery as to which kind of breadfruit was cultivated by Bligh.

Although breadfruit began with a dark history in the Caribbean as slave food, the nutritious fruit eventually became an important part of island diet and culture. Despite having “fruit” in its name, breadfruit is starchy and seedless, playing a culinary role more like a potato. Closely related to jackfruit, the nutrient-rich food is high in fiber, vitamins and minerals.

In its native Oceania where breadfruit was domesticated, people have been eating breadfruit for thousands of years – steamed, roasted, fried or fermented. Breadfruit also can be turned into flour to lengthen its shelf life. Once established, a single breadfruit tree can live for decades, producing a large number of fruits each year, and, because it’s a perennial crop, it also requires less water and fertilizer than annual crops that must be replanted each year. Like other trees, it also removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
