MSNBC host Joy Reid claims Americans had NEVER heard the word 'inflation' until the GOP 'taught it to them' - as it rises to 40 year high under Biden
- Days ahead of the midterm, the MSNBC host said that GOP operatives and politicos had 'taught' US voters the term inflation ahead of the election
- Reid claimed that the term is not a part of the lexicon of everyday Americans, despite the figure rising to a four-decade high during the Biden presidency
- Inflation, which hit 8.2% in September and was higher the month before that, is impacting the ability of many Americans to provide for their families
Controversial MSNBC host Joy Reid has claimed that the word 'inflation' is not a standard part of the 'normal lexicon' of Americans, and that most people using it learned it from political operatives during this midterm cycle.
Speaking with her network colleague Nicole Wallace, Reid said the 'only people I've ever heard use the word inflation are journalists and economists.'
The progressive host added that most people have 'never used that word ever in their lives' prior to this election cycle, in which Republicans are heavily favored for several reasons including the bleak economic forecast and rising cost of household goods.
While Reid - host of 'The ReidOut' - argued that Republicans have 'taught people the world inflation,' polls ahead of Tuesday's election have consistently shown that voters' top concerns include inflation, the economy in general and crime.
Inflation has hit a 40-year-high in the US, placing many Americans in dire financial situations as they struggle to afford rent, basic utilities and food for their families. But Reid chose to dismiss the concept and, in particular, the word as an elitist economic concept that would never make it into the minds or mouths of everyday Americans without the pushing of GOP politicos.
The September inflation rate hit 8.2%, a figure that the Biden administration called 'progress.' October's inflation rate will be announced on November 10.
MSNBC host Joy Reid said that Republicans have taught Americans the word inflation ahead of this year's midterm and would not otherwise be a part of the lexicon of everyday people
Wallace was perfectly happy to parrot former President Barack Obama's campaign trail talking points as Democrats close in on what could be a bloody Tuesday evening.
Despite the serious financial predicament many Americans find themselves in due to soaring inflation numbers and a generally downturned economy, Reid's take on the issue is that 'it's interesting that Republicans are doing something they don’t normally do, which is not use the common tongue, not use just common English like they sort of do on their campaigns like they do with crime.'
Despite her claim that inflation is a term used only by high-minded reporters and economists, the pundit did mention that the state where she resides, Florida, has become increasingly expensive.
'My family moved here because it was an affordable place to buy a house. No more. It's now more expensive to buy in Miami than it is in New York, ' she said.
MSNBC: Republicans Invented Inflation
Republicans “taught people the word inflation."
On the heels of New York Democrats blaming Mayor Eric Adams for convincing people that crime exists, we’ve got MSNBC’s Joy Reid trying to blame Republicans for inventing inflation.
What you’re seeing here is a movement that has completely lost the argument and decided to just take one look at reality and jump out of the plane without a parachute on.
We’re way beyond Peter Jennings claiming that voters threw a tantrum or Van Jones’ ‘Whitelash’.
Having lost the argument on crime and inflation, the Left has decided to double down on these being imaginary problems invented by Republicans. And then claiming that Republicans have brilliantly convinced people that crime and inflation are things that actually exist.
Joy Reid, who was born in 1968, which means that she was a kid, but still around the last time inflation went stratospheric, pretends that Republicans somehow taught people the word ‘inflation’ and then people are ignorantly using the word to describe all sorts of prejudices and problems.
The Democrats should be sharpening their argument in the final stretch of the midterms, instead, they’ve decided to go full Iraqi Information Minister on the problem.
But then again this SNL Carter parody is now the actual political program of California Democrats.
Also apparently Republicans taught the word inflation to Saturday Night Live and Dan Ackroyd.
