CNN's Chris Cuomo was 'like a boiling pot' in Easter clash over breaking quarantine, cyclist says

CNN's Chris Cuomo resembled "a boiling pot" when he was confronted for not self-quarantining with the coronavirus earlier this month, a Long Island, N.Y., bicyclist told Fox News Friday night.
David Whelan shared his story during an appearance on "Tucker Carlson Tonight."
"It was Easter Sunday evening, it was chilly and cold," Whelan recalled. "I grew up about 1,000 feet from where he [Cuomo] is building his new house, which is nothing but a steel frame [at this point].
"I go by, down the trail that runs past where his new structure is being built and there's a bunch of people there," Whelan continued. "I've been riding for seven or eight miles, take a little break, and am just walking. And a woman says 'May I help you?' I said 'No, I'm just looking'."

At that point, Whelan said, he thought he recognized Cuomo, who announced March 31 that he had tested positive for coronavirus. Whelan said he asked Cuomo if he had the coronavirus and was supposed to be in self-quarantine.
"I think his next words were, 'What the hell do you know about this? What do you know about the rules?'," the cyclist recalled.
Whelan told host Tucker Carlson that his daughter is a physician at Johns Hopkins University and he has become accustomed to noticing and calling out violations of social distancing guidelines.
"He continued to come closer and closer, and I would like to say he's like a boiling pot, you could see his head," Whelan recalled. "He was just getting more and more angry. And I said, 'So are you gonna lose your temper like you did on the guy at Shelter Island?'"
At a private event last year in the Hamptons community, Cuomo was caught on tape swearing profusely at a man who called him "Fredo," a reference to the weak, younger Corleone brother in "The Godfather." At the time, Cuomo claimed he was the victim of an anti-Italian slur and appeared to threaten to "throw [the man] down [a flight of] stairs" and "f---ing ruin [his] s--t."
Whelan told Carlson that after a few moments of Cuomo venting at him, Whelan wanted to "move on" with his ride.

He claimed no one in the group with Cuomo had gloves or masks, but said he understood the family likely has "cabin fever" like much of America.
"But he [Cuomo] told me he was going to meet me, and he goes 'You are going to meet me over this, you will meet me again over this'. At that point, he's now getting about 40 feet away," Whelan said.
When Carlson asked Whelan whether he had been tested for coronavirus after coming in contact with an infected person, Whelan responded that testing tends to be for privileged people like Cuomo, whose late father, Mario Cuomo, was a governor of New York, and whose brother Andrew Cuomo is the state's current governor.
"For most normal people, you can't get tested," Whelan said. "I made my own mask weeks ago, I hit it with alcohol every day."

Fredo's wife bathes in Clorox :)

Chris Cuomo's wife Cristina is mocked for saying she bathed in CLOROX to treat coronavirus

  • Cristina Cuomo says she put half a cup of Clorox in her bath twice a week as she battled against coronavirus
  • She says it was recommended to her by an energy medicine doctor
  • Social media users were quick to criticize its dangers
  • Clorox warns not to bath in the bleach on its website
  • It came as her husband Chris criticized President Trump on his CNN show for suggesting unorthodox coronavirus cures
  • Cristina and Chris Cuomo have recovered while their son Mario is still ill
The wife of CNN host Chris Cuomo is being criticized after revealing on her lifestyle blog that she poured half a cup of Clorox in her bath twice a week to help cure her coronavirus.
Magazine editor Cristina Cuomo shared that the bleach is ‘technically salt’ and she used it to ‘combat the radiation and metals in my system’, in direct contrast to warnings given by Clorox that contact with skin should be avoided.
Cristina, 50, claims the advice was provided by Dr. Linda Lancaster, who describes herself as an energy medicine and homeopathic physician and lists high-profile names such as Robert Redford among her clients.
Cristina, Chris, 49, and their son Mario Cuomo, 14, all tested positive for coronavirus although she and her husband have since recovered.

Social media users quickly hit out at Cristina Cuomo for posting about her Clorox baths

‘At the direction of my doctor, Dr. Linda Lancaster, who reminded me that this is an oxygen-depleting virus, she suggested I take a bath and add a nominal amount of bleach. Yes, bleach,’ Cristina wrote.
‘So, I add a small amount– ½ cup ONLY–of Clorox to a full bath of warm water–why? To combat the radiation and metals in my system and oxygenate it.’
She also shared a direct quote from Lancaster in which the natural medicine physician claims that bleach is essentially salt.
'We want to neutralize heavy metals because they slow-up the electromagnetic frequency of our cells, which is our energy field, and we need a good flow of energy. Clorox is sodium chloride–which is technically salt. There is no danger in doing this. It is a simple naturopathic treatment that has been used for over 75 years to oxygenate the cells,' Lancaster said.
'Household bleach is not chlorine.'
Social media users immediately hit back at Cristina’s recommendation, branding it ‘stupidity’ and highlighting that bleach is not ‘technically salt’.
‘My god, Chris Cuomo’s wife, Cristina, may be one of the dumbest people alive,’ one wrote.
‘She BATHED IN CLOROX to treat Coronavirus. She calls Clorox, “sodium chloride” which is technically salt. In reality, Clorox is sodium hypochlorite, Note: she graduated from Cornell...’

‘I still don’t understand how this isn’t parody. I just can’t even,’ added another.
One accused her of editing the post, adding in the salt claim after the initial backlash.
‘Cristina Cuomo has now stealth edited her piece to claim that Clorox is “technically salt,"’ they said.
‘It’s absolutely is not, and unless a doctor prescribed a bleach bath for an extreme skin infection, it definitely compromises your body’s natural immune defenses.’
‘Please do not let an influencer influence you to bathe in Clorox,’ warned one Twitter user.
‘Stupidity is also an epidemic!'
People rushed online to warn that the Clorox cure is potentially harmful

The advice flies in the face of warnings given by Clorox themselves, who say that direct skin contact should always be avoided.
The company lists specific advice about bathing in the bleach on its website stating: ‘Clorox® Regular Bleach2 is NOT recommended for personal hygiene of any kind–consumers should always avoid direct skin and eye contacts with both undiluted bleach, as well as prolonged contact with the various bleach solutions we recommend for household cleaning and laundry.’
It adds that customers may be familiar with advice to use bleach to treat water for consumption in an emergency but highlights that this ratio is significantly smaller, with only 1/8 teaspoon bleach needed per gallon of clear water.
The half cup recommended in Cuomo’s post is about 120 times more chlorine than is necessary to sterilize water out in the wild to drink.
On her own social media accounts, Lancaster has shared Cuomo’s recovery advice but highlights that ‘these recommendations should be discussed with your practitioner’.
On her website, she also features praise from other high-profile clients that include actress Amanda Seyfried, actor Robert Redford and model Miranda Kerr.
DailyMail.com reached out to Lancaster's practice Light Harmonic but they said they could not comment on specific recommendations given to any patient but did not recommend the use of Clorox.
'There is no known cure for the COVID-19 illness and we do not recommend Clorox Baths as a treatment or cure for any virus including the novel coronavirus,' they said in an email.

Just as Cristina was receiving backlash online for the Clorox baths, her husband Chris was using his nightly CNN show to hit out at the cure suggestions made by President Trump.
Trump proposed unorthodox new treatments for the coronavirus at Thursday's White House press briefing – including use of ultraviolet lights.
Trump asked William Bryan, a senior Homeland Security science and technology advisor: 'Supposing we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it's ultraviolet or just very powerful light? And I think you said, that hasn't been checked but you're going to test it.
It came after Bryan delivered a report claiming that ultraviolet rays and heat have a potent impact on the pathogen.
The 'study' - which was not peer-reviewed and therefore is not a fully-fledged piece of research - also uncovered that bleach can destroy the virus when isolated from saliva within five minutes, while isopropyl alcohol took just a minute to kill it.
Both of those were when the virus was outside the body.

Coronavirus Kills More Americans in One Month Than the Flu Kills in One Year

https://www.yahoo.com/news/coronavirus-kills-more-americans-one-162549658.html

Although there is still much we don’t know about the coronavirus, we know enough to say that it is far more dangerous and deadly than the flu. It took twelve months and 61 million infections for the H1N1 swine flu to kill 12,500 Americans in 2009–10. The Centers for Disease Control estimated that the seasonal flu killed 34,200 Americans during the 2018–19 flu season. In 2019, car crashes killed 38,800 Americans.
As for the new coronavirus? On March 20, the death toll in the United States was 225. By April 20, the coronavirus had killed more than 42,000 Americans.
Last week The New Atlantis produced a chart that starkly portrays just how quickly COVID-19 became one of the leading causes of death in the United States:

Despite the rapidity with which the coronavirus has killed tens of thousands of Americans, some on the right have continued to argue that the pandemic will end up being no more serious than a bad flu season. On Fox News last week, Bill Bennett said that “we’re going to have fewer fatalities from this than from the flu.” He pointed to the fact that the IMHE model from the University of Washington estimated that COVID-19 would most likely kill about 60,000 Americans and that the seasonal flu killed 61,000 Americans in 2017–18, a particularly bad flu season.
But as Rich Lowry pointed out last week, “if we are going to have 60,000 deaths with people not leaving their homes for more than a month, the number of deaths obviously would have been higher — much higher — if everyone had gone about business as usual.” Indeed, the IMHE model is making an estimate of the death toll only for a first wave of infections, and most of the country will still be vulnerable to infection after the first wave passes.
While there are 800,000 confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States — that’s 0.24 percent of the U.S. population — former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb has noted that anywhere between 1 percent and 5 percent of Americans may have actually already been infected with the virus. But that’s far short of the 50 percent to 70 percent required to achieve herd immunity. The seasonal flu, by contrast, infected 12 percent of the American population last year because we have a flu vaccine and some more immunity from previous infections.
Not only does the new coronavirus have the potential to infect many more people than the seasonal flu does, it appears to kill a greater percentage of those infected. You don’t need to rely on various statistical models to come to that conclusion. You just have to look at the reality of what has already happened around the world and in our own country.
The seasonal flu kills 0.1 percent of people infected, but the new coronavirus has already killed 0.1 percent of the entire population of the state of New York. That may seem like a small percentage. But imagine the entire country getting hit as badly as New York state: 0.1 percent of the U.S. population is 330,000 people. And there’s no reason to believe that New York’s current death toll marks the upper limit of the virus’s lethality.
The Wall Street Journal reported that confirmed coronavirus cases in the Italian province of Bergamo (population 1.1 million) had killed 0.2 percent of the entire population in one month. The true percentage may be higher: There were 4,000 more deaths in Bergamo in March 2020 than the average number of deaths in March in recent years, but only 2,000 of those deaths were attributed to confirmed COVID-19 cases.
We are talking not about statistical models of what might happen in the future but about the reality of what has already happened. The virus has killed 100 Italian doctors. That doesn’t happen during a bad flu season. The virus has killed 30 employees of the New York City Police Department. That doesn’t happen during a bad flu season.
And then there’s the experience of China, where the official death toll in Wuhan is 2,500, according to the Communist regime. But there are reports that the true death toll in Wuhan (a city of 10 million) was more than 40,000 people. That’s 0.4 percent of the city’s entire population.
Almost all conservatives are skeptical of Communist China’s official coronavirus death toll. Why, then, do some think that the coronavirus is not much more deadly than the flu? Did Communist China, a regime not known for valuing human life, shut down much of its economy for a couple of months because of a bad flu? Or did Communist leaders fear that without the costly shutdown the virus would inflict much greater harm on their nation and threaten their grip on power?
You don’t have to have a Ph.D. in epidemiology to answer those questions.
No nation can afford to endure a lockdown until a vaccine is developed for the new coronavirus. But having a proper understanding of the virus’s past and present danger matters. Knowing that it is extremely unlikely that the threat will be gone once the first wave passes will help guide the government, businesses, and individuals to take precautions that will limit the virus’s death toll in the months to come.

Pelosi says Trump gets an 'F' on coronavirus: 'Delay, denial, death'

https://www.yahoo.com/news/pelosi-says-trump-gets-f-135105650.html

WASHINGTON — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., excoriated President Donald Trump Wednesday morning for what she called his lack of preparation and poor handling of coronavirus testing across the country.
Pelosi said in an interview with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that "if you do not test, you cannot possibly know the size of the challenge,” which she said is why testing is the key to reopening the U.S. economy.
"For our seniors in nursing homes and the rest, as you say, there's a big toll being taken there. But if we can test and contact and isolate people, we're on a very much better path," Pelosi said. "There's a Boy Scout saying, 'Proper preparation prevents poor performance.' Well, that is exactly where the president gets an F.”
“He was not properly prepared, not with the truth, with the facts, or the admission of what was happening in our country — delay, whatever, delay, denial, death,” she added. “And instead we'd like to see him insist on the truth and we must insist on the truth with him.”
The speaker said she wishes that Trump wouldn’t be an “agent of distraction" and suggested that his latest decision to suspend immigration into the U.S. is merely a “distraction from his failure on testing.”
Pelosi’s comments come as the House prepares to vote Thursday on an interim coronavirus relief bill to aid small businesses and hospitals, which will also allocate $25 billion for COVID-19 testing.
The Senate passed the nearly $500 billion interim bill on Tuesday, which includes additional money for the Paycheck Protection Program, a small-business loan program created in the last major stimulus package that ran out of money last week.
Scientists have debunked what some White House officials have said about needing only a certain level of testing, Pelosi said.
“We're never going to get there at the snail pace that they are putting forth,” she said. “But you have seen scientists outside, academics and the rest setting a standard three times higher than what the White House is talking about. So we have put the resources there. We're prepared to do more in terms of the testing in the next legislation.”
Governors have blasted Trump over his claims that the U.S. has been conducting a sufficient level of coronavirus testing. Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican, obtained half a million testing kits from South Korea because of the lack of access to testing domestically.
Trump said at Tuesday’s White House briefing that the U.S. “has tested more people than anybody anywhere in the world by far. By very far.” NBC News has repeatedly fact checked this statement. While the U.S. has run the highest number of raw tests, it has not conducted the most per capita.
