South Africa: Iris Potgieter hijacked, beaten to death whilst delivering a TV in Dewetsdorp township

Iris Potgieter hijacked, beaten to death whilst delivering a TV in Dewetsdorp township

A week ago Postmasburg’s milk delivery man, Andries de Klerk (57), was attacked and thrown with a stone against his head by youths whilst delivering milk in the black township of Postmasburg – he died the next day – and now a 64 year old grandmother of Dewetsdorp in the Free State has been brutally beaten to death during a vehicle hijacking whilst she was in the black township of Dewetsdorp to take a TV set to somebody there.

Clearly “our people” have declared black areas as no-go zones and death acres for white people and this whilst the ANC and the liberal world establishment fought so long and hard to have “apartheid” abolished.

Iris Potgieter (64), was brutally murdered, and possibly also raped, in the black township of Dewetsdorp. She had transported a TV set to somebody in the township on Wednesday afternoon 25 August 2021, when she was attacked on her way back.

She was beaten with a blunt object against her head. Her body was later found in a field. Her vehicle is still missing.

She was driving a very old red City Golf with registration number CNF842MP, which was barely running. Yet she was murdered for it.

The couple Annie Liebenberg (62) and Michel Zantow (64) was also brutally murdered last weekend in Sasolburg. They were brutally hacked to death with axes.

Police arrested their black gardener and an accomplice in connection with the murders. The motive for the attack was robbery.

The 82 year old Flo Schwartz was also murdered by her black gardener in her home in East London about a week ago. Robbery was also established as the motive.

Analysis:

Why are white people seemingly still under the impression that it is not dangerous to go into a black township alone?
What is a white sickly female doing alone in a black township?
Yes according to her she was being a Samaritan and all that. But the young black barbarians in the township did not get that memo.
It appears as if white folk, especially the elderly, are easily indoctrinated by the liberal mass media that we live in a peaceful ” rainbow nation” whilst it is clearly just a big lie.

Warnings have been sent out on a regular basis that it is becoming increasingly deadly to appoint black workers in your garden and house because the white employers get attacked and murdered by these black workers on a regular basis. Whole white families have been murdered by their black garden and house workers before. So why still do it?

It has also been proven on numerous occasions that black farm workers are the ones giving out detailed information to farm attackers. That is why farm attackers are always so well informed about the movements of white farmers and their families.

The reality is that there is a lot of incitement by black political leaders from the ANC and EFF against white people. This is causing hate and resentment amongst black people against white people which lead them to believe that white people are legitimate targets for attacks.
The hate mongering against us white people leads to the fact that we are seen as less than human and that it is actually justified that we are stolen from.

The liberal mass media also maintains the worldwide anti-white narrative which largely contribute to the same problem.
We can just look at the statistics of tens of thousands of white people who have been murdered by attackers from the black majority since the ANC started to rule South Africa.

Unfortunately many white people, especially the elderly, will still die for their gardens and lawns or because they want to be Mother Theresa type do-gooders.

It seems old habits die hard and the white community is very resistant to changing old habits. It is incumbent upon children to warn their parents against appointing black house and garden workers because chances are good you will be attacked and murdered by them eventually.

It is time to wake up to the reality that a slow war is being fought against us white minority as a racial group.

We are the targets of daily violent attacks emanating from the black majority and also on the receiving end of numerous laws discriminating against us on the basis of race.

It is high time to realise charity starts at home and that we will have to return to our own people to provide goods and services, and trade with our own people, if we want to live and not be murdered in this country.

Climate activists want a new US central bank chief — here’s why

Climate activists want a new US central bank chief — here’s why

Current US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell has drawn ire from Republicans for his policies regarding climate change, while progressives feel he hasn’t gone far enough to address the crisis.

Just call it bankerpalooza, virtual edition.

On Friday, central bankers, finance ministers, government officials, academics and financial market participants are set to discuss the biggest economic issues facing the United States and the world as part of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s Economic Policy Symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

This year’s gathering will be held virtually due to concerns about the fast-spreading Delta variant of the coronavirus.

But protestors eager to use the heavy-hitting economic policy event to shed a light on climate change concerns have already taken action in person.

Earlier this month, professional hikers and climate advocates associated with climate action organisation 350.org climbed to the top of Teewinot Mountain in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park and unfurled a banner that read “Stop the Money Pipeline”.

The group is among several environmental organisations that are calling on policymakers to use Jackson Hole as an opportunity to commit to making domestic and global economic policy “steered toward a modern, clean energy economy to meet the demands of climate change”.

Here’s what you need to know about climate activists’ demands on the US Federal Reserve — and what they want to see happen with its current chair, Jerome Powell.

Rewind. What does the Fed have to do with climate change?

Plenty. The Fed, the US’s central bank, is responsible for oversight of the country’s financial system, and therefore has a role to play in pushing the US toward a greener economy — or not.

The Jackson Hole symposium will also be attended by government and finance officials from other nations who have the power to do the same.

What has the Fed said in the past about climate change?

In March, the Fed released a report that analysed financial stability risk arising from climate change. And last year, the Fed joined an international organisation of central banks and regulators to “coordinate on managing the risks that climate change poses to the financial industry”.

These risks include backing banks that invest in mortgages in houses in environmentally vulnerable areas, like those prone to flooding. Another risk is backing loans for oil and gas-based businesses that might fail if they’re unable to switch to renewable energy someday.

Does everyone like the Fed jumping in?

Nope. Like everything in the US’s highly polarised political climate, partisan disagreements on this issue abound.

Twelve Republican senators wrote a letter to Powell accusing the organisation of going “beyond the scope of the Federal Reserve’s mission”.

Powell addressed the backlash in an interview with the Economic Club of Washington, DC in April.

“The reason we’re focused on climate change is that our job is to make sure that financial institutions, banks, particularly the largest ones, understand and are able to manage the significant risks that they take,” Powell said. “We see it only through the lens of that existing mandate.”

What about progressives?

They’re not happy, either.

The US Fed received a grade of D- on a scorecard that was created by Positive Money, an advocacy group promoting a sustainable economy, and that was designed to rank central bank policies’ greenness across Group of 20 countries.

For context, China received the highest score, which was still a mediocre C.

However, the US, alongside most countries, did receive a 10 out of 10 from the group when it comes to “research and advocacy”. This, the organisation says, “shows that actions are failing to match up to words”.

So what do climate activists want to come from the Jackson Hole gathering?

Activists from 64 organisations, including 350.org, wrote to Powell urging several policy shifts.

First, they want fossil fuel investments to be phased out from the Fed, and policy adapted and formalised to incorporate climate risk. The groups are asking the US to take this step prior to the COP26 summit in November, when leaders from around the world will participate in a United Nations global summit on their plans to tackle climate change.

They also want to raise awareness about how central banks contribute to the climate crisis and see them change any policy and regulatory practices that are incompatible with the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change.

Climate activists also hope to put pressure on the Biden administration to appoint a “real climate leader” as Fed chairman, replacing Powell. The nomination is expected around the Labor Day holiday, which takes place in early September.

So will Powell be replaced?

Fed watchers seem to think it’s unlikely that Biden will replace Powell, especially as he continues to be a calm presence in a volatile economy still recovering from the shocks caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

While other names have been bandied about, including current Fed Governor Lael Brainard, Wall Street is backing Powell for a second term.

The White House has not commented on whether it is considering a Powell replacement. A progressive alternate would potentially have huge ripple effects not only on Wall Street but across the world.

But climate activists may have an opportunity for progressive influence even if Biden renominates Powell. That’s because Fed Vice Chairman Randal Quarles’s term expires in October.

Fed watchers believe Biden will replace Quarles, and anticipate Brainard, who could prioritise climate change more, might be on that shortlist.

In the meantime, even though the central bank summit is virtual this year, activists hope leaders will pause to note the smoke in the air from the recent West Coast wildfires, Mike Wittig, a member of 350 Silicon Valley, said in a statement, adding “We hope that the evidence of climate change literally before and in their eyes moves the Fed to emergency action needed on climate change.”

'NEVERMIND' BABY SUES NIRVANA FOR SEXUAL EXPLOITATION

'NEVERMIND' BABY SUES NIRVANA FOR SEXUAL EXPLOITATION

LOS ANGELES - The US man who featured as a baby on the cover of Nirvana's Nevermind album, one of the most famous album covers of all time, is suing the band for sexual exploitation, according to a lawsuit.

But neither Elden nor his legal guardians "ever signed a release authorizing the use of any images of Spencer or of his likeness, and certainly not of commercial child pornography depicting him," the lawsuit said.

It also said Elden had never received any compensation for the image, and asked for $150,000 in damages from each of the 15 defendants -- including the surviving former members of the band, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, as well as the estate of the late lead singer Kurt Cobain, and the photographer, Kirk Weddle.

The album cover "exposed Spencer's intimate body part and lasciviously displayed Spencer’s genitals from the time he was an infant to the present day," the lawsuit, filed in California, said.

It said Elden had suffered "extreme and permanent emotional distress," as well as "lifelong loss of income earning capacity," among other consequences.

Representatives for Nirvana or the members' record labels have not yet responded to the lawsuit.

Elden recreated the album cover multiple times, including for its 25th anniversaries.

Weddle, the original photographer, was a friend of his father's, the family told NPR in 2008.

They held a pool party during which Elden posed for the then-unknown band. Elden's parents were paid $200 for the original shoot.

South Africa Unemployment Rate Rises to Highest in the World

South Africa Unemployment Rate Rises to Highest in the World

Unwelcome Record

South Africa's jobless rate is the highest tracked by Bloomberg

Source: Statistics South Africa, Bloomberg

Note: Some data are for different periods

South Africa’s unemployment rate surged to the highest on a global list of 82 countries monitored by Bloomberg.

The jobless rate rose to 34.4% in the second quarter from 32.6% in the three months through March, Statistics South Africa said Tuesday in a report released in the capital, Pretoria. The median of three economists’ estimates in a Bloomberg survey was 33.2%.

Unemployment according to the expanded definition, which includes people who were available for work but not looking for a job, rose to 44.4% from 43.2% in the first quarter. While the unemployment rate is now the highest of the countries tracked by Bloomberg, the data from some of those nations is outdated.

The unemployment data is likely to deteriorate in the third quarter because the government tightened Covid-19 curbs in the face of a third wave of infections, hindering efforts to revive an economy that shrank 7% last year. Rising joblessness rate could heap pressure on authorities to extend relief measures that wouldcomplicate efforts to stabilize public finances.

There was also an eruption of deadly riots in July in the Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal provinces, two key economic hubs, which claimed 354 lives and saw thousands of businesses looted and shuttered. The unrest cost the country about 50 billion rand ($3.3 billion) in lost output and placed at least 150,000 jobs at risk, according to the South African Property Owners Association.

The unemployment rate in Africa’s most-industrialized economy has been above 20% for at least two decades, even though output expanded by 5% or more a year in the early 2000s.

South African companies’ ability to hire is undermined by an education system that doesn’t provide adequate skills, and strict labor laws that make hiring and firing workers onerous.

Key Figures:

  • Finance industry lost 278,000 jobs.
  • Community, social services lost 166,000 jobs.
  • Manufacturing lost 83,000 jobs.
  • Construction added 143,000 jobs.
  • Agriculture added 69,000 jobs.

What’s cooking today: Rump tail cap on the braai

What’s cooking today: Rump tail cap on the braai

By Tony Jackman• 25 August 2021

The rump tail is also known as the picanha, coulotte, rump cap or tri-tip and is probably the most underrated and overlooked cut of beef, yet one of the finest. You can roast it, fry it in a pan or cook it slowly in a kettle braai or, as I did this week, braai it over very hot coals.

Rump tail cap perfectly describes what a picanha is. The cap is the thick layer of fat at the top. “Tail” literally refers to the triangular muscle at the beast’s rump end (which obviously is what rump also means) and the point is that it comprises just one muscle, whereas a rump steak has parts of several muscles, up to five. The picanha/rump tail therefore cooks evenly and will be tender throughout if not overcooked.

As for the cap of fat, whatever you do, don’t ask the butcher to remove it. That’s what gives a picanha its tremendous flavour, and you can cook it to a perfect golden crispiness. That’s “good” fat, and we all need some of it.

A rump tail is not huge, so don’t expect one to feed more than three people, or two really hungry ones. I’ve written about picanha before, which you can find here and also how to make chimichurri, with which it is often served, and if you haven’t tried this cut yet, get out there and change your beef life.

I usually grill picanha in a skillet or on the braai but this was quite a small tail end so I decided to marinate it and cook it on the braai in one piece, then served it in slices, rather than also braaing both sides of the cut steaks as in the recipe on the above link. This method also worked beautifully, so we’ve just broadened our mutual picanha cooking range. You’re welcome.

It’s the tail end of the orange season too, so it seemed fitting to use the juice and zest of one in the marinade along with fresh rosemary, ginger and garlic. Those flavours marry together very well.

I’d suggest you start by marinating the whole picanha in the morning so that it can develop all that flavour before you cook it.

Ingredients

Marinade:

2 Tbsp rosemary needles

Juice and zest of 1 late-season orange

3 cm piece of fresh ginger, peeled and minced (or grated finely)

3 garlic cloves, minced or finely grated

Rosemary salt to taste

Black pepper

A glug of olive oil

Method

Chop the rosemary needles as finely as you can and put them in a bowl or bakkie. Zest the orange and add it to the bowl, then squeeze the juice in.

Mince the garlic and ginger and add them, then season with salt and black pepper. Add a glug of olive oil, give it a stir, and immerse the whole rump tail in it, turning and massaging the marinade into the meat, then leave it in a cool place (no need to refrigerate unless it’s a very hot day) to take on all that lovely flavour. Anywhere between 4 and 8 hours will do the job, turning halfway through.

Prepare a fire and make sure you have plenty of very hot coals just when you’ll need them.

Grill the steaks close to the coals (even some flame can only improve their flavour) for 6 minutes for medium rare, starting with the fat side down, and make sure that the fat side gets most of the cooking time. I’d suggest 4 minutes on the fat side, and 2 more after turning. A minute less for rare, a minute or two more for well done, but I hope you don’t go there as it may ruin a superb piece of beef.

If you’ve made my rosemary salt, season the steak lightly while on the braai, on both sides. A crisp salad or my rosemary hasselback potatoes would be a good side for it.
