Analysis of Rampant Rise of Necrophilia in Muslim Nations: Difficulties of Translating Arabic

What’s Behind Reports of a ‘Rampant Rise’ of Necrophilia in Muslim Nations?

Connections between the disturbing practice of necrophilia and Islam are back in the news.

“In a shocking revelation,” starts one Apr. 29 report, “parents in Pakistan now guard their dead daughters against rape by putting padlocks to their graves. … [N]ecrophilia cases are on the rise in the country.”

Addressing this same phenomenon, another report states:

That a woman is raped every two hours in a country [Pakistan] taking great pride in its family-oriented values has been hammered to the point of repetition in our collective conscience. But the heart-wrenching sight of padlocks on the graves of females is enough for the entire society to hang its head in shame and never dare to look at the so-called vessels of honour. This is being done as a desperate bid to ensure the sanctity of dead bodies in case some randy monsters cherry-pick them to satiate their lust. Considering the rampant rise in necrophilia, one can’t help but understand the urge to protect loved ones.

This issue is not limited to Pakistan.  According to an Aug. 22, 2022 report, a female Afghan refugee to India “revealed that the Taliban has sex with dead bodies.”

What to make of these macabre revelations?  Is Islam really to blame?

As usual, when determining whether a practice is or is not Islamic, one must turn to the prophet of Islam: Muhammad.  According to a bizarre hadith (a recorded tradition concerning his sayings and doings) that exists in six of Islam’s classical reference texts (including the important Kanz al-‘Umal and al-Hujja fi Biyan al-Mahujja), Muhammad once took off his shirt, placed it on a dead woman, and then descended into her grave to “lay with her.”

As they hurled dirt atop the corpse and Muhammad, the grave diggers exclaimed, “O Prophet, we see you doing a thing you never did with anyone else,” to which he responded: “I dressed her in my shirt so that she may be dressed in heavenly robes, and I lay [myself] with her in her grave so that the pressures of the grave may be alleviated from her.”

Clearly, this hadith leaves much room for interpretation, and there is no reason to insist that Muhammad was actually copulating with the corpse.  There are, however, some hurdles:

First, the two Arabic words (ataja’ ma’ha اضطجع معها) translated above as “lay with her,” are also used in Arabic to mean “intercourse.”  This is similar to the English idiom “to lie with her,” which can literally mean nothing more than lying down with a woman but often is an indirect reference to sex.  More than a few Muslim clerics have made this linguistic observation.

Second, Sunni Islam’s four orthodox schools of jurisprudence (or madhahib al- fiqh) — namely, al-Hanafi, al-Hanbali, al-Maliki, and al-Shafi’i — implicitly permit necrophilia.  None of them actually addresses it on its own; rather, all of them give it a nod whenever it comes up in the context of other topics.  Thus, in the section on adultery, the Maliki teaching is that “[i]f a husband enters his dead wife — any which way, from front or behind — there is no penalty for him” (Sharh Mukhtasar al-Khalil fi al-fiqh al-Maliki).

Similarly, Shafi’i rulings on ablution point out that it is unnecessary to rewash the body of the dead — male or female, adds the Hanbali madhhab — after penetrating it, though the penis of the penetrator does require washing.

Regardless of all the above, it is not for the non-Muslim — certainly not for me — to tell Muslims what their texts are really saying and teaching.  That is the job of their ulema: scholars and clerics devoted to learning the deep truths of Islam.  Thus, the real question remains: do modern-day ulema permit necrophilia?

The lamentable answer is yes.  For instance, in 2011, a leading Moroccan cleric and founding member of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Abdul Bari Zamzami, issued a fatwa permitting the Muslim husband to copulate with his dead wife.  He prefaced his decree by saying that, although he does not necessarily approve of this act, it is not for him to ban what Islam permits.  As proof, he cited the aforementioned rulings of Islam’s schools of jurisprudence.

Soon thereafter, in April 2012, when the Muslim Brotherhood held the presidency of Egypt in the person of Mohamed Morsi, news that Islamist Egyptian parliamentarians were trying to pass a law legalizing necrophilia appeared.  Although Al Ahram, Egypt’s most reputable paper, reported the story, it was quickly dismissed as a hoax in Western media (which often happens whenever Islam makes the news in ways that do not comport with Western sensibilities).  As one journalist argued, “[t]his ugly rumor and hoax, thought to originate in a fatwa by [the aforementioned] sheikh Zamzami, a noted Moroccan cleric, should be doubted for the simple reason that no Egyptian Islamist sheikh, or any other Imam, has ever been reported to approve of necrophilia.”

An Egyptian cartoon pokes fun at the proposed “farewell intercourse” law of 2012. As the spirit of the deceased woman ascends, and as her husband lustfully eyes her corpse, she remarks: “O please, man—where were you when I was alive!”

If that was true in 2012, it wasn’t in 2017, when necrophilia was yet again mentioned and legitimized, this time by Sheikh Sabri Abdul Raeuf, a professor at Egypt’s Al Azhar — the Islamic world’s most prestigious university (which Pope Francis considers an ally).  During a televised show in Egypt, the sheikh and professor was asked if it is permissible for a husband to penetrate his wife after death.  He replied, “It is not favorable in Islam; however, Islamic law considers it as halal” — that is, permissible, not a crime or sin deserving of punishment in the here or hereafter.

A subsequent Youm7 Arabic report, titled (in translation) “The Books of al-Shafi’i, al-Hanbali, and al-Hanafi Reveal that Sex with a Dead Wife is Not Adultery,” verified the Al Azhar professor’s claims.

Muslim necrophilia has, incidentally, also made it to the West.  In the U.K., late one night in 2019, a Muslim man, Kasim Khuram, broke into a funeral home, opened several coffins, and, having made his “selections,” proceeded to yank out and “rape” two female corpses.  When police arrested him, Khuram explained his actions by laughingly saying, “Every hole is a goal.”

Despite all the above, necrophilia should not be seen as widespread among Muslims.  Indeed, whenever it makes the news in the Arab world, most Muslims — as can be expected of most decent people of whichever creed — respond with incredulity and revulsion.

Rather, the point here is that Islamic jurisprudence is so legalistically slavish to old, sometimes bizarre, texts and often ambiguously worded as to legitimize much that is repugnant to modern sensibilities.  Not only does this provide a moral — sometimes even pious — cover for deviants, but it also may attract them to Islam.

Just as pedophiles, rapists, sex-slavers, misaogynists, psychotic mass murderers, extortionists, and those eager to be “breastfed” by women or drink camel urine can find support in the teachings of Islam — in ways that the followers of other religions simply cannot — so too can those with depraved proclivities for the dead.

U.S. Politics: Next Joint Chiefs Chair Wants White Male Officers to be a Minority

Next Joint Chiefs Chair Wants White Male Officers to be a Minority

Milley was bad, Brown will be much worse.

May 11, 2023 by Daniel Greenfield, Front Page Magazine

When I was working on the David Horowitz Freedom Center’s ‘Disloyal Military’ investigation, I predicted that Air Force Chief of Staff Charles Q. Brown Jr. would be selected as the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The media is now reporting that Biden will indeed pick Brown to replace Milley. And as bad as Milley was, expect Brown to be much worse.

Under Gen. Brown, the Air Force has become the most woke of the major service branches.

Brown disgraced himself and his uniform during the Black Lives Matter race riots by releasing a video in which he “seemed to barely contain his rage” while ranting “that the ideals of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution ‘that I’ve sworn my adult life to support and defend’ have not always delivered ‘liberty and equality’ to all.”

What horrible acts of oppression did one of the most powerful men in the military experience that made him turn on America? In his own words to People Magazine, “When you get to senior levels, you have reserved parking spots around the base. I was in civilian clothes, I parked in a spot and someone came out and said, ‘That slot is reserved for the Pacific Air Force’s Commander.’ And I go, ‘Yeah, I know, because I am the Pacific Air Force’s Commander.’”

Someone questioned Brown’s parking space once and all the white male officers must pay.

What should we expect from Brown if he becomes the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff?

Last year, Brown, alongside Undersecretary of the Air Force Gina Ortiz Jones, the first gay and Filipino woman in her role, and other leaders, signed their names to one of the most shocking and destructive racist documents ever produced by the modern military.

The topic of the Air Force memorandum was officer quotas set by race and gender.

Similar quotas had been issued by political appointees in a politically correct military, but they had focused on slowly boosting minority officers rather than calling for a purge of white men.

The 2014 quotas had looked for an 80 percent white, 10 percent black and 8 percent Asian officer corps. While choosing officers by any racial category rather than merit is racist, wrong and illegal under civil rights legislation, this fell short of Brown’s proposed racist purge.

Brown’s quotas limit the number of white officers to 67% and cut white men down to 43%.

The Air Force officer corps is currently 77% white: getting it down to 67%, a reduction of 10%, would require serious effort to purge white officers and bar the doors to any new ones.

Reducing the number of white men in the officer corps to a minority, 43%, would cripple the service and wipe out generations of talent: especially when 86% of pilots are white men.

What do you do with those 86% of white male pilots?

Gen. Brown and his radical allies who are destroying the Air Force and endangering national security claim that their racist and illegal policy is necessary because “diversity and inclusion” are the “key to the success of any organization”. And that requires 7% multiracial officers.

But if that’s the case then why have Air Force readiness rates continued to drop even as the service became more diverse? Brown’s focus on “diversity and inclusion” has been a disaster.

The Air Force has not hit its aircraft readiness rates and the mission critical rates for fighter jets are catastrophic. The F-35A rate fell from 76% to 68% from 2020: the year that the Air Force went woke, endorsed Black Lives Matter and forced racial struggle sessions on its officers.

That was also the year that the White House nominated Brown as Chief of Staff.

In 2022, the rates fell to an outrageous 54%. That’s barely 1 in 2 available planes. In a major war, rates like these mean we would lose and hundreds of thousands of our people could die.

An Air Force Chief of Staff who presided over such a disaster should have been shown the door, unwelcome to work for even the worst and sleaziest defense contractors. Instead, in a triumph for ideology over national security, Biden reportedly wants Brown to be the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Considering how much damage he’s already done, imagine how much more devastation he will be able to wreak on the military in an even more senior position.

A recent wargame predicted that we could lose 900 planes in a clash with China over Taiwan with the Air Force losing as much as a third of its fighter/attack strength. Readiness rates like those on Brown’s watch and the loss of the talented pilots he wants to see gone because of the color of their skin and their sex would be the margin between victory and catastrophic defeat.

When taking office, Gen. Brown unveiled his “Accelerate Change or Lose” program. He accelerated change and the Air Force lost. And it’ll go on losing until it cleans house. Brown doesn’t have a vision for beating China, he has a vision of an Air Force with 4.5% male multiracial officers, 3.5% female Asian officers and only 43% white male officers.

That’s not a plan to win a foreign war with the best people, but to win a domestic identity politics war while perhaps securing some payback over his long lost parking space.

Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr. has overseen a service dominated by high-ranking racists with little to show for their time except racial division and a service branch in even worse shape.

“I am a Black man who happens to be the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force,” Kaleth Wright, now retired, had tweeted  “You don’t know the anxiety, the despair, the heartache, the fear, the rage and the disappointment that comes with living in this country… every single day.”

Anthony Cotton, the Commander of US Strategic Command, had claimed that, “when I see what happened to Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Rayshard Brooks—and the list goes on and on… that could be me.”

Last year, Cotton claimed that “diversity, inclusion are tools for national defense” and that diversity is a “warfighting imperative”. Earlier this year, six Air Force officers were fired over failed safety nuclear inspections, but Cotton got promoted.

“Shame on us if we miss this opportunity to make a change that’s required across our Air Force to make it better,” Brown had berated because the racial composition of personnel was still at least somewhat based on merit and ability rather than on his own racial preferences.

Is the Air Force going to be somehow better when it meets Brown’s quota of .5% Hawaiian female officers? Will it be stronger than the WWII Air Force whose men broke the aerial forces of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan? The new woke Air Force is struggling with recruitment, with readiness rates and couldn’t even manage to spot China’s spy balloons.

Gen. Brown has overseen a national security crisis at one of the crown jewels of national defense and as a reward, Biden would like to make this failed racist the nation’s highest-ranking military officer. Gen. Milley talked about studying white rage, Gen. Brown is suffused with his own racist rage that has led him to wreck the Air Force and, before long, the entire military.

Brown had decided that white male officers should be a minority in the Air Force. Is there any doubt that he would want to see a similar purge of white men across the whole military? With recruitment already an uphill battle, the military cannot afford a woke push to drive away the fighting men who have traditionally given their lives and fought for their country.

Nor can it risk putting woke racism ahead of competence and merit.

Republicans failed to take a stand against Brown’s elevation to Air Force Chief of Staff. If they do not stand up against his elevation to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, they will have no one to blame for the damage and lives lost that will follow from Chairman Brown’s tenure.

Pud says: the appointment of General Brown is meant to cripple the US military by having its officer corp lead by low IQ ethnic minorities & LGBTQ freaks

Hazards of Electric Vehicles: No Spare Tires :)

Mr May's car had to be towed because there was no spare tyre. Many Aussies users questioned why electric and some modern fuel-based cars did not come with spares

Aussie driver exposes huge problem with electric vehicles as he is forced to order a tow truck for his $128k Mercedes after breakdown

  • Eddy May's electric Mercedes-Benz suffered flat tyre
  • Vehicle did not come with spare
  • Many have questioned why EVs do not have spare tyres

An Australian driver has revealed one of the struggles of owning an electric car - the fact they don't come with spare tyres.

Eddy May and his wife, from Adelaide, were driving their electric Mercedes-Benz EQC-400, worth around $128,000, along a freeway on Sunday morning when something sliced open one of the wheels.

After pulling over to the side of the road, Mr May used the vehicle's in-car service feature to alert Mercedes about the flat tyre, given there wasn't a spare in his car.

'There's no spare in this f**king car because all the room is taken up with batteries and so forth,' he said.

WHY IS THERE NO SPARE TYRE IN MOST ELECTRIC VEHICLES?

- A heavy tyre adds too much extra weight to the car and reduces the range of the vehicle

- It is difficult to get enough physical clearance over the brake to fit a spare tyre

Mercedes-Benz arranged for a tow-truck to come and collect his car and gave Mr May a $200 cab voucher to get home.

He was told they'd fix the tyre and his car would be returned to him the following day.

While he praised the luxury car brand for their efficient service, his story sparked debate as to why electric and even many modern petrol and diesel powered cars were being made without spare tyres.

The majority of EVs do not come with spares due to extra weight they add to the vehicle and amount of space the tyre takes up.

'The reason is that it’s hard to get enough physical clearance over the brake to fit a spare wheel. These big and huge spare wheels are also very heavy – and extra weight costs range in an EV,' explained Tom Baker, editor of ChasingCars.com.au.

'For people based in metropolitan areas, within easy reach of roadside assistance and replacement tyres, that isn’t necessarily a major problem.

'But in big countries like Australia, where there can be vast distances between towns, it is a cause for concern.'

Mr Baker suggested that one of the solutions is purchase a spare tyre through your electric vehicle dealer.

'This set can then be placed in the boot of your vehicle – but this takes up a lot of space, and can be a major hazard if not tied down adequately,' he explained.

Mercedes Benz electric cars come with a tyre repair kit and compressor, but Mr May pointed out the 'three-inch slice' in his tyre was beyond repair.

'A lot of cars don't have spares these days,' one person commented.

'Not just EVs, nearly every new car,' said another.

'So many modern cars without spare wheels, what a nightmare!' wrote a third.

'EV or not, I will not buy a car without a spare wheel,' someone commented.

'If you had a spare you could have changed it and been on your way in 15 minutes max!'
