Coconut woman arrested by London Police

Woman, 36, is interviewed under caution by police over Palestine rally placard depicting Rishi Sunak and Suella Braverman as coconuts

A woman has been arrested after a wealthy school teacher was identified as the protester carrying a placard showing Rishi Sunak and Suella Braverman as coconuts. 

Marieha Mohsin Hussain was seen holding the banner depicting the Prime Minister and former home secretary as coconuts, a racist term used to imply that someone has betrayed their race.

She held the sign during Saturday's pro-Palestinian march in London where police made more than 120 arrests.

Today the Met said officers had interviewed a suspect. 

'Yesterday a woman attended a police station, after a picture on social media showed a placard depicting two politicians as coconuts,' a statement read. 'The 36-year-old was interviewed under caution on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.' 

A suspect will generally be interviewed under caution if she is suspected of an offense and detectives wish to gather further evidence, or elicit information revealing further lines of inquiry.

The police suspect her of involvement in a hate crime based on race.

In the United Kingdom, labeling someone as a “coconut” has led to the conviction of at least two individuals. Police said, “We’re investigating her in relation to a hate crime.

Ms Hussain, grew up in her family's £2million home in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, overprivileged and woke. She also attended several other protests, including one accusing the BBC of pro-Israeli bias.

Her mother confirmed that Hussain was on the march.

Since Hamas’ attack on Israel, she has attended numerous pro-Palestine demonstrations

Her father is Mohsin Ali, a dermatologist who qualified in Pakistan.

Police are investigating a possible racially-aggravated public order offence.
