IDF commandos intercepted almost all of the flotilla's 40 boats and took captive more than 450 foreign activists, including the 22-year-old Swedish nut case.

The Israeli foreign ministry said the arrested activists were in 'good health' and will be deported to Europe in the next few days.

Thunberg is incarcerated in the Ketziot prison in the Negev desert.

Activists may be in the Ketziot for multiple nights.

Palestinian terrorist detainees have made claims about the mistreatment they experienced at the prison, including severe beatings, medical negligence and being deprived of food and water.

Palestinian terrorist detainee Abdul Karim Mushtaha said he was threatened with castration.

'They would strip us naked. They would Taser us. They would hit us in a sensitive place. They would tell us "We will castrate you",' he said.

Another former terrorist inmate of the jail, Omar, said prisoners were often hit with batons by guards.

'"I was in pain all night - from my back to my legs. My body, my back, my legs - my whole body was blue from beatings. For nearly two months I couldn't move,' he said.

Israel said the flotilla was set to violate a 'lawful naval blockade' it has imposed on Gaza.

The activists were transferred to Ketziot Prison in southern Israel.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said that the navy had reached out to the flotilla to ask them to change course and to warn them that they were approaching 'an active combat zone.'

Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, said that activists on board the Gaza aid flotilla will be deported once the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur concludes.

'We will not allow any PR stunt approaching an active war zone to violate our sovereignty."

The flotilla was 'not interested in aid – only provocation'.

The 500-strong crew ignored repeated warnings and refused to hand over the aid so it could be delivered by land crossing.

Activists said two Israeli warships had approached their boats, jamming their communications, including the live cameras on board.

Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Saar called the flotilla a provocation and warned them to stop and transfer their aid through other channels into Gaza.

The Israeli government has accused some of the flotilla members of being linked to Hamas.

Its Ministry of Foreign Affairs released documents which proved some of the activists are linked to Hamas.

Israel’s defense minister, Israel Katz, dubbed the flotilla a Hamas terrorist operation.

Another committee member, political activist Marouan Ben Guettaia, was also a guest of Hamdan a few days after and later posted a picture of the pair sitting in front of a Hamas flag.

Yuval Shany, an expert on international law at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, said that as long as Israel's blockade of Gaza is 'militarily justified, Israel can intercept the vessels after prior warning'.

Israel's campaign was triggered by Hamas's Oct. 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel, in which Hamas terrorists killed some 1,200 people and abducted 250 others.

Thunberg had already been deported previously by Israel in June, when the ship she was travelling on with 11 other people, the Madleen, was stopped by the military.

Greg Stoker, an American activist aboard one of the boats in the current flotilla, said around a dozen naval vessels with their transponders off had approached it.

'They hailed our vessels, telling us to turn off our engines and await further instructions, or our boats would be seized and we would face the consequences.'

Live streams and communications with several vessels were lost.
