The Daily Mail is quoting “research” done by experts at 24/7 fitness on the amount of calories burned by different sexual positions during 30 minutes of sex.
Turns out standing is the winner with 343 calories burned between both partners.
Spooning, however, came in last place as it sees partners get rid of just 56 calories together.
Landing somewhere in the middle of the 11 sexual positions that were rated was doggy at No. 5 with 260 combined calories burned.
Genderwise, men burned the most calories in the standing position (198 calories), while women got rid of the most calories during squatting (188 calories).
“Sex revs up your heart rate, increases blood flow and improves flexibility,” Gary Lockwood, CEO at 24/7 Fitness, tells the British daily.
“You will achieve a greater range of motion during your workout and get better results,” he said. “Sex is also great for giving you better quality sleep. Better sleep means you are better rested for your next workout.”
“So, forget pre-workout drinks and potions. If you really want to prep for a great workout, have sex before you train!” Lockwood said.
