South Africa: Farm attacks forcing farmers to relocate, woman (69) assaulted, tied up, Fountain Head
Oorgrens veiligheid
A family has been forced to move from their farm and a number of farmers in Fountain Head, an area just outside eMkhomazi, in the KwaZulu Natal province of South Africa say they may are being forced to relocate due to the ongoing attacks, livestock theft, destruction of crops and homes that were being broken into.
In one incident a grandmother (69), was alone in the farmhouse when she saw three men playing with the dogs outside.
She went outside to tell them to leave and as she returned inside they followed her.
The woman was attacked and held at gunpoint then tied to a chair whilst the attackers raided the home.
The attackers loaded a number of stolen goods onto a bakkie and fled the scene. The woman who was severely traumatised has been losing consciousness and passing out on a regular basis and is receiving ongoing medical assistance.
The community say that they have had enough of being targeted by criminals.
For the elderly woman and husband, relocation is the only option due to the never-ending attacks. Leaving the farmhouse has been very difficult as the farm is on their ancestral land.
There have been no arrests. There is no other information available at this stage.
