Farm murder, man shot in stomach during home invasion, Rocky Drift - TotusTuus

The young man murdered in Rocky Drift, Nelspruit has been identified as Mason McClean. The farm attack and murder took place on the night of 16 June 2021, in Rocky Drift in the Lowveld, between Nelspruit and Witrivier, in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. Zanyika McLean and her husband were sleeping when when she heard a noise and saw a shadow of a man.

She woke up her husband and told him there is somebody in the house.

Mason McClean jumped up and tried to push the attackers, about five in total, out of the room, trying to protect his wife and young son when one of the attackers shot him twice.

Mason was shot twice from very close up, once in the stomach and then through his heart. He died before they reached the hospital.

The attackers then immediately fled on foot without taking anything. McLean’s wife and child were not injured.

A group of attackers also tried to break into several other houses in that area on the same night.

Police are investigating, but there have been no arrests.
