Johnson handed clear mandate to ‘fulfill Brexit’ in U.K. election

By Michael Coren. Published on Dec 13, 2019

"In brief, this is a clear mandate to fulfill Brexit, and fulfill it quickly, and take Britain out of Europe, and a rejection of the hard-left policies of Jeremy Corbyn. To a certain degree Boris Johnson was almost irrelevant, in that it was Brexit and Corbyn rather than the character and ability of the Conservative leader that decided all this."

No matter what alleged experts might claim, nobody anticipated the results of the UK election.

As late as Thursday afternoon there were predictions that the Labour Party could form a government with the support of the Scottish National Party and the Liberal Democrats. Or perhaps there would be another hung parliament. Instead, Labour suffered its fourth defeat in succession, was reduced to the lowest number of seats in living memory, and lost in working-class, blue-collar ridings that have been Labour strongholds for generations. The Conservatives under Boris Johnson have a huge majority and have been given five years of government.

In brief, this is a clear mandate to fulfil Brexit, and fulfil it quickly, and take Britain out of Europe, and a rejection of the hard-left policies of Jeremy Corbyn. To a certain degree Boris Johnson was almost irrelevant, in that it was Brexit and Corbyn rather than the character and ability of the Conservative leader that decided all this.

On Brexit, the exhaustion is almost palpable. I returned from Britain a few days ago, after spending two weeks speaking with MPs, senior media figures, church leaders, and academics, and the only issue where I found consensus was the draining yet dominant status of Brexit. Whatever people thought of it — and most of those I met were opposed — they wanted it resolved. Johnson campaigned on “Let’s get it done”, while Corbyn oozed ambivalence and uncertainty.

But the problems with the Labour leader went far, far deeper than that. As Nick Cohen, one of the most perceptive and prolific commentators on British politics wrote in The Spectator, “Jeremy Corbyn’s opposition did not win a majority and could never win a majority because millions could not vote for the incompetent and indecent Jeremy Corbyn. It’s that simple.”

I spent the first 28 years of my life in Britain, and the perennial backbencher Corbyn was regarded as a fringe political figure, supporting extreme and even violent revolutionary organizations in Ireland, the Middle East and elsewhere. The idea of him being a minister, let alone party leader, was preposterous. Yet it happened, and the doors for party membership were suddenly opened to former members of hard left and Marxist groups.

The party moved left, but also took on a new harshness and intolerance, especially around the subject of Israel/Palestine, leading to often justified accusations of anti-Semitism. The culprits may have been relatively few, but they were dealt with — when they were addressed at all — far too slowly and reluctantly by Corbyn and his staff. This, a lack of obvious leadership qualities, and profound internal divisions scratched away at the party base.

Even so, Jeremy Corbyn seemed to have an apparent popularity, one that we now know was extremely deceptive, revealing the deeply misleading nature of social media. Young people, activists, and celebrities, told us on Twitter and its siblings that the tide was red with socialism and that Comrade Corbyn was the nation’s hope. The actual result could not have been more different.

Of the smaller parties, the Liberal Democrats remain a rump, the Greens were unable to advance beyond a single seat, and the Democratic Unionists, the largest party of Northern Ireland’s Protestant community, has lost the power it possessed when propping up a minority Conservative government. The Scottish nationalists, the SNP, did well in a country that is far more self-consciously European than its southern neighbour. The party will push for another referendum, and oppose Brexit, but with a comfortable Tory majority there is a limit to what it can achieve.

The Conservatives themselves are a different party now, returning to the tone and composition of what it was under Margaret Thatcher more than 25 years ago. It’s more right wing, more northern, more anti-European, than it was; as such, it could also reshape the political climate in Britain for a generation to come. Labour has to reinvent itself, shed its recent reputation, and try to expunge the “Corbynista” image. Whether it can, even if it wants to, will become clear in the coming months.

The country’s politics will be dominated by Brexit, and as such it has to face the potentially worrying challenges of Northern Ireland’s border with the Irish Republic, a member of the European Union. But there are also the enormous problems caused by the government’s austerity policy, the decline of the National Health Service, and the increasing gulf between rich and poor.
2020 will likely be the most momentous for Britain’s place in the world and its self-perception since the decline of empire and even the Second World War. Whether Boris Johnson is the best person to be Prime Minister at such a time is open to question, but it doesn’t matter as the electorate has spoken. Now, as they say, it all begins.

Escape from Egypt - Cocaine Santa sweater is now a best-seller on Amazon

Cocaine Santa sweater is now a best-seller on Amazon

By Nadine DeNinno,  New York Post,  December 11,  2019

NY Post Photo Composite

Walmart may have pulled the Cocaine Santa sweater, but on Amazon, the controversial cardigan has been labeled a bestseller.

The now infamous “Let It Snow” pullover, which depicts a hopped up Santa Claus with lines of white powder resembling cocaine on a table, is sold by a third-party seller on Amazon for $31.99, but the retailer lists it as a “#1 Best Seller in Women’s Novelty Sweatshirts.”
Best of all, the Amazon listing for the sweater, sold as “Cocaine Santa let it snow christmas sweater Sweatshirt,” is described as “Perfect for cozy days with your family!” in the description on the site.
As Business Insider points out, Amazon is not the official seller for the Cocaine Santa sweater, but the item “ships from and [is] sold by Amazon.com.”
The Cocaine Santa sweater even has a five-star rating from very satisfied Amazon customers.
“It’s the funniest, most amazing xmas sweater in the universe. Buy one,” wrote a customer named Matt.

Another customer named Larry loved the purchase at first for “a formal Christmas party,” but a fellow attendee was less than enthusiastic.

“As formal Xmas bashes are often somewhat stolid affairs, I figured this one would lighten the mood nicely and make for a yuletide conversation piece,” he wrote. “One gentleman, who is a recovering addict (much respect!) proceeded to give me a 30 minute lecture on the evils of drugs. He described, in agonizing detail, his many unfortunate experiences with the substance, each story ending worse than the last.”
He continued: “At the end of his rant, he had been reduced to a quaking, reddish pile of inconsolable goo, prompting me to make haste toward the exit, thus ending my attendance at the soiree prematurely.”
There are also plenty of other cocaine-themed Christmas sweaters for sale on Amazon, with hundreds of results for “cocaine santa” ranging in price and design.
Walmart came under fire earlier this week for selling the sweater on its Canadian website. It has since removed the item and issued an apology.
“These sweaters, sold by a third-party seller on Walmart.ca, do not represent Walmart’s values and have no place on our website,” a spokesperson told Global News Canada. “We have removed these products from our marketplace. We apologize for any unintended offense this may have caused.”

Escape from Eygpt- Thousands of 'penis fish' exposed on California beach

DECEMBER 14, 2019, No author takes credit

A person holds a fat innkeeper worm in Bodega Beach, California in a picture released by iNaturalist

Thousands of marine worms dubbed "penis fish" for their shape and color appeared this week on a California beach after a strong winter storm exposed them.

The creatures—more commonly known as fat innkeeper worms—covered Drakes Beach, 50 miles north of San Francisco.

Despite their eye-catching appearance, the pulsating worms which reach around 10 inches are adept at digging U-shaped burrows on beaches and marshes, using the tunnels to catch food.

Found almost exclusively in California, they are themselves considered a culinary delicacy in South Korea, with reputed aphrodisiac effects.

"Yes, the physical design of the fat innkeeper worm has some explaining to do," wrote biologist Ivan Parr. "But the fat innkeeper is perfectly shaped for a life spent underground."

Parr explained in a column on the Bay Nature website this week that fossil evidence of the animals dates back at least 300 million years.

"They are preyed on by otters, flounders, sharks, rays, gulls, and humans," the latter of whom eat them as sashimi, fried or grilled.

In this case the worms were caught out by heavy rain.

"We're seeing the risk of building your home out of sand," noted Parr.

"Strong storms... are perfectly capable of laying siege to the intertidal zone, breaking apart the sediments, and leaving their contents stranded on shore.

The beach is named after Francis Drake, who is believed to have landed here in 1579 during his circumnavigation of the globe.

Recipes - Gingerbread White Chocolate Chip Blondies

Gingerbread White Chocolate Chip Blondies

By Lisa Starr,  Meatland, https://www.meatland.net/recipes

Gingerbread White Chocolate Chip Blondies

Ingredients

2 3/4 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon salt (Maldon takes first prize)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
Pinch ground cloves/nutmeg (optional)
200 grams butter/margarine
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 large eggs plus 1 yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup silan ( date syrup )  or golden syrup
1 cup white chocolate chips plus extra to garnish
Macadamias and cranberries (optional)

Directions

1: Beat the butter/margarine and sugars till light and creamy, then beat in the eggs and extra yolk, one at a time.
2: Add the vanilla, silan and spices, then whisk the flour, salt and bicarbonate of soda together, add to the mix and blend till combined, then stir in chocolate chips.
3: Spray 2 regular sized foil pans - 30 cm x 25 cm - with oil then carefully spread mixture between the tins using a greased spoon or spatula*
4: Scatter over extra chocolate chips and bake at 180 C for 25 minutes till edges are browned. Cut into approximately 40 blondies.

COOK'S NOTES: These blondies are thinner than regular brownies which I think is better as they aren't as rich and go further. You can, however, put all the mixture into a single, large baking pan to make thicker and more fudgy brownies. Cranberries, macadamias and white chocolate always pair perfectly. Add your nuts and fruit (if using) when stirring in the chocolate chips. The batter can be a little tricky to spread so greasing your spoon or spatula helps. It will spread further as it bakes. Blondies taste just delicious made with margarine too - you can't taste the difference - and the white chocolate chips are parve. Delicious served with vanilla ice-cream and salted caramel sauce. Assemble your own blondie ice-cream sandwich as they're thin enough to do so. Enjoy a multitude of serving opportunities!

Escape from New York: Beautiful young lady murdered by "Teens"

New York City police have arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Barnard College student, according to three law enforcement sources.
The sources told ABC News that the juvenile suspect is facing charges of murder, robbery and weapons possession after he allegedly made statements incriminating himself in Wednesday's killing of Tessa Rane Majors, an 18-year-old freshman at the private women's liberal arts college, which sits just outside Morningside Park in Upper Manhattan, alongside Columbia University.
While he is not the killer of Majors, according to a testimony from the arresting officer, he did allegedly pick up the knife and give it to another teen.
The boy, who is expected to be charged as a minor, implicated two others in his statement to detectives, according to the sources. Another 14-year-old is being interviewed by officials, the sources said.
Majors was walking through Morningside Park near campus on Wednesday evening when she was accosted by an unknown number of people and stabbed multiple times during a struggle, police said. Majors managed to get herself out of the park and onto a nearby street, where she was spotted by a school public safety officer who called 911, police said. She died soon after at a local hospital, according to the New York City Police Department.

Majors' family said they are "devastated by the senseless loss of our beautiful and talented Tess."
"We are thankful for the incredible outpouring of love and support we have received from across the country," the family told ABC News in a statement Friday.
Majors, a native of Charlottesville, Virginia, was the daughter of Inman Majors, a novelist and English professor at James Madison University, and the grandniece of famed football coach Johnny Majors, according to a family spokesperson.
Majors was finishing up her first year at Barnard College, with final exams set to begin Friday. The school's president, Sian Leah Beilock, said that the teen was wounded "during an armed robbery" that occurred off campus in the park.
"This is an unthinkable tragedy that has shaken us to our core," Beilock said in a statement.

The New York City Police Department's chief of detectives, Rodney Harrison, told reporters that a knife was recovered from the crime scene but it's unclear whether the weapon was used in the stabbing.
Statements the juvenile suspect made to police matched what was seen on grainy surveillance video from Morningside Park, sources said.
The juvenile suspect also said the three fled with Majors' bag, which has not yet been recovered, according to the sources.
The teenager's aunt has maintained that he is innocent, according to sources. The boy is expected to be charged as a juvenile and the case will be handled in family court.
Police are increasing patrols near the park and the neighboring college campuses in the wake of Majors' death, according to Harrison.

Hundreds of people gathered at Barnard College to mourn Majors at a vigil Thursday night. Students, faculty and other community members placed flowers, candles and notes at a makeshift memorial on campus.
“The idea that a college freshman at Barnard was murdered in cold blood is absolutely, not only painful to me as a parent, it’s terrifying to think that that could happen anywhere,” New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a press conference Thursday. “It’s an unacceptable reality.”

Berlin Crime: Muslim street gangs hang lady German judge from a tree

Germany vs. Muslim Criminal Clans

Welcome to the tearing apart of German social fabric.

It’s a story for which police have no solution.
Since the beginning of the year until last October there have been 237 police actions against mostly Muslim Arab and Kurdish criminal clans in Berlin alone. In the last one, 400 federal policemen searched clan members’ residences and business premises.
Clan criminality involves itself in Shisha-Bars, gambling offices and amusement arcades. But their more illegal activities concern protection money, bodily injury, extortion, drug dealing, money-laundering, control of the red-light scene, making false documents, murder and contract murders.
A senior state prosecutor stated that there are 20 to 25 clans in Berlin of whom seven to eight are criminal. All areas of Berlin are affected as well as all German states. Each clan also has hundreds of members with most living from welfare.
“Their male members play a considerable roll in drug dealing and red-light criminality,” stated a state prosecutor. “However, there are also family members who are quiet that support the criminal structure.
Besides their usual areas of illegal activity, clans commit sometimes spectacular crimes. One was the theft of a 100 kg gold coin from a museum. Another was the breaking into of 100 safety deposit boxes.
After these crimes, it came up that a brother, who lived on welfare, of one of the criminals bought several condominiums. This caused police to begin “an intensive investigation.”
The police are helped by a new law introduced in Germany in July, 2017. According to this law, the clans must prove they acquired property and wealth legally instead of the other way around. The police can now seize property believed to have been illegally obtained. Many properties have since been seized by the state. In Italy, this has proven to be the most effective method to fight the mafia. But clan profits are also invested abroad.
Last March, the cities of Ludwigshafen and Mannheim also experienced large raids by about 600 police, tax and customs officials against Muslim criminal clans at 70 different places. There were also raids in the states of Hesse, Baden-Wurttemburg and Rhineland-Westphalia. These criminal clans, like many others in Germany, are suspected of having criminal connections around Germany, in other European countries and internationally. But the German newspaper Die Welt states that little is known about their international connections.
In the state of North Rhineland-Westphalia alone, police believe there are 108 criminal clans, who committed 14,225 crimes the last three years. Among them are 6,449 criminally suspect persons of whom 300 are responsible for about a third of the crimes. Every fifth suspect is also a woman, according to Die Welt.  In the smaller North German city of Bremen live about 2,500 clan members who commit 900 crimes per year, about 3 per day.
The clans stem mostly from Lebanon and their “core”members came to Germany about 30-40 years ago during the civil war there. They smuggle boys, called “little bullet boys,” in from their “expanded” clans in Lebanon, who must sell 10,000 Euros in heroin to cover the cost of their smuggling. The boys are 12 to 16 years old and their parents go along with it because they send money home.
“Because they are so young, they don’t go to jail. That is their value. If they are convicted, there are enough reinforcements,” says writer Yassin Musharbash. “For the string-pullers, it is almost risk free – and the profits are tremendous.”
The greatest advantage the clans have and “their most important capital” is their sticking together. That is “the knowledge that one can, in no matter what life situation, rely on one another.” Clan members never testify against one another, states one report. They would rather incriminate themselves.
“They know what one can do with this. Breaking the law is easier and the fights against rivals more effective when one can count on one another,” states German writer Werner von Berber.
According to Die Welt, the clan problem “has grown enormously the last ten years.” One of the reasons is the high clan birth rate. Each woman has about eight children, some 10 to 15, in some cases 19.
“Before the mother has her last child, she is already a grandmother,” states a story in North German Radio. “For this reason, clans grow at breath-taking speed.”
In her book ‘The End of Patience,’ former youth court judge Kirsten Heisig states that these clans are also very dangerous.
“When the drug or other illegal business is disturbed by another clan from another ethnic background, then the problem is solved by killing, or at least trying to,” Hiesig wrote. One story states the young men of these clans “again and again” have fought one another.
Even when one wants to remove an abused child from a clan home there is danger.
‘One cannot take by force a child from an Arab clan,” Heisig states. “The families will shoot those who try.”
Sending these families back to their country of origin is also a “dead issue,” according to Heisig. She states there are already second and third generation members in Germany.
Heisig was found hanging from a tree in a Berlin forest. The police ruled her death a suicide but her colleagues believe Muslim criminal clans may have been responsible because she was giving harsh sentences to their young members. Several judges and prosecutors in Germany live under police protection, fearing clan revenge.
Clans have also tried infiltrating the police. One member of the police academy was accused of having contacts with a criminal clan while a student of Arab background doing an internship at a police station was caught photographing files of a Muslim clan she sent to an unknown recipient. The police union has warned of “targeted infiltration” of the public service.
“They attempt to keep certain family members from criminal acts in order to bring them into public service,” stated Die Welt.
The challenge to the state based on the rule of law by these Muslim criminal clans is a large and growing problem. No mafia organization, as is well known, respects the state based on laws.
Udo Ulfkotte wrote in his book ‘Beware! Civil War’ that the problem with the Muslim criminal clans, and with Muslim immigration in general, is that Islamic culture has simply different civilizational standards. This has caused, he writes, “a fall of values that leads to the state order not being accepted anymore.”
The president of the police union of Essen goes even further and states that the Muslim criminal clans see the German state only as “prey.”
Everyone realizes, however, that the clans represent a total failure at integration. Essen’s police union president says integration has “driven direct into a wall” here, saying many members don’t want to integrate. They live in their own parallel criminal societies and have little to do with German society.
“They destroy the trust in the legal state and undermine state structures…,” stated one politician.
Many Germans believe the apparent powerlessness of the state against these Muslim criminal clans is “shameful.”
“What kind of a state, based on law, is that where such families can do what they want,’ posted a commentator to the North German Radio story.
Unfortunately, no solution appears in sight to this tearing apart of the German social fabric, although German politicians of all parties are very concerned about the problem.
“The police union has scarcely any hope for a solution of the problem,” states Die Welt.

Varney: Boris Johnson's win should send a message to AOC, Warren and Sanders

https://www.foxnews.com/media/varney-uk-election-boris-johnson-victory-crushing-socialists

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson dealt a "crushing defeat" to socialists and his victory in Britain's general election could have implications for the 2020 presidential election in the U.S., Fox Business host Stuart Varney said Friday.
"It was a crushing defeat for the socialists both over there and over here. ... It's a shot in the arm for the conservative movement worldwide,"  Varney told “Fox & Friends." "The collectivists were thoroughly beaten, they were routed. There's a message in America for AOC, Senator Warren and [Bernie] Sanders."
Varney believes President Trump will have a similarly large victory in 2020 if the Democrats continue to move toward socialism.

Johnson vowed on Friday morning to “get Brexit done” by Jan. 31, 2020 with “no ifs, no buts, no maybes” following his Conservative Party’s landslide victory in the country’s general election.
A sudden burst in London-listed companies brought European markets to record peaks early Friday, Reuters reported, as investors celebrated the probable end of more than three-and-a-half years of political turmoil in Britain once the United Kingdom settles on a deal to leave the European Union.
“This election means that getting Brexit done is now the irrefutable, irresistible, unarguable decision of the British people. With this election, I think we put an end to all those miserable threats of a second referendum,” Johnson told supporters.
Varney said the win “paves the way for the Brits to get out of socialist Europe, and it paves the way for a really good trade deal with Trump for the United States."

Johnson also promised that his Conservative Party’s top priority is to massively increase investments in the National Health Service and “make this country the cleanest, greenest on Earth with our far-reaching environmental program.”
“You voted to be carbon neutral by 2015 and you also voted to be Corbyn neutral by Christmas and we’ll do that, too,” he said, referring to socialist Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, who announced his intention to step down after his party's defeat in the election.
