US Politics: Joe Biden’s made-up stories and manner raise serious questions about his mental health

Joe Biden’s made-up stories and manner raise serious questions about his mental health

Once, toward the end of her life, when she was not in good health, I woke my mother up from a nap, and, unusually for her, she snapped fully awake immediately. Over the next several minutes, she talked at length about the strict Catholic schools she had attended as a girl, remembering how mean the nuns had been and how afraid she had been of them. Her memories were vivid, and I was surprised that she had never shared them with me before.

The reason she hadn’t shared them with me, of course, is because none of it had ever happened. She was raised in a Methodist family in a company town in the Texas Panhandle and had never set foot in a Catholic school a day in her life — she probably would have had to drive two hours just to find one. I’d be surprised if she’d even known any Catholics back then. Her mind had, for whatever reason, played a trick on her. She didn’t suffer from dementia in any obvious way, and she never had another episode like that, as far as I am aware, for the rest of her life. When we get old, we break down, and strange things sometimes happen.

A thing about my mother, though: She did not possess a single nuclear weapon.

President Biden is having a series of worrisome episodes that seem to be a mix of his trademark plagiarism (adopting episodes from other public figures’ lives as his own in addition to appropriating their words) and what we sometimes euphemistically call a “senior moment.”

Recently, President Biden told a truck driver: “I used to drive a tractor-trailer.” This wasn’t the first time he had made the claim. But the White House has since conceded that it is a fabrication; asked for proof of Biden’s truck-driving career, aides pointed to a newspaper article showing Biden riding in a truck — once — as part of a publicity stunt. He keeps telling this story, and it keeps being untrue.

President Joe Biden
President Joe Biden once boasted about being a truck-driver. Tasos Katopodis/UPI/Shutterstock

But that’s par for the course for Biden, who infamously slandered an innocent man in the matter of the death of his first wife and daughter, claiming that the man had been a drunken driver. He wasn’t, there was no suggestion that he was, and police reports at the time suggested that it was probably Mrs. Biden who had been at fault in the accident. Yet Biden spent years alleging that the man “drank his lunch” before causing the accident.

Biden also has a rich fantasy life, which is not limited to his mythical truck-driving days. There is cloak-and-dagger stuff, too. On Wednesday, he told an audience that during the Six-Day War, he had acted as a liaison between Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir and the Egyptian government. The Six-Day War occurred in 1967, when Levi Eshkol was the prime minister of Israel and Biden was plagiarizing his way toward finishing No. 76 of 85 in law school. Nobody had ever heard of such a thing as a Joe Biden back then. (And nobody was asking for one.) He was years away from beginning his Senate career. This is another fantasy, one that Biden keeps repeating. Is it an ordinary lie, or is it a delusion?

President Joe Biden claimed his first job offer was from the Boise Cascade Company in Idaho.

(Biden did later meet Golda Meir. The Israelis were not impressed with the young senator, and certainly were not asking him to be their back channel to Egypt.)

A certain kind of Republican takes a lurid and celebratory view of Biden’s mental fugues. But you do not have to be a bitter partisan to be concerned about the fact that the president of the United States of America has become a sort of Walter Mitty, so deep into his fantasies that he muses in public about events that — let’s go ahead and emphasize this once more — never happened.

To broach the subject of the president’s competence in a formal way is a serious thing, one that Republicans probably cannot do effectively on their own. (Imagine the hilarious spectacle of Marjorie Taylor Greene arguing that somebody else is mentally unfit for office.) But it is difficult to imagine a single Democrat, much less a meaningful group of them, stepping up on this.

President Joe Biden
Democrats must start calling out President Joe Biden’s mental instability like they did to former President Donald Trump. REUTERS/Kevin Lamarque

So we must rely either on Republican credibility or on Democratic political courage — i.e., we are hosed.

Because of Biden’s long history of habitual dishonesty, it is difficult to tell how much of this is Biden being Biden and how much of it is Biden no longer quite being Biden — how much is his longstanding and familiar moral disability and how much is, as it may be, late-life mental disability.

We need an independent medical assessment of the president’s mental health. That is a sobering fact to face, but face it we must. And right now, we need a Democrat who will say so in public.

USA Crime: Nationwide Network of Soros Financed DAs Facilitate Crime

George Soros' network of woke DA's he has bankrolled in cities across the US: How the Billionaire Democrat megadonor gave Chicago's Kim Foxx $2M and Philly's DA - where murder has doubled - got $1.7M

  • Soros donated $2million to a PAC that supported the reelection campaign of Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx
  • Cook County's murder rate is the highest  it has been since 1994
  • He also donated to a PACs that prop up Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón and Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner
  • Soros is most known for donating to Democratic presidents Clinton and Obama
  • The Hungarian billionaire spent $3m on seven local DA races in 2016
  • In 2020, he pumped $28million into Democratic elections across the US

Billionaire donor George Soros, who has been quietly pumping millions into the campaigns of Democratic District Attorneys across the country

Billionaire Democrat donor George Soros has bankrolled District Attorneys in America's most crime ravaged cities, where criminals are being allowed to walk out of jail on low cash bonds or aren't even being charged.

Soros, the most prolific Democratic donor, is most known for giving to Presidents Clinton and Obama but he has also been pumping money into a far-left effort to overhaul the criminal justice system by giving millions to a network of woke prosecutors in Democratic races.

Among them is Kim Foxx, the State's Attorney for Cook County, Chicago, where murder is at its highest in nearly 30 years.

In 2020, Soros donated $2million to a PAC that backed Foxx in her re-election campaign. She won the race and has since offered deferred prosecutions and softball deals to criminals.

In 2021, there were more murders in Chicago than in any other year since 1994.

There have been more than 1,000 murders in Cook County, Foxx's district, this year.

Soros bolstered her re-election campaign by donating to the Illinois Justice and Public Safety PAC.

Attorney Buta Biberaj is refusing to recuse herself from the case to remove School Board Chair Brenda Sheridan, despite what district parents say is an apparent conflict of interest.

Fight for Schools, the parent organization that filed to remove Sheridan, has now also filed a petition to remove Biberaj - who received a $861,039 contribution from the George Soros-funded Justice and Public Safety PAC during her 2019 election - from the case.

Ian Prior, executive director of the group, claimed Biberaj was 'very involved in two of the very serious incidents' that were catalysts for the push for Sheridan's recall.

He said Loudoun County residents need to know the case will be handled fairly and that Biberaj's involvement makes that nearly impossible.

'It is necessary to have faith that the prosecutor in this removal proceeding has no actual or perceived conflicts, that she will go where the evidence takes her, and litigate this case with appropriate prosecutorial zeal,' Prior told Fox News.

'In this case, Commonwealth Attorney Biberaj was very involved in two of the very serious incidents that gave rise to the recall. There is simply no way that the people of Loudoun County can be confident in a fair process for the removal of Brenda Sheridan unless Ms. Biberaj either recuses herself, or is disqualified based on her conflicts of interest, and an independent prosecutor is appointed by the Court.'

The PAC spent over $500,000 on materials to damage one of her challengers. It's a pattern that can be seen in other parts of the country.

He has also donated to PACs that support Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón, who is being widely condemned for not cracking down on shoplifters and violent criminals.

Soros has also donated to the campaign of Philadelphia District Attorney Larry  Krasner.

He donated $1.7million to Krasner's campaign, according to The New York Post.

Soros also donated to Super PACS that prop up Democratic prosecutors and politicians across Republican states.

Republican pundits say he has blood on his hands now for the deaths of innocent people like those killed at the Waukesha Christmas Parade by Darrell Brooks, a career criminal who had been bonded out of jail days earlier for other crimes.

In 2016, Soros pumped $3million into seven local district-attorney campaigns including races in Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Texas.

He boasts of sending fewer people to jail, represented BLM and Occupy Philadelphia protesters and was funded by George Soros: Philadelphia’s woke DA Larry Krasner is presiding over a record crime spike

Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner is pictured arriving at a polling site on Election Day, November 2, 2021

Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner is pictured arriving at a polling site on Election Day, November 2, 2021

Larry Krasner, a 60-year-old longtime civil rights and defense attorney who sued the Philadelphia Police Department 75 times, won election in 2017 against a crowded field by billing himself as the outsider candidate capable of making radical change.

Krasner's campaign benefitted from the largesse of controversial Hungarian-born billionaire George Soros, who poured an eye-popping $1,7million into the race to support the Democratic candidate's criminal justice reform agenda.

Under Krasner, the future years of incarceration have been cut by half, and the length of parole in probation supervision have been slashed by nearly two-thirds compared to the previous DA.

Krasner, who previously defended Black Lives Matter and Occupy Philadelphia protesters as a lawyer, has clashed with the city's top cops over his  reluctance to prosecute non-violent gun and drug possession crimes, despite a surge in gun violence and rising homicide rates in the City of Brotherly Love.

As of November 21, 2021, there have been 491 homicide victims, a 14 per cent increase from last year's number of 436, and 283 in 2019.

The Philadelphia Police Department and Krasner have been at loggerheads over a steep drop in convictions related to gun offenses.

This year, police in Philadelphia have made a record number of arrests for illegal gun possession, but the suspects' chances of getting convicted have dropped from 63 per cent in 2017 down to 49 per cent in  2021, according to an analysis by the Philadelphia Inquirer published in March.

Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw was previously quoted as saying that Philadelphia’s criminal justice system has become a 'revolving door' for repeat gun offenders since Krasner was sworn into office in January 2018.

Krasner has blamed the decrease on police submitting weaker evidence in cases, or on witnesses failing to show up in court to testify.

The progressive Democrat DA has contended that his main focus is on convicting people who use guns to kill or hurt others, not those who are caught being in possession of the weapons.

Krasner's office has argued that there is little evidence that suspects accused of being in possession of guns are responsible for the uptick in gun violence.

Compared to the previous DA term, Krasner's has imposed 24,000 fewer years of incarceration and 102,000 fewer years of supervised probation or parole since 2018.

In addition, under Krasner there have been 23 exonerations of offenders serving sentences for which he says a review found insufficient evidence.

The progressive Democrat DA has contended that his main focus is on convicting people who use guns to kill or hurt others, not those who are caught being in possession of the weapons.

Krasner argued that the city should be most concerned with structural problems, such as underfunded schools and high poverty rates.

'Yes, enforcement is a small part of the story,' he told the Inquirer earlier this year. 'The big part of the story is not that. The big part of the story is this city’s chronic failure to invest in prevention that the community is crying out for. That is where we have to go.'

Krasner's office has argued that there is little evidence that suspects accused of being in possession of guns are responsible for the uptick in gun violence, considering that the recent surge in gun-related arrests has not resulted in a significant decrease in shootings.

Police Commissioner Outlaw said in September that she and Krasner 'just don’t agree' on whether prioritizing illegal gun and drug possession prosecutions would reduce violent crime in the city.

'Fundamentally, there are very key disconnects there, as far as which crimes we prioritize, and who believes what are the main drivers of the violent crime that we’re seeing,' Outlaw said.

In late March, the Democratic City Committee voted not to endorse Krasner for May’s primary election, but he easily trounced primary challenger Carlos Vega and then won reelection on November 2.

Aariel Maynor, 29, faces charges in Jaqueline Avant's murder early on Wednesday after shooting himself in the foot

The career criminal suspected of killing Jaqueline Avant in a Beverly Hills home invasion was arrested just an hour after the murder, when he shot himself in the foot during a separate burglary in Hollywood Hills, police have revealed.

Aariel Maynor, 29, faces charges in Avant's murder early on Wednesday after an 'astute watch commander' in Hollywood connected the dots between the two home invasions, LAPD Deputy Chief Blake Chow said.

Maynor has been in custody since early Wednesday but was only announced as the murder suspect on Thursday afternoon.

Police say evidence suggests that Maynard shot himself with same AR-15 rifle used in the murder of Avant, the wife of legendary music executive Clarence Avant, and that the two crimes are further tied together by surveillance footage of his vehicle.

The murder suspect has an extensive criminal history, including convictions for assault, robbery and grand theft.

In September, Maynor was released on parole after serving a four-year prison sentence for second-degree robbery with enhancements for a prior felony. He remains in LAPD custody at a Los Angeles hospital

New footage shows Maynor handcuffed to wheelchair with his bloody foot on display as he is being taken into custody by police.

Police say Maynor is currently their only suspect and his motive for in the murder remains under investigation.

Maynor is set to be booked once he is medically cleared, police said.

Officers first responder to the Avant home invasion in the upscale Trousdale Estates section of Beverly Hills after a 911 call at 2.23am on Wednesday. She was found gravely injured and rushed to a hospital where she died.

A review of area surveillance footage showed what is believed to be the suspect's vehicle speeding east out of Beverly Hills, investigators say.

At around 3.30am, officers responded to a second report of a shooting in the 6000 block of Graciosa Drive in the Hollywood Hills, about seven miles east of the Beverly Hills murder.

In Hollywood Hills, cops discovered Maynor in the backyard of a home, suffering from a gunshot wound to his foot. He had apparently accidentally shot himself in the foot during an attempted burglary, police said.

'We had an astute watch commander in Hollywood that started to put two and two together and reached out to Beverly Hills,' Deputy Chief Chow said during a Thursday press conference.

Maynor was sentenced to a five-year prison term in November 2013 for second-degree robbery and inflicting great bodily injury, a California Department of Corrections spokesperson said.

He served a second four-year term for second-degree robbery with enhancements for a prior felony and was released on parole on September 1, 2021.

According to his Facebook page, Maynor started a new job as an electrician in October. His profile claims that he studied at Hartnell College in Salinas.

The 81-year-old philanthropist Jaqueline Avant, whose daughter Nicole is married to Ted Sarandos, Netflix co-CEO and chief content officer, was shot dead early Wednesday morning in her $7 million Beverly Hills mansion despite a security guard being on the property.

Police said Clarence and a security guard were home at the time of the attack but not harmed.

Neighbors of the Avants were so worried by the recent rise in burglaries in the neighborhood that they hired armed guards a week before the music executive's wife was killed.

Residents of Trousdale Estate in Beverly Hills told TMZ that just last week, several neighbors got together and hired a private security firm in response to a recent spike in home and car burglaries in the area.

The neighbors were so afraid, they say they pooled money and hired a security company, but they had not started patrols yet before Wednesday's tragic shooting.

Beverly Hills police were called to the home around 2:30 am Wednesday after a 911 caller said someone had been shot and killed. Officers arriving at the scene discovered one victim, Avant's wife of 54 years, Jacqueline, suffering from a gunshot wound. She succumbed to her wounds later that day

On Wednesday, Clarence Avant's wife of 54 years, Jacqueline Avant, died of a gunshot wound in what appears to have been a home invasion, although police have still declined to say how many suspects were involved, if anyone witnessed the attack or whether this incident is connected to a recent string of burglaries targeting the wealthy in the Los Angeles area.

Jacqueline was transported to a local hospital but died later that morning. She was 81 years old.

Law enforcement sources told the LA Times that at least one burglar made it into the $7 million mansion before Jacqueline was killed, although it is unclear if that person was apprehended, and no description for a possible suspect has been issued.

Beverly Hills police were called to the home in Trousdale Estates around 2.30am Wednesday after a 911 caller said someone had been shot, according to Beverly Hills Stainbrook.

Officers arriving at the scene discovered one victim, Avant's wife of 54 years, Jacqueline Avant, suffering from a gunshot wound. Clarence Avant, 90, was in the home at the time but was not injured.

Following the brutal killing residents say they have individually hired armed guards for extra protection, TMZ reported.

Beverly Hills Police confirmed they would be increasing patrol in the area and the department has also hired a private security company to adequately cover the area.

Beverly Hills Police said they have not found any connection between Avant's shooting and the recent rise in looting in California.

Tributes are already pouring out for the noted philanthropist, including from Bill Clinton and Magic Johnson, and Tyler Perry is vowing to devote 'every available resource' to tracking down those responsible.

Jacqueline, who once modeled in the Ebony Fashion Fair, served as president of the Neighbors of Watts, a support group that focused on child care. She also served on the board of directors of the International Student Center at UCLA.

The couple's daughter, Nicole Avant, 53, is married to Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos. Nicole was also ambassador to the Bahamas, appointed by then-president Barack Obama in 2009.

The Motown fixture's life and legacy have been chronicled by Sarandos' streaming service in 2019, in a documentary titled The Black Godfather.

The Netflix-run production was produced by his daughter Nicole, and detailed how Avant oversaw impressive deals for black artists throughout his illustrious career, which spanned decades, through narrations from Barack Obama, Snoop Dogg, Bill Clinton, and more.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame describes Avant as 'cool, savvy, confident, and fearless – someone who makes the impossible possible. He's served a variety of roles during his illustrious career, including manager, label owner, concert organizer, event producer, political fundraiser, and mentor.'

It continues: 'Avant's career began in the 1950s when he served as the manager for Little Willie John and jazz organist Jimmy Smith. In late 1969, he launched Sussex Records, a label that soon achieved a Top Ten hit with Dennis Coffey's Scorpio. The most notable artist on Sussex was Bill Withers, who released his first three records for the label, featuring the hits Ain't No Sunshine, Lean on Me, and Use Me. In 1971, Avant launched Avant Garde Broadcasting, one of the first Black-owned radio stations in the country.'

In a statement to DailyMail.com, the victim's family said: 'The entire Avant and Sarandos families wish to thank everyone for their outpouring of love, support and heartfelt condolences for Jacqueline Avant.'

'Jacqueline was an amazing woman, wife, mother and philanthropist and a 55 year resident of Beverly Hills who has made an immeasurable positive impact on the arts community. She will be missed by her family, friends and all of the people she has helped throughout her amazing life,' said the grieving family.

Bill Clinton wrote in a tweet: 'Jackie Avant was a wonderful woman, a great partner to Clarence and mother to Alex and Nicole, an active citizen & a dear friend to Hillary and me for 30 years.'

'She inspired admiration, respect & affection in everyone who knew her. We are heartbroken. She will be deeply missed,' added Clinton.

Basketball icon Earvin 'Magic' Johnson wrote on Twitter that he and his wife were 'devastated' by the news of Avant's death, calling her 'one of our closest friends.'

'This is the saddest day in our lives,' he wrote.

Actress Viola Davis tweeted: 'So sorry for the Avant family. My heart goes out to you!!! OMG!!!! Where are we??!!! WHAT are we?!!'

Famed actor and director Tyler Perry vowed that 'every available resource will be used to find whoever is responsible for this awful nightmare.'

'This world can be so cruel and cold!! I have no idea what kind of sub-human could shoot an 81 year old woman, and in her own home,' tweeted Perry.

In a published statement, Los Angeles Sentinel owner and family friend Danny Bakewell Sr said that Clarence Avant was 'currently grieving but resting with his family.'

Photos of the crime scene show a broken sliding glass door on the rear of the home, with shards of glass strewn about the outdoor pool deck. It is unclear if the glass was broken by the gunshot, or during an altercation which culminated in Jacqueline's murder.

A security guard was stationed at the house, according to the outlet. He was reportedly shot but did not return fire at the attackers. Sources told TMZ, which first reported the murder, that Clarence was not injured.

Beverly Hills Police Chief Mark Stainbrook said: 'The motives in this case are still unknown, and we are investigating all possible motives. We will not speculate on anything that's out there, including if this was a robbery attempt or not'

A family source told TMZ that robbers fired shots as they entered the home and hit Avant's wife. The home is valued at an estimated $7 million. It's unclear if the suspect or suspects made off with any stolen goods.

Stainbrook had said Wednesday afternoon that the department is currently conducting an investigation into the incident, which they have determined is a homicide.

At least one suspect, the shooter, had gotten inside the Avants' home when he opened fire at Jacqueline, TMZ further reported, speaking to sources connected to the investigation. It's still unclear how many suspects were involved.

Police initially said the suspects were likely looking to rob the elderly couple, citing a broken glass door at the back of the property.

However, Chief Stainbrook later said: 'The motives in this case are still unknown, and we are investigating all possible motives.'

'We will not speculate on anything that's out there, including if this was a robbery attempt or not,' he added.
