Space News: Milky Way mystery uncovered? Black matter may be the source of the galaxy’s mysterious glow

Milky Way mystery uncovered? Black matter may be the source of the galaxy’s mysterious glow

New research suggests that dark matter may be the key to uncovering the mysteries of the Milky Way. The scientific team led by Dr. Moorits Muru has opened a new path for space studies worldwide.

Dark matter may be behind the Milky Way Galaxy's ethereal glow, according to a recent study.

The study was published in the peer-reviewed academic journal Physical Review Letters by Dr. Moorits Muru, along with Dr. Noam Libeskind and Dr. Stefan Gottlöber from the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam (AIP), in collaboration with Prof. Yehuda Hoffman of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Racah Institute of Physics, and Prof.  Joseph Silk of Oxford University.

Dr. Moorits Muru and his team decided to approach the subject of the galaxy's glow from a new angle, using an array of high-resolution simulations that model conditions in the Milky Way. The scientists reconstructed how the Milky Way might have formed, sparking new discussion among the scientific community.

Bright research on dark matter: Solving the mystery of the Galactic Center Excess

For years, scientists have known about the unexpected concentration of gamma rays at the Milky Way’s core, known as the "Galactic Center Excess." However, their origin had long been questioned. Early on, theorists proposed that dark matter particles might collide and annihilate, producing bursts of radiation in the process, but, as more data were gathered, the spatial pattern of the rays didn’t line up in the expected way with the predicted dark matter distributions.

With the most recent discovery of Dr. Muru and his team, the world now faces a different perspective on how to deal with the Milky Way. Their results reveal a more complex, nonspherical dark matter structure than previously assumed. This structure could reproduce the observed gamma-ray spread without requiring additional sources, such as rapidly spinning neutron stars called millisecond pulsars.

By adopting a new approach, the researchers reconstructed the Milky Way's formation, including its early mergers and turbulent youth. Their discoveries could reshape the distribution of dark matter at the galaxy's center.

“The Milky Way’s history of collisions and growth leaves clear fingerprints on how dark matter is arranged at its core. When we account for that, the gamma-ray signal looks a lot more like something dark matter could explain,” the team declared.

While the study doesn’t provide a definitive answer, it opens new directions for understanding both dark matter and our galaxy’s evolution.

“This study gives us a fresh way to interpret one of the most intriguing signals in the sky,” the team added. “Either we’ll confirm that dark matter leaves an observable trace — or we’ll learn something entirely new about the Milky Way itself.”

ChiComs Preparing to Launch Hordes of Robot Wolves to Attack Taiwan

China plots unleashing machinegun-toting 'robot wolves' onto Taiwanese beaches in drone-led invasion

China has been carrying out military drills using 'robot wolves' as fears grow that the communist nation is preparing to invade Taiwan

The People's Liberation Army said it is testing a new warfare tactic which involves using robots, which were first unveiled at an airshow last year.

Recent footage aired on state television showed the so-called 'robot wolves' being used in a practice drone-led assault on a beach.

The four-legged devices are being developed with the aim of replacing human soldiers to reduce combat casualties.

The robot wolves are able to clear barbed wire and other obstacles easily, allowing the PLA to use the devises in a similar way to 'drone swarms', which have become a crucial tactic in the Ukraine war and are used to overwhelm air defences.

According to Chinese media, the devices can also fire precise shots and work in rough terrains.

Weighing around 70kg, the robot wolves can also hit targets which are up to 100 metres away, state media reports.

The military exercise also featured a pack of kamikaze drones.

The development of China's new military warfare tactic widens fears that it is preparing to invade its neighbouring island state Taiwan

The military drills using robot wolves comes amid mounting fears that China is preparing to invade the island nation of Taiwan as Beijing appears to grow increasingly aggressive toward its neighbour in recent years.

Earlier this year, China deployed dozens of warships and planes to encircle Taiwan in menacing, large-scale war games.

Chilling satellite pictures also revealed what appear to be Beijing's 'invasion barges' - gargantuan platforms that connect to form a mobile pier that could enable thousands of soldiers and hundreds of vehicles to land on Taiwan's shores.

The multi-day military drills forced Taipei to respond by scrambling fighter jets and warships of their own to dissuade any overzealous members of the PLA from posing a serious threat.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP), headed by authoritarian President Xi Jinping, sees Taiwan as a renegade province to be brought back under Beijing's control, by force if necessary.

Taiwan's elected Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presides over a self-governing, democratic society and has sought close ties with the US, hoping its political, military and economic heft will keep Xi's expansionist tendencies at bay.

American deterrence, the reliance of China's export economy on the West and the cost of a military operation to seize Taiwan has led most analysts to suggest Beijing is more likely to use less direct means to pressure Taipei.

But politicians, military chiefs and industry leaders around the world can no longer afford to ignore the prospect of a full-scale invasion - a scenario which would shake the foundations of the world as we know it and could well trigger a Third World War.

China warns Japan of 'crushing' defeat, tells Chinese citizens to shun visits

BEIJING, Nov 14 (Reuters) - China on Friday warned Japan of a "crushing" military defeat if it uses force to intervene over Taiwan, and even cautioned Chinese citizens against visits to Japan, angered by its prime minister's remarks about the island, which Beijing claims.
Tokyo on Friday summoned Beijing's ambassador to Japan to protest against a top Chinese diplomat's online post about Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, continuing a tit-for-tat spat that has run for a week.
Takaichi sparked a diplomatic row with Beijing with comments in parliament last week that a Chinese attack on Taiwan could amount to a "survival-threatening situation" and trigger a military response from Tokyo.
Last Saturday, China's Consul General in Osaka, Xue Jian, shared a news article about Takaichi's remarks about Taiwan on X and commented "the dirty neck that sticks itself in must be cut off" in a now-deleted post.
The Japanese foreign ministry retaliated by summoning the Chinese ambassador to Japan for what it called "extremely inappropriate" statements made by Xue.
Some senior Japanese political figures have called for Xue's expulsion, but Tokyo has so far only asked Beijing to "take appropriate measures" without elaborating.
Chinese Defence Ministry spokesperson Jiang Bin said that Takaichi's words were extremely irresponsible and dangerous.
"Should the Japanese side fail to draw lessons from history and dare to take a risk, or even use force to interfere in the Taiwan question, it will only suffer a crushing defeat against the steel-willed People's Liberation Army and pay a heavy price," Jiang said in a statement.
On Thursday, the Chinese foreign ministry summoned Japan's ambassador to China to lodge a "strong protest" over Takaichi's remarks.
It was the first time in more than two years that Beijing has called in a Japanese ambassador. It last summoned the then-ambassador in August 2023 over Japan's decision to release wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the sea.
The ministry on Friday also expressed "serious concerns" about Japan's recent military and security moves, including ambiguity over its non-nuclear principles.
Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at a press conference that Japan's decision not to rule out acquiring nuclear submarines indicates a major "negative" policy shift.
Late on Friday the ministry asked Chinese citizens to avoid travelling to Japan in the near future, citing deteriorating ties over Takaichi's remarks and the "significant risks" its nationals would face there.

LINGERING GRIEVANCES

Chinese state media has weighed in with a series of vitriolic editorials and commentaries lambasting Takaichi, given lingering grievances about Japan's wartime past and China's extreme sensitivity over anything Taiwan-related, just two weeks after Chinese leader Xi Jinping met Takaichi in South Korea.
Takaichi's remarks were by no means an "isolated political rant," the Communist Party's People's Daily said earlier on Friday in a commentary.
Japan's right wing has been trying to loosen some of the constraints of the country's post-World War Two constitution and pursue the status of a military power, said the commentary published under the pen name "Zhong Sheng", meaning "Voice of China" and often used to give views on foreign policy.
"In recent years, Japan has been racing headlong down the path of military buildup," the paper added.
"From frequent visits to the Yasukuni Shrine, to denying the Nanjing Massacre, to vigorously hyping the 'China threat theory,' Takaichi's every step follows the old footprints of historical guilt, attempting to whitewash a history of aggression and revive militarism."
World War Two and the Japanese invasion of China which preceded it in 1931 remain a source of ongoing tension between Beijing and Tokyo.
Beijing claims democratically governed Taiwan as its own and has not ruled out using force to take control of the island. Taiwan's government rejects Beijing's claims and says only its people can decide the island's future.
Taiwan sits just over 110 km (68 miles) from Japanese territory and the waters around the island provide a vital sea route for trade that Tokyo depends on. Japan also hosts the largest contingent of U.S. military overseas.
Japanese broadcaster NTV reported on Friday the Chinese embassy in Tokyo had instructed its staff to avoid going out due to concerns about rising anti-China sentiment.
In a regular news conference, Japan's top government spokesperson Minoru Kihara reiterated the country's position on Taiwan, telling reporters that Tokyo hopes for a peaceful resolution of the issue through dialogue.

Prime Minister of Japan
One prominent Chinese commentator called Takaichi an “evil witch,” while a Chinese diplomat in Japan talked about cutting off her “dirty neck”.
“The dirty neck that sticks itself in must be cut off,” Xue Jian, the Chinese consul general in the Japanese city of Osaka, said.
The Japanese government has criticized Xue’s “highly inappropriate” remarks, which have been interpreted as a death threat against Takaichi.
Japan’s ruling party has since passed a resolution calling for the envoy to be declared persona non grata.

Conflicting Ethical Systems: An Argument Against the Peace Plan

We will never forgive, and we will never forget

Israel cannot turn a blind eye to the past.

There’s a joke that was popular when I was younger. Never ask a man his salary, a woman her age, or a German what his grandparents were doing in World War II. It’s something I’m continually reminded of since the ceasefire was announced.

Since it went into effect, President Trump has been posting an ever-growing number of celebratory tweets, touting this as the start of peace in the Middle East. According to Trump all wars are a thing of the past, and the various Arab countries are ready to put the past behind them and usher in a new era of brotherhood and unity. All of course under his stern but loving guidance.

His plan is based on the desire for a Middle East that’s finally stable, as well as on the belief that both parties are willing to cooperate. It’s also based on the belief that both sides have a desire for a positive future and that they all cherish the idea of rights and dignity for all.

It’s based on a lot of things. But what it’s not based on is reality. The Palestinian Arabs have no desire for any of those things, nor will they ever. Expecting them to change their fundamental nature and their entire worldview overnight is about as realistic as hoping that they come to the peace summit riding on unicorns.

The Palestinian Arabs have never wanted peace. These are the people who, after being given their own rule, immediately voted in a genocidal terror organization. Our alleged new friends are the same folk who shut their eyes for years as Hamas amassed weapons, dug tunnels and built a terror network. Egypt, who signed a peace treaty with Israel, allowed unlimited arms smuggling into Gaza. Polls conducted before the war showed that Palestinian Arab citizens overwhelmingly supported Hamas and their actions.

When October 7th happened, these potential partners in peace were the ones celebrating Hamas’s horrors in the streets, passing out candy like it was a holiday. Moreover, they not only celebrated the October 7th atrocities, they also actively participated in them. Not only Hamas Nukhbas but also so-called “civilian” Gazans stormed into Israel and helped carry out the worst pogrom in modern history.

And in the months that followed, it became increasingly clear the role that Palestinian Arab citizenry played in the hostage situation. Report after report confirmed that many of the hostages were being held not by Hamas, but by the ordinary citizens of Gaza. Doctors, teachers, aid workers, all these normal-sounding professions were discovered to be keeping innocent Jews captive and suffering in their homes. When a hostage managed to escape, not a single Gaza citizen came to his aid.

After she was released, former hostage Mia Schem gave an interview describing her experiences in Gaza. Her report was chilling. “They’d enter the room (children of the family) from time to time to look at me as if I was an animal. There are no innocent civilians there.”

Even in Nazi Germany, there were some brave Germans who heroically defied the Nazis and saved Jews. Not a single Gazan saved a Jewish hostage. Not a single one.

Even if Hamas has agreed to a ceasefire, that doesn’t mean they want peace. It’s to give themselves time to rearm and plan another horrendous attack. In their belief system, surrender is not an option.

In their culture, there exist two dangerous ideas. The first is the hudna, wherein Muslims are allowed to fake an offer for peace in order to gain time to regroup and rearm for another attack. Then there is taqiyya, the principle that Muslims may lie and conceal their true plans from non-Muslims. Understanding these principles, it’s clear that the ceasefire is nothing more than a way for the badly battered Palestinian Arabs to plan their next deadly attack.

Yet peace activists insist that this was all in the past. That the way forward is one filled with new hopes and new beginnings. Once again, it’s a nice dream. But it’s a dream that the facts don’t bear out.

In the last two years, a growing number of Palestinian Arabs reported that their backing for Hamas has increased rather than decreased. A recent survey conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research indicates a significant increase in backing for Hamas within Palestinian Arab society.

Approximately 60 percent of those surveyed expressed satisfaction with Hamas's performance, showing more support in Judea and Samaria compared to Gaza. In an imagined presidential contest between Khalid Mashaal of Hamas and Mahmoud Abbas, Mashaal would emerge victorious by a significant margin, 63 percent to 27 percent.

Approximately 53 percent stated that Hamas was justified in initiating the attack on October 7.

And if Hamas did disappear tomorrow, it would change little. The Palestinian Arabs will simply elect a different jihadist group to represent them. As long as the Palestinian Arabs rule Gaza, they will vote against peace and for the destruction of Jews and the Jewish state.

These are the people with whom President Trump expects us to build a future. What this future looks like is anyone’s guess. Trump constantly talks about Gaza in the future as a new Riviera in the Middle East. His vision sees the warzone transformed into a vacation mecca, most likely with a few prominently positioned Trump hotels. The Gaza Trump is selling is a modern-day paradise.

Fortunately, Israelis aren’t buying it. The trouble is that President Trump’s entire utopian fantasy is predicated on the assumption that the Israeli people will collectively forget everything that the Palestinian Arabs have done to them. It is supposed that our entire population will agree to disregard all the horrors we’ve experienced over these past two years and give the Palestinian Arabs a clean slate.

Frankly - he's asking the impossible of us. Going forward as though nothing has happened not only should not happen, it cannot happen. Israelis have been through much, experienced too much, to ever be able to trust Palestinian Arabs again.

Think for a moment what that would look like. Are we expected to welcome Gazans into our cities and businesses, knowing that any one of them could have committed unspeakable crimes against our families? Should we welcome them into our homes, knowing we could be welcoming in murderers and rapists? Do we work with their leadership, knowing just what their leadership leads to?

The reality is that for the rest of our lives, we in Israel will always look at a Gazan and wonder what horrendous crimes he committed. And more often than not, our fears will be warranted.

The president clearly hasn’t thought about us in all of this. Instead, Trump seems to labor under two dangerous delusions. The first is that the Palestinian Arabs will somehow magically change post-ceasefire. The second is that Israelis will accept a life based on willful ignorance.

A modern-day version of the same joke. Never ask a Gazan where they were on October 7th.

The unspoken truth is that Trump’s peace with Gaza is unattainable. Israelis cannot and should not forget what happened. And knowing what they know, what does Trump expect them to do?

Does he expect us to forget what happened and see Gazans as our new neighbors? Are we to get past the unbelievable horrors they inflicted on us? How are we to look on these people as friends, knowing the unbelievable violence they committed?

Does he really expect us to believe that things have changed? Or does he hope that collectively, Israelis will ignore reality for the sake of a peace deal? This seems to be what the President expects of us. For the sake of his peace plan and his future Nobel Peace Prize, Israelis must make nice to the people who were trying to murder them shortly beforehand. The President seems to think that we as a country will agree to pretend that nothing ever happened.

Forgive and forget. Move on. Let go of the past. Platitudes will only take you so far.

But Israelis simply cannot go back to how things were before. We’ve been forever changed. Living through the nightmares of the last two years, any dreams or delusions have collapsed as decisively as Gaza turned into rubble.

It’s understandable thatTrump wants us to forgive them for the sake of peace. He needs at least one party on board with his plan. But it goes deeper than that. Trump is supposedly a Christian, a belief system in which one-sided forgiveness plays a large role. But we are Jews. Jews are not required to blindly forgive. In Judaism, forgiveness only comes after comes after the guilty party has teshuvah, after they have completed sincere repentance. Then, and only then, when the wronging party has made a heartfelt effort to rectify their mistakes, does forgiveness enter.

We are not like their Nazarene, who commands that “If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, offer to them the other cheek also.” And besides, we Jews have already offered enough cheeks throughout our history, more than any Christian nation could ever dream of.

Not only can we not forget what they did to us, we have a duty not to. We owe to the multitudes of those who were massacred to make sure that their memory remains. And we owe to the countless soldiers who gave their lives to make sure that their sacrifices are never forgotten.

If the President would take the time to speak to, rather than at, Israelis he might see with what kind of sentiments his propositions are being met. A survey conducted by the Accord Center reveals that 64% of Israelis say that “there are no innocent people in Gaza,” Among Israeli Jews, consensus increases to 76%, with 42% claiming they “strongly agree.” Voters who switched political affiliations in recent elections exhibit even greater support, with 74% concurring that there are no innocents in Gaza.

Gazans didn’t simply stand by and let October 7th happen. They didn’t even stop at supporting it. They went far beyond any of that. They took part in the massacre and looting and plan to do it again if they’re given a chance. They are not civilians, they are terrorists. And all their titles, doctor, nurse, teacher, lawyer, all these are nothing more than their disguises.

It doesn’t fit into Trump’s long-range dreams for the Middle East, or into his real estate aspirations, but Israelis will not turn a blind eye to who the Palestinian Arabs are and what they have done to us. Nor should we. To play make-believe with our killers dishonors all those who have already died and will ultimately ensure more deaths in the future. We never allow ourselves to forgive or to forget, no matter how politically inconvenient the truth is to the US.

I am grateful for all that President Trump has done for Israel. His securing the release of the remaining hostages will forever be remembered. But in the long term, any peace plan not based on reality is doomed to fail. And the reality is that the Palestinian Arabs of Gaza are not only the monsters who caused October 7th, they are the monsters who are waiting to do it again.

This being the case, we cannot let our guard down. Israelis must not fall for happy lies and beautiful-sounding fantasies. If he thinks his plan will change Palestinian Arabs overnight, Trump is fooling himself. Even so, we don’t have the luxury to also fool ourselves.

Drought in Iran

Iran water crisis

The Kan River, a major waterway that drains the Alborz slopes into the Tehran plain, is now completely dry,

Iran in crisis as major drought forces regime to cut off water to Tehran, consider evacuation

Iran is set to turn off the water in several regions, including Tehran — as the country falls into the grips of its worst drought in decades.

The Islamic Republic announced it would be shutting off its water supply at times due to the mounting crisis which will see the capital dry up — with officials contemplating evacuating it.

“We are forced to cut off water supply to citizens on some evenings so that reservoirs can refill,” Energy Minister Abbas Alibadi said on state television.

Alibadi suggested that Iranians install pumps to compensate for the lack of pressure and supply gaps.

President Masoud Pezehkian warned that if there is no rain by December, Tehran’s roughly 10 million inhabitants may be forced to evacuate to other parts of the country.

Pipes in some provinces have already started running dry.

Half of Iran’s 31 provinces have not seen rainfall in several months.

The terrorist-supportive regime is negotiating importing water from neighboring countries Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Central Iran receives less than 4 inches of rain per year on average.

Iran Throttles Nightly Water Pressure in Tehran Due to Brutal Drought — Denies ‘Rationing’

Officials in Iran have begun cutting the water pressure to homes in Tehran in response to an increasingly dire drought and water supply crisis, but refused to describe the “pressure cuts” as rationing even as it reduced Tehranis’ access to water.

The situation has become acute enough that the repressive Islamist regime in charge of Iran has allowed for open discussion of water rationing in state media and President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is subordinate to “supreme leader” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has proposed relocating Tehran to a more water-rich region.

The American outlet Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) reported that citizens in Tehran had begun documented cuts to their supply of drinking water and “experts” on state media were introducing the idea of water rations or even evacuating the capital if the dams that feed Iran’s plumbing systems do not replenish soon.

“Water rationing should have started much earlier,” RFE/RL quoted Iranian Water Industry Federation leader Reza Hajikarim stating on television. “Currently, 62 percent of Tehran’s water is supplied from underground sources, and the level of these aquifers has dropped.”

While “signals” from the government indicated impending water rationing, the independent outlet Iran International reported that local officials in Tehran emphasized that the calls for water rationing and the lowering of water pressure in homes in the capital were not equivalent to an actual rationing policy.

“No water rationing — the scheduled and announced distribution and supply of water on a rotating basis — has so far been implemented in Tehran or any other city in the country,” the National Water and Wastewater Company insisted in remarks Iran International relayed that appeared in the state-linked Fars News Agency. Iranian officials conceded, however, that they had begun limiting the water pressure at nighttime, referring to the move as a “management tool” separate from rationing.

“We lower water pressure from midnight until around dawn to reduce urban leakage and allow reservoirs to refill,” an Iranian water industry spokesman said, according to Iran International.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), one of the largest Iranian anti-regime organizations in the country, described an “emergency” situation regarding the national water system, not just in Tehran, in an update citing sources on the ground.

“State reports say 19 dams are on the verge of complete depletion, while more than 20 dams are holding under five percent of their capacity,” the NCRI shared. “At the start of Aban (October 23 on Iranian calendar), only eight dams were in such critical condition; within less than two weeks, the number more than doubled, underscoring the rapid deterioration.”

While officials insist that the source of the problem is an unprecedentedly intense state of drought, the NCRI also attributed the water crisis to “years of mismanagement and inadequate investment in water infrastructure, as population growth in major cities outpaced supply planning.”

“Despite repeated warnings from experts, authorities have relied on short-term measures such as pressure reduction and public appeals for conservation instead of structural reforms to modernize networks and control demand,” it added.

In Mashhad, Iran’s second-largest city, local officials conceded on Sunday that water reserves feeding the city from dams have dropped to three percent capacity, demanding better “consumption management.” Reporting on the situation in Mashhad, Iran International observed increased calls from the Islamist government for “moral discipline” on the part of regular Iranians, meaning more consistent efforts to use less water.

Yet Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi conceded in remarks on Sunday that “Tehran’s water pipeline system is more than 100 years old and worn-out.”

Iranian officials have not indicated that the situation is expected to improve in the near future, according to translations of state media broadcasts. On the contrary, Pezeshkian warned on November 6 that evacuating the capital will soon be necessary.

“If Tehran does not get rain by Azar [Iranian calendar month starting on 22 November], we will have to ration water. And if it still does not rain after that, we will have to evacuate the city,” the regional outlet Caspian News, citing the website Entekhab.irreported.

Pezeshkian has repeatedly made calls for building a new capital closer to the Persian Gulf, where the regime can more easily address water shortages. In October, Pezeshkian told local media that Iran does “not have an alternative anymore” from moving the government out of Tehran.

“Last year, rainfall was 140 millimeters, while the standard is 260 millimeters. That means rainfall has fallen by about 50 to 60 percent. This year, the situation is just as critical,” he noted.

https://www.breitbart.com/middle-east/2025/11/11/iran-throttles-nightly-water-pressure-in-tehran-due-to-brutal-drought-denies-rationing/

The US State Department warns that Iran’s regime is neglecting urgent domestic crises, including severe water shortages in Tehran.

"A growing water crisis has led to nationwide water rationing, placing millions of families in Tehran at risk of potential evacuation," the statement read.

The warning comes as Iran grapples with one of its worst water crises in decades. Tehran's reservoirs have dropped to nearly half capacity, and officials have begun implementing nightly water pressure reductions. President Masoud Pezeshkian has cautioned that, without rainfall by December, formal rationing in the capital is inevitable and evacuation may be required.

Water levels in key reservoirs have plummeted, with the Amir Kabir Dam currently at just 8% of its full capacity. The crisis, worsened by decades of mismanagement, has led to similar shortages in major cities, including Mashhad and Isfahan. Nationwide, at least 19 major dams are reported to be effectively dry.

Despite these mounting challenges, authorities have focused on temporary relief measures while urging citizens to install private water storage systems. Critics say the government's response remains insufficient, blaming years of poor planning and political appointments for the worsening situation.
