South Africa: Farm attack averted, suspect fatally wounded, owner arrested for murder, Springs

A farm attack was averted on 29 January 2022, at 00:05 on a small holding in Springs, in the Gauteng province of South Africa. The sleeping owner was alerted by his barking dogs and went to investigate. He observed an attacker climbing over the fence. He woke his son and retrieved his firearm.
The owner screamed at the attacker, who then pointed something at him, believing it was a firearm the owner let off one shot with his shotgun. The attacker fell to the ground.
He and the son then went out and found the suspect laying on the ground next to the fence fatally wounded. Next to him was a black TV and a crowbar.
The owner then phoned the police who confiscated the shotgun and arrested the man for murder.

The springs police are investigating the incident.
