Sweetened Condensed Milk Frosting

Sweetened Condensed Milk Frosting (Stay at Home Chef)

TCM Notes:  If you're like me, and you detest commercial frostings, and you don't feel like making buttercream, here are two quicker choices. The recipes call for only half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, but in my opinion, they need a full teaspoon, so start with ½ tsp, and taste, then determine if it needs another half.





















Vanilla Frosting:
The night before you plan on making this frosting, refrigerate 1 can sweetened condensed milk.

2 sticks butter, softened
1 can chilled sweetened condensed milk
½ tsp vanilla extract

Beat the butter on High speed for 2 minutes. Add the milk and vanilla and beat another 2 minutes on High speed. 

Chocolate Frosting:
1 can sweetened condensed milk, unchilled
1 2-oz bar baking chocolate, roughly chopped
½ tsp vanilla extract

Heat the milk and chocolate over medium heat, stirring constantly for 5-7 minutes, or until thick. Remove from heat, add the vanilla, then cool thoroughly at room temperature.
