NJ man allegedly threatened farmers who denied him sex with animals

A New Jersey man was arrested for asking local farmers permission to have sex with their animals — and then threatening the farmers and damaging their cars when refused, a report said.
Richard Decker, 31, began sending the messages to Sussex County farms and horse stables in 2018, asking the animal caregivers if he could have sex with their cows and horses, the New Jersey Herald reported.
When he was rejected by the farmers, Decker allegedly sent threats and placed homemade metal spikes on their driveways to damage their tires, according to the report.
In one case, he threatened to beat a farmer’s wife with a wooden stick when denied permission.
Several of the property owners reported their tires had been damaged by the spikes.
Decker was arrested in Vernon Township on Oct. 3 after police searched his home.
Inside they found a homemade .22-caliber gun, arrows with explosives attached, and metal spikes similar to those used at the farms.
He was ordered held without bail pending his trial in November.

USA-China reach trade war 'pause'

US-China reach trade war 'pause'

The U.S. and China have reached a partial trade pause.
President Trump, speaking at the White House, said: “We’ve come to a very substantial phase one deal”...adding it will take three to five weeks to get written. The deal includes intellectual property, financial services and $40-$50 billion related to agriculture products. It is unclear what the U.S will give up in return and a comprehensive trade deal will have two or three phases.
The U.S. will not be raising tariffs on the Chinese next week to the 30 percent level as part of this agreement.
U.S. stocks spiked to the highs of the session, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising by nearly 500 points, before pulling back slightly at the close
President Trump signaled this morning that talks were heading in the right direction after a week of trading barbs with the Chinese.
"Good things are happening at China Trade Talk Meeting. Warmer feelings than in recent past, more like the Old Days," he tweeted.

For note: This announcement was not made before Wall Street markets closed for the day and weekend.

Goofy Memes - Political and Otherwise

Goofy Memes - Political and Otherwise

For some reason (my browser, maybe?) I'm unable to post images/jpegs/gifs in the Disqus area here. So, just for giggles, I've decided to create a post with some of the funnier/weirder memes I've come across recently. Feel free to join in!

Ready for..?

Ready for

Rep. Chelsea Clinton?

As if Joe Biden succoring his son with Ukrainian oligarch cash weren't enough nepotism for the princeling political class, here come the big-leaguers in that game, the Clintons.

According to the New York Post:
The retirement of longtime New York Rep. Nita Lowey could open the door for a political newcomer with big political name — Chelsea Clinton.
"Is Chelsea Clinton going to make her move?" one New York Democrat asked shortly after learning of Lowey's retirement.
Page Six first reported in 2016 that the former first daughter was being groomed for the 17th district seat. The district includes Rockland County and portions of Westchester, including the Chappaqua home of Bill and Hillary Clinton.
"Chelsea would be the next extension of the Clinton brand," a source said at the time.

Ugh.

Rather than have Chelsea prove her chops at a minimum in a contested district, Democrats have wheeled out an easy one for her, a safe, solid blue district with no major exertion needed to win, as if to ensure that there is always a Clinton somewhere in power.

Funny how that coincides with Chels also signing her name to the claptrap book about "gutsy women" her mom Hillary Clinton was shilling as her possible new presidential campaign entry, which is just the thing for getting press coverage before announcing a candidacy.

It's as if the whole thing was planned all along.

And it's an amazingly bad idea.  For all Chelsea's fantastic collection of academic honors or $100,000-a-year consulting jobs, has the presidential daughter ever said so much as one thing that suggests a scintilla of talent or creativity?  She exists as a reminder that the Ivy League system is probably, at least to a certain extent, rigged.

So is the New York City and northward district ready to help perpetrate a Clinton dynasty by handing the pampered princess this easy seat?  It will be if these people vote for her.  It's possible they won't — this time it seems there is some primary competition, which might have been what prompted Lowey to throw in the towel.  But it won't be a good thing for the Democrats to entrench an elite, built on scions of past lions, in place of the current dinosaurs who, like Lowey, are getting ready to retire.

Recipes - Fish patties in herb and lemon sauce

Fish patties in herb and lemon sauce

Fish cakes made tangy with fresh coriander and lemon.
  • YIELD: SERVES 6
  • PREP TIME: 20 MINUTES
  • COOK TIME: 25 MINUTES
I picked up my cookbooks, turning the pages at the fish recipes, looking for something interesting and different. I found it in fish cakes lightly stewed in a sauce of coriander leaves and preserved lemon.
The combination of onions, plenty of coriander and lemons, mellowed together with a little pungent turmeric, makes a most delicious tangy sauce for the light fish cakes. We loved the dish. I had to promise the Little One that I’d make it again, many times.

INGREDIENTS

    For the sauce

  • 1 large onion, chopped into large dice
  • 5 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • The skin of 1 pickled lemon, coarsely chopped (lacking that, peel a fresh lemon and chop the flesh)
  • Salt and white pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped coriander
  • For the fish cakes

  • 2 pounds white fish, either filleted or ground
  • 1 slice of white bread (covered in cold water till wet through, then squeezed as dry as possible between your hands till you have damp ball)
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and white pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered ginger, or 1/4 tsp. freshly grated
  • 4 tablespoons rinsed, chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 egg

DIRECTIONS

First, make the sauce. Use your biggest frying pan. Pour the olive oil into it and get it hot.
Fry the onions in the olive oil until they become translucent.
Add the remaining sauce ingredients and sauté everything until it’s all quite soft. Remove from the flame, to be reheated when the fish cakes are ready to cook.
Now, prepare the fish.
If you are using whole fillets, whizz them in the food processor, but don’t put them in until you have already processed the moist bread, onions, seasonings and egg.
When those are very well chopped, then add the fish. Make sure there’s no skin, or you’ll have to fish out rags of skin from the puréed mass afterwards, and that’s no fun.
Process only until everything is well chopped and blended.
If you’re using ground fish, just mix the onions, seasonings and egg up and mix them into the fish, beating well.
Reheat the sauce, then turn the flame down to low.
With wet hands, form thick patties about 2″ across. Put them into the hot sauce and let them cook for 15-20 minutes.
Check after 10 minutes; if each patty has a little “skirt” of egg around it, turn them over.
It doesn’t take long to finish cooking. Check after 5 minutes; the underside should be golden and maybe starting to stick to the pan.
Serve with rice, steamed green beans, and sliced tomatoes for a pretty presentation and satisfying meal.

Salmon Patties Recipe (one I like)

Best-Ever Salmon Patties

by

Salmon Patties Horizontal
ETHAN CALABRESE
We LOVE these patties. They're the perfect way to upgrade a simple can of salmon. They're just as delicious served on a bed of greens as they are between a bun! Read on for more helpful tips to make your salmon patties the best they can be.
Can I use canned tuna instead of salmon?
You could, but we wouldn't recommend it. Tuna has a strong (and particular) flavor that doesn't quite mesh with the other ingredients in this recipe. It's also a bit leaner than salmon, which will make for a much drier patty. If canned tuna is all you've got, I suggest our best tuna salad recipe. It's a keeper.
I'm low carb, can I leave out the bread crumbs?
Totally! The bread crumbs work as a binder, so if you're having trouble getting your mixture into patties, try adding another egg. The results might be slightly less perfectly round than pictured, but they'll be just as delicious!
How long will these patties last?
Kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator, these should last 2 to 3 days after being cooked. To reheat, add a teaspoon or two of olive oil to your skillet and heat over medium-low. When your pan is warm, add patties and cook until the outsides have crisped up and the centers are warm through, 6 to 8 minutes all together.
I don't like dill. What can I use instead?
Pretty much any fresh herb will do here! Chives, basil, parsley, or cilantro would all be delicious.
I don't like mayo. Can I replace it with something else?
Definitely! Try full fat Greek yogurt instead. It'll be a little bit more tangy than if you used mayo, but still super delicious.
