Streets of San Francisco: Coffee Heir Goes Bonkers, Rams Tesla Vehicle

Lazy coffee heir who lives in huge mansion goes on Land Rover rampage through streets of San Francisco

A San Francisco nepo baby went on a violent rampage in his Land Rover before fleeing from police.

Austin Hills, 45, who is the heir to the Hills Bros. Coffee company fortune, is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon and evading an officer following a spree on the streets of San Francisco.

The chaos began after Hills tailgated a Tesla, before ramming into the vehicle.

A Tesla security guard said he was taking a break on his night shift and was in one of the electric vehicles when he was targeted at around 3.15am.

He said the driver, later identified as Hills, 'made an unusual hand gesture' as he started following him, before turning off his head lights and attempted to rear-end the Tesla 'at high speed'.

Hills, who lives in a $12.5 million Bay Area mansion, tried to ram into the Tesla numerous times, and followed the security guard into a Tesla warehouse parking lot.

He then picked another target, and plowed into an occupied Kia vehicle three times.

When police located him on a nearby road he fled the scene and led cops on a daring high-speed pursuit.

Fremont Police admitted they lost Hills on Interstate 680 when he turned off his lights and 'began driving erratically at a high rate of speed'.

(distance from San Francisco to Fremont, across SF Bay, is about 40 miles)

Hills was arrested at around 7:20am at the Napa Police headquarters.

(distance from Fremont to Napa is about 70 miles)

Investigators said they found several items including a pressure cooker, a gas mask, ammunition and a drone inside his vehicle.

Hills was previously slighted by his millionaire father, San Francisco socialite Austin E. Hills, for having 'been unemployed far longer than employed throughout his adult life', a 2020 court filing said.

Hills is best known in the San Francisco area for his failed political runs, after previously filing to run for San Francisco mayor in 2024 and district attorney in 2022, despite not being a lawyer.

Court records cited by the San Francisco Chronicle said Hills suffers from bipolar disorder.

Hills' great-grandfather and great-uncle were the founders of the Hills Bros. Coffee company in the late 1800s, before it was bought by Nestle in the 1980s.

It was later bought by Sara Lee in 1999 and then Massimo Zanetti in 2006, and expanded to a national product bought by millions of Americans.

Hills admitted to police when he was arrested that he was the driver of the Land Rover, but alleged that it was the Tesla driver who was driving erratically.

He said the Kia driver blocked him in before they accidentally collided, and claimed that he had no recollection of fleeing from police, saying his lack of memory was due to 'stress'.

Court records said he 'showed no remorse for his actions', and he was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

Public records note Hills' residence at a $12.5 million townhouse next to Alta Plaza Park in San Francisco, however the Chronicle reported that he listed his residence in court records in the Napa Valley wine country.

He is the eldest son of Austin E. Hills, a socialite and the co-founder and chairman of Grgich Hills Estate, a winery in Napa Valley.

His father said in a scathing court filing in 2020 that his son, 'has a checkered employment history, having been unemployed far longer than employed throughout his adult life'.

According to court records cited by the Chronicle, prosecutors said Hills has an 'extensive and violent criminal history', that includes arrests for assault with a deadly weapon, suspicion of arson, and several firearms offenses.

His rap sheet dates back to 2009 and includes 11 criminal cases in San Francisco, and his most recent case in July 2024 was referred to a mental health authority.

A friend said Hills had suffered from bouts of mental illness in recent years, and said when he was off his medication he would suffer manic episodes where he would drive recklessly

The friend added that Hills was very attached to his Land Rover, and described it as 'his identity'. The image shows a Land Rover from Hills' social media, although it is not clear if this was the same vehicle used in the episode last week

A confidant of Hills, who remained anonymous, told the Chronicle that she knew him to be a 'sweetheart' who had suffered from bouts of mental illness in recent years.

She said when he was off his medication he would suffer manic episodes where he would drive recklessly and would rage at other motorists, but had not seen anything as serious as his alleged spree a week ago.

Illegal Immigration Driving Black Market Economy

Illegal Immigration a Driving Force Behind Britain’s Quarter Trillion Black Market Economy

Illegal immigration is fuelling the ballooning black market economy in Britain, which now stands at over a quarter of a trillion pounds sterling per year, a report has found.

According to an upcoming report from the independent National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) organisation, the number of people involved in the black market economy has grown by 80 per cent since 2016. The report found that as many as one in ten adults in Britain are connected to the underground economy.

The Sun on Sunday newspaper reported that NatCen claimed that this has resulted in the black market expanding to a staggering £260 billion industry, enabling delinquent businesses to avoid around £2.2 billion in tax every year. The social research organisation specifically pointed to the illegal migrant crisis in recent years as a top contributor to the burgeoning black market.

Previously, French prosecutor Pascal Marconville claimed that people smuggling networks operating on both sides of the English Channel often trade passage to impoverished illegals in exchange for them signing up to work in the underground economy in Britain, such as in cannabis farms, laundrettes, or restaurants to pay the debt incurred for gaining access to their small boat network.

Illegal migration has also been tied to the fast fashion industry, with thousands of modern slaves working in sweatshops in multicultural cities like Leicester, according to a 2020 report from the Centre for Social Justice.

Though British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer campaigned in last year’s general election on a pledge to “smash” the people smuggling gangs behind the illegal boat migrant crisis, the number of illegals successfully reaching UK shores from the beaches of France have continued to grow, hitting a record high for this time of year of over 16,000 since Jannuary.

The report comes as the governing left-wing Labour Party has come under criticism after Treasury minister Darren Jones claimed that the majority of illegal migrants crossing the Channel are “children, babies and women”. This was contradicted by the government’s own figures, which found that last year over seven in ten illegal boat migrants were males, or 26,999 out of all 36,816 illicit arrivals.

Commenting on the report, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage told The Sun on Sunday: “The British people are being taken for fools again. We already know that our borders are in chaos. But, thanks to successive Labour and Tory governments, those arriving then go on to work illegally on the £260 billion black market economy.”

“And all the while we pay for their accommodation. Nearly 40,000 boat migrants have arrived since Labour came to power — and numbers are up 40 per cent on this time last year. How many of these already work on the black market without paying tax? Labour has long championed the mantra of British jobs for British workers. But brickies and builders are being undercut by illegal labour.

Britain is in social and economic decline. The social contract is stretched to its limits. People that pay their taxes and play by the rules increasingly feel shafted.Yes, these migrants may be victims of exploitation — but they are also part of the criminal economy. Unscrupulous bosses are laughing all the way to the bank while British workers get priced out again.”

Mr Farage said that the only means of solving the crisis would be to immediately deport anyone who enters the country illegally and to leave the deportation-blocking European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and its associated court in Strasbourg, which Britain is still a member of despite Brexit as it is technically a separate institution from the EU.

The Reform boss remarked: “Keir Starmer’s soft touch is laughable. He promised to smash the gangs — but all he has smashed are illegal immigration records.”

George Orwell Estate Adds "Trigger Warning" to 1984

George Orwell estate accused of censorship after putting trigger warning at start of Nineteen Eighty-Four

George Orwell's estate has been accused of censorship after a 'trigger warning' was added to his classic novel Nineteen Eighty Four.

The preface of the the 75th anniversary edition suggests Orwell's protagonist Winston Smith is 'problematic' and that readers may find his views on women 'despicable'.

The introductory essay was written by US novelist Dolen Perkins-Valdez and critics claim it risks undermining the revolutionary novel's warning against state control of thought.

Orwell's dystopian hyperbolic future is set under an authoritarian regime, where citizens are punished by the 'Thought Police' for subversive thoughts.

It follows Winston Smith and a minor bureaucrat who secretly rebels against the regime with Julia, a fellow party member.

But their doomed affair comes to an end and the hearts of readers are broken when they are arrested, tortured and brainwashed into betraying one another.

The novel has been hailed as one of the most influential pieces of literature of all time.

Now, the author's estate has been accused of ideological policing.

US writer Walter Kirn said on the podcast America this Week: 'We're getting someone to actually convict George Orwell himself of thought crime.

'We're not yet in a world where books and classic books are being excised or eliminated,' Kirn added, but warned the Orwell estate-approved edition of 1984 had been 'published with an apology for itself'.

The book already had a foreword written by American novelist Thomas Pynchon, leading Mr Kirn to question why a second was needed.

'These people felt they needed an introduction before the old white man's introduction. So this version of 1984 has a trigger warning!'

He called it 'the most 1984-ish thing I've ever f***ing read'.

Ms Perkins-Valdez wrote she was enjoying the novel until Winston revelas himself to be a 'problematic' character who 'disliked nearly all women, and especially the young and pretty ones.'

She added the novel doesn't address race and as a black woman she found it difficult to connect with the characters.

The anniversary edition of the 1949 classic is published by Berkley Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House.

Bill Hamilton, of literary agency A.M. Heath, which represents the Orwell Estate, said they had not been made aware of the new introduction.

He added: 'I am of course disappointed that the publisher hadn't made me aware of it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of the book.

'Orwell characteristically put up failures as his male protagonists: it was a way of challenging the reader. To expect to like Winston Smith or indeed the message of the novel is rather missing his purpose for the book, which does clearly show a misogynistic world in all its degradation.'

FAFO: Looney Leftists Try To March From Egypt To Gaza

Egyptian authorities violently clash with Western activists, detain and deport marchers en mass

A Gaza aid activist has said they were 'violently dragged' onto buses and 'beaten' as Egyptian authorities deported them.

Thousands have been arriving from more than 80 countries since Thursday to join the Global March to Gaza protest.

The some 4,000 volunteers landed in Cairo as planned, then taking buses to the city of Arish in the north of the country's Sinai Peninsula.

From there, they hope to start their planned march, on a roughly 30-mile route, to the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing on the Gaza border.

But organisers said today that several dozen activists were stopped on the edge of Cairo as they attempted to reach the Suez Canal city of Ismailia, which is around a three-hour drive from Arish.

One posted a video to social media while on a bus heading there, saying: 'This is an emergency.

'We have just been violently dragged into the buses here at the first checkpoint on the way to Ismailia.

'We were sitting quietly and not doing anything. We were debating that we would leave soon, in taxis back to Cairo because we did not break any law.

'And all of a sudden, several people stormed in and they started to push people and drag them violently outside.

'They have beaten people. I have seen one woman that was beaten in her face in front of me. They didn't leave time to grab the luggage or anything.

'So, this is one of the Secret Service people that was just walking in here. I have to stop this livestream now - we are in danger. This is an emergency. We need to help.'

Most of the activists were ordered onto buses back to the capital after several hours of questioning - but some remain in custody today, organisers said.

'We were blocked for six to seven hours before security forces violently dispersed our group,' one organiser said.

At least one activist was expelled from Egypt, several sources said, adding to dozens more denied entry or expelled in the run-up to the march.

Egyptian authorities have not commented on the reported expulsions.

The foreign ministry had warned that any foreign delegations intending to visit the border area must obtain prior permission.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said allowing the activists through the border would 'endanger the security of IDF soldiers'.

He added he expected Egypt 'to prevent the arrival of jihadist demonstrators to the border of Egypt-Israel and not to allow them to carry out provocations and to try to enter into Gaza'.

Global March to Gaza announced on Instagram that there had been " violence against the peaceful global delegation", including people being "detained, harassed, physically harmed and deported."

Violent clashes broke out between Egyptian authorities and foreign pro-Palestine activists taking part in the 'Resistance Convoy' to Rafah on Friday and Saturday. Most of the clashes occurred while activists staged a sit-in outside the Ismailia checkpoint.

Global March to Gaza announced on Instagram that there had been "unprovoked violence against a peaceful global delegation", including people being "detained, harassed, physically harmed and deported."

"The group, comprised of people from over 80 countries, are expecting to be safely transferred to Cairo and have their passports returned."

The group, however, said that if this does not happen, and Egypt attempts to "forcibly" deport members, it would then launch Plan B involving "a non-violent protest."

"In the event of this outcome, the leadership of the march will initiate a hunger strike, refusing food as a form of peaceful resistance."‎‏

Protests against Egyptian locals

Footage from organizing groups shows keffiyeh-clad activists clashing with Egyptian locals, who can be seen lobbing clubs and water bottles at them as they attempt to advance. Other videos show local Egyptians grabbing at the seated activists, and screams and shouts can be heard.

In one clip posted by @paliboy_83, thousands of activists can be seen chanting 'Free Palestine' while waving various flags, such as Swiss and Algerian, before being attacked by what he claims are "Egypt's police in civilian clothing."

German activist Mohammad Al-Zubide said, "These people were sent specifically by the Egyptian police to suppress and beat us."

"The Egyptian government has stopped peaceful foreign nationals at the Ismailia checkpoint to prevent them from proceeding towards the Rafah border. Authorities have confiscated passports and compelled many to turn back by force."

The grandson of Nelson Mandela, Mandla Mandela, who is participating in the convoy, released a video on social media announcing that he had been detained for about an hour from Cairo and his passport had been confiscated.

"We are held here at one of the checkpoints without being permitted to proceed."‎‏

Multiple Western activists have appeared on Instagram claiming that they were attacked and had their passports taken and now are stuck in Egypt.

One German-sounding activist released a video saying, "this is an emergency, we have just been violently dragged into the buses here at the first checkpoint on the way to Ismailia. We were sitting quietly and not doing anything. And all of a sudden, several people stormed in and they started to push people and attack them violently outside. I have seen a woman that was beaten in her face. They didn't leave time to grab the luggage or anything."

She claimed that secret service people had boarded the bus, before shutting down the video: "we are in danger, we need help."‎‏

In a now-viral video, a Welsh nurse activist can be heard trying to negotiate with Egyptian riot police via a translator: "where is your kindness, where is your heart?" he asks them while crying. "For the love of life and the love of humanity."

"There are babies and women, the women are trying to feed their dying babies and their breasts are empty," he tried to persuade the police. "Do you know what that smells like, do you know what that sounds like?"

He continues by asking them to stand with their "brothers and sisters in Palestine" before getting on his knees and saying "I will beg you to allow us to march to Palestine."

The Egyptian authorities, standing in a line, do not reply.

A woman tells the Welsh activist "they are waiting for orders, they can't hear you," to which he replies "I know, but they don't have to follow orders."

US career diplomat Hala Rharrit - who resigned over Biden's position on the war in Gaza - was detained on arrival at Cairo airport, passport taken and interrogated, she announced on Instagram.

"I would have hoped for a warmer welcome," she said "especially considering this March was fully coordinated with Egyptian authorities by the organizers well in advance."

Global March reposted the words of a participant who accused Egypt of being "utterly complicit in the genocide of the Palestinian people."

It then reposted the supposed emergency WhatsApp message from an Irish citizen saying "guys, keep eyes on us, we are in a bus with a guy who beat us and is on the phone to a very white zio looking person." Global March for Gaza claimed the Irish citizen "urgently needs help."

March to Gaza's Greece wing praises its members for remaining "calm despite the pressure and violence by the Egyptian police."

The branch reported being given an ultimatum by Egyptian authorities to "either leave in 15 or you will be expelled" The activists chose to stay they decided to stay, "until the Egyptian police forces launched violent attacks against members of the Greek delegation and also the internationals."

The Canadian delegation was similarly detained including someone named Dr Yipeng, who confirmed that their papers had all been taken at the Ismailia checkpoint.

UN Special Rapporteur for Gaza and Palestine, Francesca Albanese, released a message of support for the marchers and urged Egyptian authorities "to use maximum restraint.
