A lawmaker in Iran urged his countrymen to attack the White House directly in response to President Trump's order to kill top Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani.
"We can attack the White House itself, we can respond to
them on the American soil. We have the power, and God willing we will
respond in an appropriate time," MP Abolfazl Abutorabi said on Sunday, according to Iranian news agency ILNA.
Soleimani is believed to be responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American service members, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been deemed an official terrorist organization by the U.S. government since 2014.
Abutorabi went on to say the Iranians "should crush America's teeth" during an impassioned speech before Parliament.
Trump threatened to ramp up the violence against Iran late Saturday, tweeting, "Let this serve as a WARNING that if Iran strikes any Americans, or American assets, we have targeted 52 Iranian sites (representing the 52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago), some at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture, and those targets, and Iran itself, WILL BE HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD. The USA wants no more threats!"

U.S. military officials said the missile strike that led to Soleimani's death was in response to an "imminent threat" he and the Guard posed to American lives in the region. Since the Iranian general's killing, the State Department and the Pentagon have ordered all U.S. citizens in Baghdad to leave the country immediately.
Trump said Friday he did not order the killing of Soleimani to "start a war" but to end one.
