A farm murder took place on Saturday 25 September 2021, at 01:00, on a smallholding in Kameeldrift East, outside Pretoria, in the Gauteng province of South Africa. Five armed attackers gained entry to the home through a window after breaking the burglar bars.
Levyno Botha (70) was overpowered by the attackers on his bed.
Botha’s wife, Amelia (64) was also in the house but in another bedroom.
After hearing the commotion she went to investigate and was confronted by one of the attackers who then fled out the kitchen door.
Amelia then called out to her son, who stays on the property, for help. When her son stormed into the home to assist the attackers fired a shot at her husband but the shot missed.
The attackers were in the process of ransacking the home and gathering items to steal but only managed to take a phone and a wallet before fleeing.
One of the attackers, who was already outside fired a shot through the broken window at Levyno Botha hitting him in the back, fatally wounding him.
All role players and police responded but there have been no arrests.
