A farm attack took place on Sunday 10 October 2021, at 20:40, on a smallholding between Bettys Bay and Pringle Bay, in the Western Cape province of South Africa. A man (80) and his wife (77) were overpowered, assaulted and tied to chairs by two armed attackers in their cottage when the man had gone outside to investigate why the alarm at the main house, on the same property, was going off.
The man who was overpowered outside was taken back into the home where the assault took place.
The woman was stripped of her jewellery by the attackers who demanded cash while the man suffered a head wound from being pistol whipped.
During the attack a security company arrived to investigate the alarm that was activated at the main house.
The security guard also went to the cottage. His arrival caused the attackers to flee through a window with the couple’s cellphones, both their wallets, cards and cash.
The security company along with the neighbourhood watch and other role players searched for the suspects but there were no arrests.
There is no other information available at this stage.
