South Africa: Farm attack, farmer hospitalised after 5 attackers open fire, Tulbagh

A farm attack took place on 20 October 2021, at 20:45, on the Oudekloof farm, in Tulbagh, in the Western Cape province of South Africa. A farmer, Jurgens Hanekom was watching TV when he saw two unknown black male at the front door wearing balaclavas. He also noticed another three unknown black men at the side door also wearing balaclavas.
He then heard a gun shots go off. The next moment he realised he was shot in the right leg.
He immediately jumped up and managed to get to his bedroom where his wife Jolanda was.
He retrieved his firearm out of the safe. In the meantime a stone was also thrown through the side door of the home.
Hanekom then fired approximately 6 shots inside the house in the direction from where the stone was thrown.
His response caused the attackers to flee the scene.
All role players, including the Tulbagh and Wolseley farm watch groups and other services responded. But there have been no arrests.
Hanekom was transported to hospital for medical attention.
