A farm attack took place on 4 January 2022, at 08:45, on Rietspruit farm in Standerton in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. A woman was alone at home after her husband left for work in town. She went out of the house to feed the horses and when she returned she was overpowered by two young unknown African males wearing dark clothes and masks.
One asked her in Afrikaans where the money was. He forced her to the ground, kicked her in her side and held a carpet knife/cutter against her throat.
She fought back and in the process she sustained superficial cut wounds on her arms and left thigh.
The second suspect went to her car where about R15000.00 of her employer’s money was and the two suspects ran off once the second one confirmed that he had found the money.
The two attackers then ran into the bushes outside the yard.
Apart from the money, her wallet with R500 00 cash, her bank cards and license were also robbed. She went into the house and phoned her husband.
Police are investigating the attack.
The area was cordoned off by local farmers and the area was scanned with a drone and an aeroplane, but there were no arrests.
There is no other information available at this stage.
