When it comes to adults sexualizing children, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis does not mess around. After having gone toe-to-toe with Disney over the left’s grooming agenda, and recently passing a monumental bill that protects children from radical sexual perversion in schools, DeSantis is turning his attention to the horrific Drag Queen Story Hour scourge that is sweeping the nation.
Instead of holding the tired line of ‘you do you’, DeSantis said that he intends to use the powers afforded to him under Florida law, including Child Protective Services (CPS), to protect children from exposure to hyper-sexualized Drag Queen performances. And rightfully so. As he pointed out, there is absolutely no place for children at these events.
“I’ve asked my folks to look, we have child protective statutes on the books,” DeSantis clarified during a press conference in Fort Myers Beach on Wednesday. “We have laws against child endangerment.”
DeSantis’ comments come in response to a series of viral online videos showing one of these ‘Drag Queen Story Hour’ events that took place at a 21+ gay bar in Texas last week. Videos from the event, titled ‘Drag the Kids to Pride,’ shockingly show young children participating in the hyper-sexualized performance and handing dollar bills to the adult men as they danced provocatively.
Adding to the horror of it all, the sickening show was presided over by a large pink neon sign that literally said “it’s not gonna lick itself.”
And that’s in red Texas, in places like New York, Drag Queens are paid by the taxpayer to perform at public middle schools for 5-year-olds. And they give hands-on makeup lessons to boot.
America has lost its damn mind.
Fortunately, this kind of thing isn’t going to fly in Florida. At least not on DeSantis’ watch.
DeSantis continued:
“You had these very young kids, and they must have been like 9, 10 years old, at a quote, ‘drag show,’ where they were putting money in the underwear of this. That is totally inappropriate. That is not something that children should be exposed to…
We probably – we may have the ability to deal with that if something like that happens… That was really, really disturbing. We want our kids to be kids. They want to have normal environment. Part of the reason why we fought the fight with parents rights in education is because there’s a movement to inject these things like gender ideology in elementary schools even.
…So we’re going to look to see what could be done under existing statutes…It used to be kids would be off-limits. Used to be everybody agreed with that. Now it just seems like there’s a concerted effort to be exposing kids more and more to things that are not age appropriate.”
It’s about time our elected leaders put their foot down on this issue, saying not in this state. Especially considering that there are already laws on the books to prevent this sickening scenario from taking place. What happened last week in Texas should be (and is already in many ways) illegal. The fact that Dallas Police stood by outside the bar as children were subjected to that performance is truly shocking.
Thankfully, Florida isn’t governed by a fake, sellout, World Economic Forum stooge RINO like Texas is – looking at you Greg Abbott. DeSantis’ stand on these issues is a much-needed breath of fresh air in a time when the majority of Republican elected officials are AWOL (or complicit) in the worst way.
