Runaway Pig Named Kevin Bacon Lured Back to his Pigpen With Trail of Oreos

Runaway pig named Kevin Bacon lured back to his Wisconsin pen with OREOS

  •  A 450-pound runaway pig named Kevin Bacon escaped from a farm last Friday
  • It spent a weekend at Jake Molgaard's house and scarfed down some apples, rice cakes, tomatoes, and carrots, along with its favorite snacks - doughnuts
  •  It was finally lured back to its pen with a trail of Oreo cookies

A 450-pound runaway pig named Kevin Bacon was lured back to its Wisconsin pen with a trail of Oreo cookies after it unexpectedly showed up at a family's backyard doorstep.

The pig escaped from a farm in Brighton, about 38 miles south of Milwaukee, sometime on Friday, wandering a mile down the road while its owner was out of town for the weekend.

The porker ended up at Jake Molgaard's backdoor and was caught on his security camera hamming it up.

'My wife spotted an unusually shaped figure on our driveway camera walking along our garage,' Molgaard, a 40-year-old local business owner, told AP.

With a trail of Oreo cookies and assistance from the Kenosha County sheriff's office, it took Molgaard and his family two and a half hours to lead Kevin the pig back to his pen, located only a mile away.

After spotting the bulky stranger at their home, Molgaard's wife started feeding it right away, as Molgaard added, 'that's what she does with every animal that comes to our backyard.'

Kevin scarfed down some apples, rice cakes, tomatoes, and carrots, along with its favorite snacks - doughnuts.

Molgaard made a few phone calls to find the pig's owner, who was out of town when his pig squeezed its way out of the barn and walked down the road.

The owner had to ask the Molgaards to lure Kevin back to its pen, adding that the big pig is partial to cookies, marshmallows and other sweets.

With some Oreo cookies and any tempting treats they could find in the fridge, the family and Kevin embarked on a two-and-a-half-hour adventure along a side road.

Molgaard's 16-year-old daughter Chloe Delaney jumped on the pig's back at one point during the walk, so that the bulky animal could speed up.

'The owner said that if he stops on you, you can jump on his back and he likes to run at that point,' Molgaard told KKTV.

'They wanted to adopt him immediately. And I said we don't have a place to put a 450-pound pig. But yeah, they fell in love with him right away,' Molgaard said

Deputies were dispatched to address what they referred to as a 'typical county call' and assisted in escorting the pig back to its property 'safely and not too quickly,' according to the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department.

Captured in a photo shared on social media, a deputy can be seen posing with the porker, wearing a bright smile.

After the sheriff left smiling, the pig and its temporary caretakers finished the rest of the journey on their own, Molgaard said.

'He is a massive creature, but the owner says he's a gentle giant. We have been over there every day giving him a dozen donuts,' he added.

Kevin the pig is now back home safe and seems to be in good spirits. After spending a weekend together, it has also become a part of the family.

'They wanted to adopt him immediately. And I said we don't have a place to put a 450-pound pig. But yeah, they fell in love with him right away,' Molgaard said.
