Early buzz’ on report: Obama’s FBI willfully misled FISA court to commit ‘political surveillance’ of Trump

The Hill’s John Solomon: “The term ‘political surveillance” could become very popular this fall.”
The Hill’s investigative reporter John Solomon says Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s final report detailing the dubious origins of the Obama FBI’s Trump “collusion” investigation will be released in late-September or early-October.
“Barring any new disclosures, the IG is on course [to release its report] early- to mid-September to the first week of October as the window they are trying to hit,” Solomon told Fox Business host Lou Dobbs.
Solomon said the early buzz suggests that the Obama FBI intentionally acted in a corrupt and biased manner to illegally spy on Trump campaign aides.
“[There’s going to be] the emergence of very strong evidence that the FBI knowingly and willfully misled the FISA Court,” Solomon said. “And the US intelligence agencies may have also been involved in what Bill Barr calls ‘political surveillance.’ It’s a term I’ve never heard before. He chooses his words clearly. The term ‘political surveillance” could become very popular this fall.”
Lou Dobbs expressed his disgust about the ongoing delays in the release of the IG report.
Dobbs was reacting to Senator Lindsey Graham’s recent claims that the report will be “ugly and damning” for the Obama DOJ because of its gross mishandling of the Russia investigation. Graham also teased that the IG Report will be coming out in a few weeks.
Dobbs said he doesn’t believe Senator Graham’s timetable because Republicans have cried wolf too many times on the IG Report.
“The RINO and often-confused Sen. Lindsey Graham making some bizarre statements over the weekend, about the imminent release of the Department of Justice inspector general report on FISA abuse,” Dobbs said. “Now where have we heard that before? And heard that repeatedly?”
In April 2019, U.S. Attorney General William Barr said he expected the IG report to be “complete in May or June.” In July, the New York Times claimed the IG report will be made public “in the coming weeks.” Since then, others have suggested that report could be delayed even further.
In July, The Hill’s John Solomon reported that the Obama FBI knew way back in 2017 that 90% or more of Christopher Steele’s anti-Trump dossier contained bogus claims and was unverified, but they used it anyway to obtain sham FISA warrants to illegally spy on Trump campaign officials.
“It took until 2019 for the American public to get a definitive answer, when the Mueller report came out,” Solomon said. “But in early 2017, the FBI had begun a significant effort to assess the credibility of the Steele dossier. And here’s what they found: They interviewed one of its primary sources — a Russian living in the West — and they came to the assessment after the interview, which I believe was in January-February of 2017, that he was either intentionally misleading Steele or exaggerating in ways that caused Steele’s report to be grossly inaccurate.”
Solomon continued: “They then took every factual statement in the Steele dossier, put them in a spreadsheet and analyzed them. They came to conclude that the vast majority of them were either wrong or unverifiable despite all the intelligence the FBI had. That is the quality of what they had. And why is that significant? At the time, [the Obama FBI] were continuing to represent to the FISA Court that Christopher Steele was a reputable source.”
Despite their skepticism about the sham dossier, Obama holdovers in the FBI (under James Comey’s direction) used the dossier to support their requests for FISA warrants in order to spy on Trump campaign aides.
The FBI also knew that the dossier’s author — discredited former British spy Christopher Steele — planted stories in the media in order to buttress the bogus claims made in the dossier, which was paid for by Hillary Clinton‘s 2016 campaign.
The FBI then used this circular reporting to bolster its sham FISA application in order to illegally spy on the 2016 Trump campaign.
The FBI never revealed to the FISA court that the dossier was paid for by Hillary’s camp and that the dossier’s author, Christopher Steele, passionately hated Donald Trump.
