South Africa: Farm attack, couple held hostage after man lured outside, shot 3 times, Kameeldrift East

A farm attack took place on Tuesday night 6 July 2021, in Haakdoornlaagte, Kameeldrift East near Pretoria, in the Gauteng province of South Africa. The man was shot three times after he went outside his house to check on a security camera that had been tampered with.
The wounded man and his wife were then held hostage for three hours as their home was looted by the attackers.
The man who had been shot in his thigh, hip and leg was held hostage by the attackers along with his wife until 02:00 on the morning of 7 July 2021.
The attackers ransacked the home and fled with jewellery, electronic equipment, laptops, a television set, and cell phones.
After the attackers fled, the man’s wife rushed him to hospital where he is recovering in the ICU.
People, but especiaçllly those living in rural or isolated areas are again warned to not go outside their homes if they suspect something is wrong. Rather get involved with local neighbourhood and farm watches and have adequate security.

Police are investigating. There have been no arrests.
