'Peace Circles' Instead of Prisons Lead to Shootouts in Chicago

'Peace Circles' Instead of Prisons Lead to Shootouts in Chicago

It’ll take a hell of a peace circle to raise the dead.

1,120 people have been shot so far this year in Chicago. 282 people have been murdered. According to the HeyJackass shot clock, someone in Chicago gets shot every 3 minutes.

Good thing the city has “peace circles”.

Police defunders have been tasked with coming up with “restorative justice” alternatives to the three P’s, police, prosecutors, and prisons, that ask criminals to apologize to their victims.

That’s the principle of the “peace circle” in which the thug meets with his victim, says “sorry” and then leaves a free man to shoot, stab, or kill.

Chicago's pro-crime politicians eagerly embraced "peace circles". There are peace circles in schools and a whole lot of "trained facilitators" have hung up their shingles. While pro-crime activists claim that peace circles come from Indian culture, they’re actually one of the stupidly disastrous ideas promoted by Howard Zehr, a white leftist who went to a black college on a minority scholarship, and helped inflict the concept of “restrorative justice” on the country.

The Circuit Court of Cook County has a salaried Restorative Justice Community Court Peace Circle Keeper. And dangerous criminals keep being diverted from prison to peace circles.

That's what happened when cops caught Ojani Cruz with a gun during a traffic stop. Prosecutors wanted him locked up, but one judge let him out on his own recognizance while another sent him to have his arrest record expunged at a peace circle.

"They say, 'Peace, peace', when there is no peace," Jeremiah prophesied.

A month after being enrolled in the peace circle treatment, Cruz opened fire on a couple sitting in a minivan. He "circled the vehicle" and "kept firing until he ran out of bullets". When it was all over, a 20-year-old woman was shot in the back and left paralyzed from the waist down.

Prosecutors have charged Cruz with first degree murder and the judge denied bail, but it's too little too late. Had the justice system been allowed to do its job, Cruz would have been locked up. But instead Chicago’s restorative justice and peace circles claimed another victim.

“We cannot prosecute our way out of the kinds of crimes," Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans falsely claimed. “People who hurt people have generally been hurt themselves.”

Evans, a Chicago alderman for nearly two decades, has spent another disastrous three decades on the Cook County bench, and even Democrat officials have had enough.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot blasted Evans for "making Chicago neighborhoods less safe.”

“There is no dispute that people charged with murder and other crimes of violence are out in communities with zero supervision, both adults and juveniles."

Klevontaye White was let loose with nothing more than an ankle monitor after 15 counts of aggravated sex assault with a firearm, he cut off his bracelet and then engaged in a shootout with police. The police didn’t bring their peace pipes. They shot back and won the fight.

And Newsweek put Klevontaye on its list of “black people killed by police”.

7-year-old Jaslyn Adams was shot and killed at a McDonald's by a group of thugs, one of whom had been out with an ankle monitor despite being accused of robbery, manufacturing/delivery of cocaine, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. This has become typical of Chicago’s pro-crime policies where even the worst monsters can freely walk the streets.

"I have about 100 people on home monitoring who are charged with murder," Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart said.

"Two brothers who murdered a person 11 bullets into them, in front of witnesses,” Lightfoot argued. “And at least one of them was out on another gun charge, on electronic monitoring. This isn’t working. We need to have trials and we need to put dangerous people behind bars so that the community is actually safe.”

But Judge Evans still loves peace circles and restorative justice for violent thugs. “We thought, if somebody is on drugs or stealing television sets or cell phones or whatever it was, all we had to do was arrest them, prosecute them, convict them and send them to jail," he rambled.

Now Evans preaches the gospel of freeing as many criminals as possible.

In 2021, Cook County had the most murders in almost 30 years. In May 2022 it was reported that downtown shootings were up 64%.

“This is just the start,” Evans announced to cheers, while opening a "restorative justice" court. “Englewood, we are on our way! Roseland, we are on our way!”

It was more of a threat than a promise.

Englewood has racked up 23 murders and 102 wounded this year. Roseland is lagging behind with 6 murders and only 29 wounded.

The peace circles keep growing and people keep dying because the justice system in Chicago, like those in cities where pro-crime policies prevail, stands on the side of the criminals.

Judge Evans claimed that in the new system, “we are focusing on punishment, but on healing”.

But there’s no healing for the family of Jaslyn Adams, for the woman shot and paralyzed for life by a peace circle alum, or any of the other victims being protected by the peace circles.

In Chicago, there’s no peace for the people, only for the politicians and the criminals, who are often one and the same.

Judge Patricia Spratt, who presides over the North Lawndale Restorative Justice Community Court, said that the court is about "repairing harm. Not being retributive and sending you to jail".

How will Chicago’s pro-crime judges repair the harm they have caused to crime victims?

It’ll take a hell of a peace circle to raise the dead.

Biden evacuated to a secure location

Biden evacuated to a secure location

Secret Service agents whisked the president away after a plane veered into the airspace above his Delaware beach house
A Secret Service agent is shown looking on as President Joe Biden leaves the White House on April 1 for a weekend getaway in Delaware.

US President Joe Biden has been evacuated from his Delaware beach house after an unauthorized aircraft crossed into the restricted airspace above the property, triggering security protocols.

The president was rushed to a secure location around 1pm on Saturday after a privately owned plane “mistakenly” entered a secure area near Biden’s vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, the US Secret Service said in a statement. “The aircraft was immediately escorted out of the restricted airspace,” the agency added.

The secure location was reportedly a nearby fire station. Biden’s motorcade was seen traveling to the fire station, where an SUV in which the president was riding drove inside. Traffic was shut down for more than 20 minutes while Secret Service agents cleared the area and investigated the possible threat.

CBS News reporter Bo Erickson said he saw two military jets flying low over the beach town after the unauthorized plane was spotted. A local resident told Erickson that she saw a small white plane flying near Biden’s beach house at about 12:45pm. The two military jets scrambled over Rehoboth Beach a few minutes later.

“Preliminary investigation reveals the pilot was not on the proper radio channel, was not following the NOTAMS (Notice to Airmen) that had been filed and was not following published flight guidance,” the Secret Service said. “The United States Secret Service will be interviewing the pilot.”

Biden’s motorcade returned to his beach home after investigators concluded that there was no ongoing security threat. The president and First Lady Jill Biden reportedly celebrated her birthday at their Delaware beach house for the second straight year. The Federal Aviation Administration issued temporary flight restrictions in the area from Thursday night through Sunday morning, apparently in connection with Biden’s visit.

The Bidens frequently travel to their home in Wilmington, Delaware, and to their Rehoboth Beach property for quick getaways from Washington. They reportedly spent 16 days at the beach house over the course of five trips during his first year in office.

The government last fall awarded a construction contract worth nearly $500,000 to build a security fence around the president’s Rehoboth Beach house. As of March, the project was stalled pending local regulatory approvals needed to build the barrier higher than is normally allowed in the city. The Bidens were seeking permission to build a four-foot stone wall along the front of the house and 10-foot fencing with stone columns along the sides and rear of the property.

Critics have pointed out the irony of building a taxpayer-funded wall to help secure Biden’s home after the president canceled construction of a wall at the southern US border. He called the border wall a “waste of money” and said it wasn’t a “serious policy solution.”

U.S. Marine Corps Goes Woke, Celebrates ‘Pride Month’ with Rainbow Bullets

The U.S. Marine Corps went full woke on Wednesday, marking the first day of “Pride Month” with a celebratory image featuring rainbow bullets.

“Throughout June, the USMC [U.S. Marine Corps] takes #Pride in recognizing and honoring the contributions of our LGBTQ service members,” the U.S. Marine Corps said in a statement posted to social media.

“We remain committed to fostering an environment free from discrimination, and defend the values of treating all equally, with dignity and respect,” it added, using the hashtags #PrideMonth and #USMC. The statement is accompanied by an image of a Marine helmet adorned with six bullets, each a different color, comprising a rainbow:

Commenters were woefully unamused by the pandering attempt.

“Maybe focus on what’s actually important to the nation’s defense. China and Russia are bolstering up their ranks with masculinity understanding it’s necessity, while we seem to be celebrating sexual choices and gender changes in our military,” one user remarked as another said, “This makes me sad.”

“Is this satire?” another asked.

“I’ve seen it all now,” another exclaimed as one added, “Focus on building warriors and less about social bullshit.”

The tweet came on the first day of “Pride Month,” which spurred mass pandering from the Biden administration, corporate media, and various organizations.

“This month, we honor the resilience of LGBTQI+ people, who are fighting to live authentically and freely,” Joe Biden said in a May 31 proclamation on “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, And Intersex Pride Month.”

“We reaffirm our belief that LGBTQI+ rights are human rights. And we recommit to delivering protections, safety, and equality to LGBTQI+ families so that everyone can realize the full promise of America,” he added. Notably, Biden failed to match the super woke terminology embraced by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who once used “2SLGBTQQIA+ people.” That acronym includes two-spirit, questioning, and asexual, all of which were excluded by Biden.

Biden’s Department of State followed suit, posting celebratory pride month posts on social media. One of the images posted by the Department of State features a redesign of the Pride Flag, dubbed the “Progress Pride” flag:

HAJI MOHAMED DAWJEE: CHILDREN KEEP PAYING THE PRICE FOR US FANATICISM OVER GUNS

Haji Mohamed Dawjee is a South African columnist, disruptor of the peace and the author of 'Sorry, Not Sorry: Experiences of a brown woman in a white South Africa'. Follow her on Twitter: @sage_of_absurd

In the aftermath of yet another school shooting in the US last week, I contacted a few friends in America who work in journalism and data visualisation to help supply me with data on wheat, what the hell is going on with gun control in the country and other statistics like how many innocent lives have been lost, what the numbers are on school shootings, specifically and a mapping out of states where they potentially occur most. For example, are they the red states, where about 50 representatives in the senate are standing in the way of better gun control laws, or do they just occur anywhere, equally. Spread over the country like an epidemic..

What would the red dots on a digital map reveal? My American sources agreed that I would get some form of engaging and even perhaps gamified content on Monday, but this morning I woke up and realised it doesn’t matter.

It doesn’t matter what the stats are. One is enough. It doesn’t matter how many mass shootings there have been - one is enough. It doesn’t matter how many bodies of children are being used as payment for the security of the rights for citizens of the country to bear arms without paying any attention to the rights of others. One body is more than enough. A picture doesn’t matter. Even if I drew it in crayons and described it in terms that a five-year-old would understand, it still won’t make a difference.

Right is right and wrong is wrong. Simple as. Your political leanings don’t matter. Your power doesn’t matter. Your influence to uphold the second amendment should go out the door. It doesn’t matter. Where is your humanity? Your compassion? Your moral fibre? Your guilt and your principles? Where is your sense of care and your responsibility to recognise what is frankly a black and white situation? There is no nuance or colour that needs to fill the gaps of the gun control conversation because there is only one correct answer, change it. And change it now. I don’t need to wait for a picture to paint a thousand words for something that just requires three: Fix this problem.

Writers read more than they write. It’s an overwhelming and emotionally draining task on any given day. But when that reading involves a week thousands and thousands of words on gun violence in the US, just as an example of the consumption of many crimes against humanity, it is more than overwhelming. It is demoralising, destructive and disturbing. Words and thoughts are oppression and freedom all at once. And the pen is flagpole that beds with the winds of no positive change, that leans on the side of despondency in the faulty systems of democracy, which we still cling on to so desperately in the name of hope or all that is fair and good. But in the words of Billy Jean King, pressure is a privilege, so to say something, to be able to say something is dispensation.

Before sitting down to gather these paragraphs in what I hope are an accessible format, I sat down, as I always do to think about this pieces structure.

What do I want a sentence or a word to emote? What do I want it to look like? What do I want the reader to see, to think, to take away? How will I move from one emotion, one intention, to another? What are the facts and what are the feelings? We pass over the structure of things before even telling the story thousands of times. Sometimes this make the writing easier, sometimes, still, the writing is not good at all. Most times fleshing out a story like this feels good. It doesn’t make us happy, but it feels good to add meat to the bones of a situation for someone out there to see or understand.

Before writing this, when I was still prepping it for next week, I spent hours stringing the format together. Scribbles of what should go where. What meaning and purpose does it have? Is this the time for it? In the case of this column, my answers are, perhaps it has no purpose, maybe there is no meaning in the madness, no point to writing it about it all, but I woke up feeling like it was definitely the time. And maybe time will change its meaning, and the meaning of incidents like this itself even though it’s not the type of story we ever, or I really ever, want to tell.

“There has been another mass shooting in the United States”, what an odd thing to say. What a discomforting thing to hear. And yet, so normalised. But still, it burns the skin and the soul every time it happens, or at least it should. Even if we’re used to the pain we feel of others, just like being burnt, the amount of keloids we have developed over scarred tissue will not protect us. The wound still stings and in most cases, A fresh scald should be more painful than the last. A transgression on one life is a transgression on us all. A single human rights violation is a violation on us all. And the flames matter, especially if they never, ever go out.

I left the systemic plan behind and wrote blind but aware. I didn’t think about where the feeling of the piece would go, because it is everywhere.

We cannot allow ourselves to get used to a fire whose embers will simply not be allowed to turn to dead ash. A fire fuelled by many, many innocent lives. In the case of the US mass shootings, that number is: four or more people, dead, with approximately 212 mass shootings this year alone. That leaves us with a minimum of 848 lives lost in 2022 due to mass killings, and raging gunmen at schools, places of worship and opening fire for no reason at black elderly citizens in Buffalo, New York just a couple of weeks before the Uvalde kid killing spree. It is May.

We talk of gurneys and stretchers and the pointlessness of trusting our institutions or even hugging our kids when all we have is the experience or potential of losing them to higher powers that will not do anything. And that’s not to say we shouldn’t hug our children or be deeply involved in the discourse of change. But what is the sense in it all when the actions are so hurtfully senseless. And that senselessness, for the writer, is matched by a healthy degree of haunting futility in saying something.

So with that in mind, I am not writing this column to discuss gun control, to ask that the Second Amendment be revised, a process that should have taken places and changes put into practice since its inception in 1791. I am writing it for the archive of memory. For the days when you and I and us and them have to revert to things said and things that should have been said about a time – that still exists – where we have to talk about people opening fire on the unarmed and innocent lives of way too many. Even though through all the insurmountable times we shake our heads, throw up our hands, shout, life will go on. The capitalist system in the US will continue to advertise consumption through happy ads. Radio DJs will still play joyous music. And personal ad websites will keep running for things like parts to a car that won’t run anymore or calling for customers of any kind – from the penis enlargement promiser, to the guaranteed “change who you are” life-coach. The world will keep turning, and us with it and we will pass this time, the information will die down eventually but the memory must not, even if we are designed to go on while the world falls apart.

Philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche once wrote: “What makes heroic? To face simultaneously one’s greatest suffering and one’s highest hope.” He was referring to depression and the rehabilitation of hope. But I think it applies.

My only hopeful stance right now, my intention I suppose, is that the day will come where we look back, where America looks back and says: How did we allow our people to live like that? Or more significantly: How did we allow them to die like that?

For now, when it comes to facing a great suffering in the world on so many subjects, I have to ask, is our only option to let it burn?

Quinta Brunson, the creator and star of "Abbott Elementary," said people have asked her to write a school shooting episode of her show.

"Wild how many people have asked for a school shooting episode of the show I write," Brunson tweeted Wednesday. "People are that deeply removed from demanding more from the politicians they've elected and are instead demanding 'entertainment.'"

She continued: "I can't ask 'are yall ok' anymore because the answer is 'no.'"

She then said fans asking about a school shooting episode should channel their energy into asking elected officials to "get on Beto time and nothing less," referring to Beto O'Rourke, a candidate for Texas governor who is a staunch supporter of stricter gun control laws.

"I'm begging you," Brunson added. "I don't want to sound mean, but I want people to understand the flaw in asking for something like this. We're not okay. This country is rotting our brains. I'm sad about it."

A gunman opened fire at a Uvalde, Texas elementary school on Tuesday, killing 19 students and two teachers. Texas Governor Gregg Abbott said on Wednesday that an additional 17 people were treated for non-life-threatening injuries related to the incident.

ACLU Files Motion Denying Existence of Women

ACLU Files Motion Denying Existence of Women

The War on Women is real.

Daniel Greenfield

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism.

The ACLU claims that there’s a War on Women… and it’s fighting it.

"We're Not Stupid: Outrageous Quotes from the War on Women," the ACLU had headlined a post about its pro-abortion activism in 2013.

A decade later the ACLU is arguing in court that women don't exist.

Not only does the ACLU’s current abortion coverage eliminate any mention of women, but in response to a civil rights lawsuit by women, it actually filed a motion arguing they don’t exist.

Last year, the Women’s Liberation Front, one of the few remaining feminist groups that have rejected transgender intersectionality’s displacement of women, filed a lawsuit against California’s prison system over housing men who claim to identify as female together with women.

The feminist groups filing the lawsuit noted that, "of the incarcerated men seeking to transfer to women’s prison 33.8% — FULLY ONE THIRD — are registered sex offenders."

Krystal Gonzalez, one of four women being represented in the lawsuit, reported being sexually assaulted by a man who claimed to be “transgender” in prison. The California penal system however insisted that her male attacker was actually a “transgender woman with a penis.”

The ACLU, along with Lambda Legal and the Transgender Law Center, filed a bizarre motion in response denying that, “‘men as a class’ are defined and differentiated from ‘women as a class’ by their ‘anatomy, genitalia, physical characteristics, and physiology.’”

Are there physiological differences between men and women? Science says there are while the ACLU denies it in what may be one of the most surreal motions ever submitted to a court.

Denying sexual dimorphism is up there with a motion claiming that the earth is flat.

But the ACLU motion went on “to deny the allegation that ‘human beings’ are ‘sexually dimorphic, divided into males and females each with reproductive systems, hormones, and chromosomes that result in significant differences between men[] and women[.]’”

Biology 101 is now an “allegation” to be denied in court.

Maybe the ACLU’s next motion will deny the “allegation” that the earth revolves around the sun.

The civil rights lawsuit the ACLU is fighting uses textbook terminology. Literally. The language of a basic biology textbook is being denied by a former civil rights group fighting against a civil rights suit by a sexual assault victim. The ACLU now hates science, women, and civil rights.

Not to mention free speech.

Within a decade the ACLU has gone from falsely accusing Republicans of a “War on Women” to waging an actual war on women in court. The ACLU has also switched from claiming that Republicans were tolerating sexual assaults on women to fighting women in court so that male sex offenders can continue to sexually assault them. That’s what a War on Women looks like.

It’s hard to know whether this is worse than the ACLU also throwing out freedom of speech.

Even while the ACLU files motions denying the existence of women in court, it still maintains the ACLU Women's Rights Project that was founded by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The ACLU denies that women are a class when filing a motion against a lawsuit by a woman who was sexually assaulted, and then argues that they are a class in employment law.

Women are apparently still a class when they’re being paid less than men, but they’re not a class when a man wearing a dress wants to sexually assault them in the prison system.

The ACLU Women's Rights Project claims that it “addresses the harms to women and girls caught up in the criminal and juvenile justice systems” even while its California chapters are fighting women who have been caught up in the criminal justice systems and suffered harm.

Even while the ACLU fundraises off defending women, it denies they exist. Its legal advocacy has begun to shift away from mentioning pregnant women to referring to “pregnant people”.

The ACLU promises to advocate for women while erasing them in court.

The former civil rights group accuses abortion opponents of supporting “forced pregnancy”, but women in prison have become pregnant while it insists on forcing them to live alongside male rapists. The actual agenda of the ACLU is even worse than its wildest accusations that it and its radical leftists allies have been hurling for decades at social conservatives.

In Washington, the ACLU went to court to stop the release of documents about the transfer of male prisoners, including a serial rapist, into the Washington Correctional Center for Women.

The men included Douglas “Donna” Perry, a serial killer who violently hated women, was charged with murdering three prostitutes and may have killed between nine and twenty women.

Douglas Perry explained that he killed women because he "couldn't breed" and the "women had the ability to have children".

A family member of one of his murder victims had specifically asked that Douglas be kept out of a women's prison so he would not be able to hurt any more women.

But in California’s progressive jurisprudence, only the rights of criminals matter to the Left.

The ACLU's male attorney went so far in that case as to file an injunction against the woman requesting information about the number of men being housed in women's correctional facilities.

“The War on Women 2.0: Do They Think We're Stupid?” the ACLU headlined its arguments a decade ago. The ACLU is waging a War on Women 2.0 and it thinks its supporters are stupid.

In the name of diversity, equity and inclusion, the ACLU wants to force women to live alongside a male serial killer who piled up their naked corpses near the Spokane River.

Douglas Perry was caught because a cold case investigation allowed a "forensic scientist… to be able to develop a male DNA profile from blood" found under one of the victim's fingernails.

Perry is still a man. He was caught because of a male DNA profile. That’s actual science.

But how long will it be until the ACLU argues that DNA evidence can’t be used to stop serial killers like Perry because he now identifies as a woman and therefore he can’t be the suspect.

Perry's defense for the murder of those women was, "I'm not going to admit I killed anybody, I didn't. Donna has killed nobody." When he was asked if "Doug did", he answered, "I don't know if Doug did or not, it was 20 years ago and I have no idea whether he did or did not."

What used to be insanity a mere eight years ago is now the official position of the establishment.

In an extraordinary document, the ACLU denies everything we know about biological science and it does so in the name of not only erasing women, but exposing them to sexual abuse.

The ACLU claims to be fighting to protect women even as it’s forcing them to share a space with serial killers, rapists and sex offenders. What else would you call that except a War on Women?
