MSM slammed for downplaying Trump assassination attempt

Donald Trump's family and supporters have slammed MSM for downplaying Saturday evening's assassination attempt.

CNN, The New York Times and NBC have been lambasted by Republicans online for their reactions to one of the worst cases of violence ever seen in American political history.

Publishers were blasted for describing gunshots as 'loud popping noises' and for describing Trump as 'falling' from the stage without reference to the assassination attempt.

The president's son Donald Trump Jr led the criticism on X, calling CNN 'vile' and 'a disgrace' for their coverage of the Butler, Pennsylvania campaign event incident.

He shared a 30-second clip from CNN where correspondent Jamie Gangel pointed out that Trump got up and said 'fight, fight, fight' in the seconds after he was shot.

'What we're hearing from people is that's not the message that we want to be sending right now, we want to tamp it down,' Gangel said of the reaction.

In a fiery response to the tweet, Trump Jr said: 'Someone attempted to assassinate my father tonight and this is what CNN is focused on. These people are vile.'

The broadcaster has also been widely slammed for running a headline saying 'Secret Service rushes Trump off stage after he falls at rally' without mention of a shooting.

Meanwhile, critics have slammed The New York Times for their Sunday morning paper headline, reading: 'Trump Hurt, But Safe, After A Shooting', presenting the atrocity in the mildest possible way.

Critics also pointed out the newspaper trimmed out the American flag which was flying above Trump in the image of him raising a fist with blood across his face moments after a bullet struck him in the right ear.

NBC was criticized for describing the former president 'clutching his ear' after 'popping noises were heard' at the campaign rally.

Gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, from Bethel Park, PA, fired several rounds from a rooftop including one bullet which struck Trump in the ear. It came just days before the former president was to accept the Republican nomination for 2024.

Crooks, a high school outcast who donated to the leftist ActBlue political action committee on Biden's Inauguration Day in 2021 - killed a retired fire chief, Corey Comperatore, and injured two more people before cops gunned him down.

Secret instructions were given to reporters to downplay the assassination attempt:

"Don't call it an assassination attempt unless authorities say it is."

"Don't say it was a shooting targeting Trump unless authorities say it was."

"Don't say it was actual gun shots unless authorities say it was."

"Anchors: Be mindful of body language. No need for a serious face."

"No need for guests to comment."

"No need to say 'Scary moments at Trump rally.'"

Even at the center of Times Square in New York City, not a single video monitor was reporting that President Trump had been shot.

Publishers were blasted for describing gunshots as 'loud popping noises' and for describing Trump as 'falling' from the stage without reference to the assassination attempt.

The New York Times was also criticized for running an opinion piece called 'Donald Trump Is Unfit To Lead' which encouraged voters to 'reject him in November' on the morning after the shooting.

Printed against an ominous, backlit silhouette of Trump's side profile, the title page also reads: 'He failed the tests of leadership and betrayed America.'

Leftists have full-blown meltdown after shooter misses Donald Trump at rally: 'We were a centimeter away!'

After the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, screaming liberals had full-blown meltdowns over the shooter narrowly missing the 45th US president.

Warped liberals shared their disappointment in Crook's aim, insinuating that they wished Trump had been fatally shot.

'We were a second away, we were a centimeter away from half of the problem being gone and you missed,' Celeste, who goes by cele2t3, screamed in a TikTok video.

Driving in a car, Celeste shared her initial reaction to hearing the sudden news.

'I just found out about this sh**, it just happened, I haven't even had a second to process.

She screams at the top of her lungs: 'You're telling me somebody finally had the ba**s to bring a "pew pew" and it missed?!'

Celeste continues to complain that the shooter was just a 'centimeter' away from fatally injuring Trump.

'There was a white man attached to that trigger- I know it!

'We were a centimeter away, Ughhhhhh,' she screams as the video, which has since been deleted, ends.

Xander, who goes by the name super99x on TikTok, also expressed how upset he was that Crook shot Trump in the ear

Celeste wasn't the only person who decided to share how discouraged the violent encounter made them.

Xander, who goes by the name super99x on TikTok, also expressed how upset he was with Crooks.

He screams into the microphone: 'How do you miss that?

'We don't miss those! Come on man! F***!

'We don't miss those! One shot at greatness to be mentioned in the history books and you missed the shot?' Xander then faces the wall and pretends to cry.

Another TikToker, Lisaamanuel claimed Saturday was 'the worst day of her life' after she found out Trump was injured in the shooting.

'Just got out of the movies and for a split second I though Donald Trump had been assassinated.

'And I though to myself, "this is the best f****** day of my life, and then he wasn't, so it's the worst day of my life,' she says.

A Democratic congressman's staffer faced the ultimate penalty after she was fired for a vile post ridiculing the shooter's aim when he opened fire on Trump.

On Saturday evening, shortly after gunfire broke out, Jacqueline Marsaw, 61, the former field director for Mississippi Congressman Bennie G. Thompson shared her thoughts on Facebook.

Marsaw, the president and vice president of a local NAACP in Natchez, Mississippi, garnered the attention of Republicans across the country. She has since deleted the post and her account, but screenshots have been reposted across social media.

She shared: 'I don't condone violence but please get some shooting lessons so you don't miss next time ooops that wasn't me talking.'

In a follow up post, she said: 'That's what your hate speech got you!!'

Marsaw has since been fired from her position. 'I was made aware of a post made by a staff member and she is no longer in my employment,' Thompson said.

Marsaw, who is also secretary, president and vice president of a local NAACP, was previously venerated as a 'hometown hero' by WJTV.

Former Speaker of the US House of Representative, Newt Gingrich, was left appalled by Marsaw's posts.

'She should be fired today. Thompson introduced the resolution to cut off secret service protection for President Trump. With staff like this the poison is deep.'

Actress Amanda Seales posted a video online explaining why she thinks the shooting was staged.

'That sh** was more staged than a Tyler Perry production of Madea Runs for President.

'Where did the blood come from? So in theater, in movies they have what's called blood pellets. People use them for Halloween.

'It's basically a pellet of fake blood that's in your mouth and when you crush it the blood comes out.
