Republican Heartthrob AOC Catches Covid, after Dancing with Drag Queens

AOC reveals she has COVID and is suffering symptoms of virus after partying maskless at Miami drag brunch

  • The Democrat congresswoman revealed her diagnosis Sunday night
  • She said she is experiencing undisclosed symptoms and is recovering at home
  • Last week, AOC was spotted enjoying a drag brunch in Miami, where she got up close and personal with fans at the outdoor event
  • AOC said she is fully-vaccinated and boosted against COVID
  • Her presence in Florida, a state that she had long criticized for its lax coronavirus restrictions, appeared to irk some Republicans
  • Florida confirmed a record 150,251 Covid cases January 4, around the time of AOC's visit; it recorded 26,588 cases Sunday
  • It's not clear where she caught the virus; 1,928 cases were confirmed Sunday in Washington DC, while 81,388 cases were reported in her home state of New York

Democrat Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says she has caught COVID - days after she was snapped partying maskless at a Miami drag brunch.

The Bronx Representative, 32, made the announcement on her official Twitter page Sunday night, sharing a statement on House of Representatives headed paper which said: 'Representative Ocasio-Cortez has received a positive test result for COVID-19.

'She is experiencing symptoms and is recovering at home. The Congresswoman received her booster shot this Fall, and encourages everyone to get their booster and follow all CDC guidance.'

AOC then added some of her own guidance in a follow-up tweet, writing: 'For information on what to do if you're exposed to COVID, test positive or want to schedule a test or vaccine in New York City -- see our round-up of CDC and NYC resources here,' before adding a link to a personal website.

It is unclear when or how AOC became infected.

Despite staunchly advocating for mask and vaccine mandates, AOC abandoned her own rhetoric last week during a trip to Miami, Florida, where she was spotted maskless at numerous venues.

Her vacation was dragged on Twitter by conservatives, including a Twitter account devoted to and endorsed by Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, which invited her to 'enjoy a taste of freedom' in the Sunshine State.

'Welcome to Florida, AOC! We hope you're enjoying a taste of freedom here in the Sunshine State thanks to @RonDeSantisFL's leadership,' the tweet, by the Team DeSantis account, read.

Ocasio-Cortez responded to photos and criticism online with a tweet saying: 'Hasn’t Gov. DeSantis been inexplicably missing for like 2 weeks? If he’s around, I would be happy to say hello. His social media team seems to have been posting old photos for weeks. In the meantime, perhaps I could help with local organizing. Folks are quite receptive here.'

It's not known where she caught the virus, although she was pictured partying maskless during a brunch event in South Beach, Miami, on January 2

News of her diagnosis sparked mockery online, with one reply to the Twitter announcement berating Ocasio-Cortez for taking the trip to Florida during a time when Covid cases reached a record high.

Another joked about AOC's assertion that anyone criticizing her for the rules-free trip actually harbored a crush on her, writing: 'The virus just wants to date you.'

But on January 2, AOC was pictured getting up close and personal with pals at a drag brunch at the Palace Bar on Miami's South Beach.

She was snapped cuddling maskless with Pose star Billy Porter, and basking in the attention of other attendees, who were evidently thrilled to be in the presence of the star lawmaker.

It is unclear if Porter was also infected, or exposed, and he has yet to comment in the wake of AOC's diagnosis.

Florida confirmed a record 150,251 Covid cases January 4, around the time of AOC's visit; its numbers have dropped markedly since, with 26,588 new cases reported Sunday.

It's not known where she caught the virus; 1,928 cases were confirmed Sunday in Washington, DC, while 81,388 tests came back positive in her home state of New  York.

Her presence in Florida, a state that she had long criticized for its lax coronavirus restrictions during earlier waves of the pandemic appeared to irk some Republicans and conservative journalists who became tired of her using the southern state as an example of how not to do things.

'AOC is STILL lounging it up in Florida, in large crowds and maskless. This time at a Drag Queen bar in Miami. Rules for thee but not for me,' wrote right wing journalist Brendon Leslie.

'For those of you with zero sense of humor: the whole point of this post is to expose hypocrisy. We don’t actually care she’s maskless. We care she fear mongers about Florida but then has the audacity to vacation here,' he added.

'AOC was spotted partying in a bar maskless in the great free state of Florida. Absolute hypocrite,' tweeted Twitter account Libs of Tik Tok.

The progressive congresswoman was blasted by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for backing draconian restrictions in New York, then coming to the Sunshine State and enjoying its lack of COVID-19 protocols.

Right-wing commentator Brendon Leslie took aim at AOC after news of the event emerged, and accused her of hypocrisy.

AOC's jaunt to Florida also saw her sip cocktails at an outdoor sushi restaurant with her boyfriend Riley Roberts.

Roberts was snapped wearing a pair of Birkenstocks with bare feet, prompting jokes from Republicans, and subsequent backlash from AOC who accused conservatives of being sexually frustrated.

Hitting back, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted: 'If Republicans are mad they can't date me they can just say that instead of projecting their sexual frustrations onto my boyfriend's feet. Ya creepy weirdos.'

WATCH: Buffalo smashes into restaurant, sends customer flying

A Bull in a China Shop sends customer flying

WATCH: Buffalo smashes into restaurant, sends customer flying

Shocking footage from a CCTV camera in China has emerged online, showing a buffalo charging into a restaurant and attacking one of the customers.

In a video that was apparently filmed on the last day of December and has since gone viral on social media, two men can be seen standing inside a restaurant. While one of them is opening a drink and another is busy with his smartphone, a huge and apparently ravaged buffalo emerges through the entrance with its horns down, and sends one of the customers flying out of view of the camera.

Around 20 seconds later, the buffalo returns through a different entrance, smashing furniture with its horns and hooves. It then leaves through the door where it initially entered.

A rope can be seen dangling from the animal, leaving commenters to wonder whether it escaped slaughter by a butcher.

The incident reportedly took place in the city of Taizhou in eastern China. The man who was attacked was hospitalized with leg injuries.

The real danger to democracy in the US

The real danger to democracy in the US

There is a rather sinister haze over the anniversary of 6 January 2021.

A year ago, a motley crowd of hooligans, clowns, thugs and freaks stormed the Capitol Building in Washington, the seat of the US Government, nominally to protest against Trump’s losing the presidential election to Biden.

Reflecting on these events of a year ago, President Biden and the rest of the Democrats see – or pretend to see – a threat to American democracy. I also see a threat to democracy. But it does not come from the Republican Party or supporters of President Trump; it comes from the Democrat establishment itself.

The Democrats and their rich, powerful, elitist allies see themselves as a natural ruling class. The US mainstream media are overwhelmingly Democrat and see their duty as promoting the views of the Democratic Party and shutting out all opposing view.

Most of the gigantic corporations support the Democrats. The Big Tech media do the same. They look down their noses at the crude lower classes who support the Republicans, whom Hillary Clinton described as ‘a basket of deplorables’.

When Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election, they were horrified. They felt as London lords would feel if a rich scrap metal merchant became the King of England.

Even before he became president, the Democrat establishment tried to discredit him and overthrow the election result. Their first impeachment of him was based on the completely bogus charge that Trump had colluded with Russia to win the election. A very long, very expensive enquiry, presided over by people such as Nancy Pelosi, the super-rich, plutocratic Democrat House Speaker, produced not one scrap of evidence to support the charge.

Policies and actions

Trump’s behaviour as president was generally awful but his policies and actions generally good. He was rude and crude, he made incessant stupid tweets, he didn’t read his briefs or listen to his advisors, and he seemed to rely on instinct.

I thought he was wrong to scrap the Iranian nuclear deal and wrong to suck up to Saudi, the worst sponsor of Islamic terrorism. I hated his slogan of ‘fair trade not free trade’. But, unlike his predecessors, he kept America out of stupid wars.

He checked China’s abuse of trade with America. He cut taxes and made the American economy boom, with high rises of income for the low paid. He brought about record unemployment, especially for black Americans (whose plight he had noticed and sympathised with in his election debate with Clinton). He controlled the flood of illegal immigrants into America. He promised vaccines against Covid-19 in twelve months and delivered them (whatever you might think of them). He was one of the best presidents of modern times.

The election of 2020 was a complete mess but there is no doubt that Biden won by a clear margin. (Some of the Republican states are now trying to improve and simplify American voting procedures, asking for the same sort of identification documents that are required in South African elections. Biden accuses them of being racist!)

Trump, perhaps believing his own propaganda, was initially outraged by the outcome, and asked for his supporters to stage a peaceful protest against it. This led to the storming of the Capitol. It was a strange affair, leading to questions that have not been answered, or even addressed, such as why the police allowed these gaudy ruffians into the Capitol. When trouble seemed to be brewing, why didn’t they make preparations to resist them?

Silly

Some Democrats seriously want us to believe that this was an ‘insurrection’, an attempted coup to overthrow the American government. To see how silly this is, look at the extensive video coverage of the mayhem. Look at the characters concerned. Look at Jacob Anthony Chansley, who broke in with a painted face, a hat of fur, horns on his head, a naked chest and a spear; apparently he also calls himself, ‘the Yellowstone Wolf’.

It was obviously just a mob of oafs, weirdos and exhibitionists, none of whom carried guns, who came suddenly and departed easily, harming not one single legislator, never for a moment threatening the American government nor American democracy. Four people did die though. Three died of natural causes (provoked no doubt by the shock of the protests). Only one person was killed. This was a young woman, Ashli Babbit. As she was breaking in through a window, a policeman, without giving her any warning, shot her dead. The policeman seems to have a record of violent behaviour. Why don’t we know his name? Why is the media so quiet about her being deliberately killed by a policeman when it went into such rage six months before about a policeman kneeling on a suspect until he died – but with no proof or even suggestion that the policeman intended to kill?

Trump asked for peace. Republicans accepted the election result. Trump gave way quietly, if surlily, to the new president, and that was that.

In the previous six months, riots by BLM and Antifa, which included deliberate attacks on government buildings and a federal courthouse, had caused over a thousand times the damage of 6 January and resulted in over a hundred times more assaults and injuries to policemen. What do you hear about this from the media and the Democrat leaders?

President Biden, who has been in office just under a year, has been a disaster. He has crippled the economy with inflation and caused millions of Americans to stop working. Of his dreadful ‘Build Back Better’, even The Economist magazine, woke and partisan to the Democrats, said of its tax proposals: ‘A tax plan for the upper, upper class. Why Democrats may spend hundreds of billions sudsidising the rich.’ No doubt Nancy Pelosi will do spendidly through it. The deplorable working-classes will not. He has made a complete mess of policy on Covid-19.

Disgraceful

The manner of his withdrawal from Afghanistan was disgraceful. His absurd and destructive policies on climate change and green energy have seen fuel and electricity prices soaring and shortages loom. His policy on America’s southern border has been ruinous, with millions of illegal immigrants, including drug lords, child traffickers, organised criminals and unaccompanied children, flooding into America, and receiving full and free benefits. (Although, to be fair to him, this is exactly what most Democrats promised in their campaign debates in 2020.)

The Democrats, including President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, are doing badly in the polls and are heading for a beating in the November elections. This seems to be the main reason for their hysteria over 6 January 2021. They are trying to distract attention away from their woeful performance and their callous indifference to the problems of ordinary Americans. I think this is dangerous.

By accusing Trump supporters of being a threat to democracy, they might be preparing to reduce democracy themselves. Their Big Tech allies routinely shut out comment unfavourable to the ruling class and to approved opinion. General Mark Milley, chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, who hated Trump, made some remarks against him to a Chinese counterpart that were close to treason; he promotes Critical Race Theory in the armed services and sees ‘white supremacy’ in his soldiers as more dangerous than any foreign enemy.

You almost get the feeling that some Democrat grandees would like to ban the Republican Party. Kamala Harris, whose popularity is plunging, recently compared 6 January 2020 with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour on 7 December 1941 and the terrorist attack on New York on 11 September 2001. This is frightening. It is as if she is preparing America for drastic action against supporters of Trump or indeed against Republicans in general.

I hope Trump does not stand again for the presidency. There are better candidates from the Republicans, with good, sensible policies and sober, thoughtful personalities. But to have impeached Trump twice was vengeful nonsense. And now to accuse him of having tried to overthrow American democracy in January 2020 is not only absurd but cynical and perilous.

Professional Burglar: Radical Leftist Criminal "Reform" Laws are GREAT !!!

Career Burglar, Arrested 11 Times in 2021, Calls Radical Criminal Justice Bail Reform Laws ‘Great’

FILE - In this Nov. 1, 2016, file photo, detainees wait in a cell for an appearance in Sacramento county superior court in Sacramento, Calif. The nation's first law eliminating bail for suspects awaiting trial has been placed on hold while California voters decide whether to overturn it. A referendum …

A 58-year-old career criminal from New York City who was arrested 11 times in 2021 recently called the state’s leftist bail reform laws “great.”

“I’m grateful for [bail reform] because I’m too old to go to jail, I’m way too old, I can’t do it,” Charles Wold told the New York Post during a phone conversation from his mother’s house.

The career criminal is accused of burglarizing ten businesses in Brooklyn and Manhattan over three months, but every time he was apprehended, he walked, thanks to New York’s bail reform laws, the outlet reports.

Wold, an admitted drug addict with 32 prior arrests since 1983 – primarily for burglary and theft – told the Post

Rikers Island is not the key, you know what I’m saying? I’ve been in jail all my life, I can do that standing on my head, it’s not teaching me anything, I can get more drugs in there than I can out here. Hopefully the DA will see that I did not do all these crimes that they are accusing me of and they will get dismissed.

On November 24, Wold was arrested for allegedly burglarizing two Manhattan businesses and stealing cash registers, according to the Post, which cited court documents and law enforcement sources. He was arraigned the following day, and a judge set him free as “the felony burglary charges weren’t eligible for cash bail,” said the outlet.

Days later, on November 29, surveillance footage captured a person who appeared to be the 58-year-old Wold burglarizing the Park Slope’s Hipster Deli Grocery, where prosecutors say he stole a cash register.

“It’s a headache, then the customers come in the next day, we don’t have money, we don’t have machine,” said the deli’s owner, Hazim Annisafee.

Annisafee said he lost between $400-$600 in the stolen cash register, and on top of that had to spend another $1,400 between purchasing a new register and repairing the door.

Court records show Wold allegedly hit four other businesses throughout the next week and a half, according to the Post

From the Post:

On Dec. 1, Wold is accused of stealing five electric scooters, a bike and two Macbook Airs from Fridge No More in Gowanus and on Dec. 5, he allegedly broke into Artisan Barber Shop in Park Slope and stole their cash register, court documents say.

“The guy keeps going in and out, I think it’s wrong… They should give him time, leave him more in the jail so he understands more maybe,” said Rron Dulatahu, a barber and manager at the shop.

The 58-year-old criminal told the Post that he had conducted some burglaries but said he is not responsible for all the accusations he faces.

“I might’ve did one or two of ’em but that was in the beginning of the summer,” he declared. “I didn’t do all of them.”

He said a doppelganger is behind the latest string of robberies.

“Whoever’s doing it has glasses and a bald head and he looks just like me,” he asserted.

He also blamed his criminal past on his opioid addiction.

“People need to understand what addiction is, I don’t want to do crime, I don’t want to hurt people, I don’t want to steal from people,” Wold told the Post before expressing remorse for his actions.

“I really feel really, really bad about my situation and some of the people I have hurt… If I did it, I apologize,” he added.

Wold is also suspected of multiple unsolved burglaries in Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Park Slope neighborhood, said Park Slope Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District Executive Director Mark Caserta.

“We’ve seen many of our businesses are suffering from the Omicron strain and to have someone breaking into storefronts and taking money and breaking property is just an insult during a very difficult time,” he told the Post.

New York City criminals have repeatedly taken advantage of the state’s bail reform laws.

Last year, 22-year-old Isaac Rodriguez was arrested at least 57 times, including 46 for retail thefts and one for an alleged stabbing, Breitbart News reported. He has allegedly stolen from a Walgreens in Jackson Heights 23 times.

In November, Luis Gabriel Gomez, 27, was taken into custody for allegedly killing a mother and her  daughter a week after he was released from custody without bail following an arrest on an arson charge, Breitbart News reported.

Bail reform was a central issue in two district attorney elections on Long Island this past November.

“Republicans came away with significant victories on Long Island as the election of Republican district attorneys in Nassau and Suffolk Counties signals a repudiation of the state’s contentious bail reform law,” Breitbart News said.
