Asian Carp Now Being Renamed Because It's Racist
Asian carp are known as Asian carp because they're from Asia.
No one blames Asian carp on Asian people. Americans imported them and like most invasive species, they might belong in their own ecosystem, but they can be destructive elsewhere. Much like the American grey squirrel in the United Kingdom. Or the racoon in Germany. Both are examples of American animals that proved to be quite destructive when Europeans decided to import them.
But the woke cultural revolution insists on keeping Asian people out of college while pursuing performative virtue signaling like this.
Now some other government agencies are taking the same step in the wake of anti-Asian hate crimes that surged during the coronavirus pandemic. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service quietly changed its designation to “invasive carp” in April.
“We wanted to move away from any terms that cast Asian culture and people in a negative light,” said Charlie Wooley, director of its Great Lakes regional office.
Problem solved. When they take over the Great Lakes, at least we won't be politically incorrect about it.
It worked with shark attacks.
Officials in Australia are describing shark attacks as "interactions" or "negative encounters" as part of a new strategy for helping the animals to be more understood.
The change in language is part of an effort to overhaul public perception of the threatened species, with authorities and scientists keen to change their long-standing image as deadly, man-eating animals.
A rose by any other name or a shark attack by any other name is well... still the same exact thing. In a woke culture that things you can transform gender through identification, renaming things actually only deludes the renamers.
