The leaders of the US, Canada, the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Japan are in attendance.
The dinner was hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte, who arrived in a cream-colored dress — as did First Lady Melania.
French officials released the dinner menu, which features local Basque specialties.
The appetizer was a “piperade,” a dish typically made with tomatoes, onions, green peppers and dried red pepper.

Next came a line-caught red tuna, prepared in a style known locally as Marmitako — something like a stew cooked with vegetables in an earthenware dish.

The meal ended with local cheeses and a dessert featuring peaches and Basque cakes.

The leaders will spend the next two days discussing foreign policy, the global economy and climate change.
